imagine reading a 2011 book in 2023 about the decline of violence... Personally, I felt like the world was getting more and more violent over time per se, even in 2011. When you look at thelevel of violence involved in everyday crimes like theft, robberies, bullying, etc this is a whole new level.

It's not though. Violence actually is in decline has been for decades. Nowadays you just can't escape hearing about it and all of it comes at you at once, so it seems like it has gotten worse.
