    Check out John M. Ford’s The Dragon Waiting. It’s kinda cool how much WOT is a vast extrapolation on what this little-known novel from 1983 did, especially since RJ and Ford were close friends. There’s a Slate article about Ford I also recommend; the phrase “games consultant” came up and continues to interest me no end.

    The letter that Verin left Mat revealed info to him that could only be revealed after she died so when she negotiated down from 90 days to 30 days she knew she was negotiating away 60 days of her life.

    I feel the same about Perrin's Wolfdream arc, it would have been better if we had more of a build up to the reveal of his end game power. Jain's death scene is fantastic, and so sorrowful when Matt realises what the Ashanderai actually does. The Maradon scenes were incredible, you really get to know Rodel and it's pretty devastating. I've always really loved the Little Wolf, but this book really made him for me. Aviendha's future visions are written incredibly, I remember the first time I read that chapter and felt hollow and shocked for a whole day afterwards.

    About Noal (Jain Fairstrider) with the Malkier, I just re read book one and when the Emmonds fielders are all learning about Malkier and how it fell, Agolmar says that Cowan Fairheart, one of the main darkfriends responsible for the fall of Malkier, was taken by young Jain Charan, already called Jain Farstrider.

    Man you are flying through these. Yep Perrin's story needed to catch-up and it is a bit awkward at times. Rand's few scenes are flat out epic, not the guy you want to be your enemy. Mat is not the same but he still gives me a chuckle. Avi has gotten so little page time, but what she gets is so good. Elayne and her brother... I know cats and dogs smarter then either of them, at least they are pretty I guess. Eggy is a wee bit full of herself with the seal thing and a few other things, but overall she has her people headed in the right direction. Here we are about to drop into the valley of destruction, hope you enjoy it man. I dont know what you have read, but most seem to get into Brandon Sanderson and his Cosmere. So series like Mistborn or Stormlight or the few stand alone books he has written.

    Eh the first four books M:A, M:M, Silverthorn, and Darkness at Sethanon are all great. Everything after that is kinda eh....there's even a point where Feist creates a scene between two characters who have already met but it's written like they haven't met....I feel like the quality goes down significantly from this point on and it was so sad for me as I loved the first several books.

  • @boli2746

    @boli2746

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@derrickdavis5390 I agree with you but I say that the good books extend further: The Riftwar Saga (initial books) * Magician * Silverthorn * A Darkness at Sethanon The Empire Trilogy (a MUST READ! fantastic trilogy) * Daughter of the Empire * Servant of the Empire * Mistress of the Empire Krondor's Sons (Two standalone stories, but decent) * Prince of the Blood * The King's Buccaneer The Serpentwar Saga (three great books, one terrible) * Shadow of a Dark Queen * Rise of a Merchant Prince * Rage of a Demon King And THIS is where I stop reading; on purpose. I have read all the way to the end and there is some cool scenes, characters and the like but here, it just feels a great place to conclude the Saga as it concludes a lot of the original plot points and character development. Reading the fourth in this saga you are just gonna feel 'bleh' about a lot of it.

    My theory was that Olver, who in the books is always described as an ugly kid, is the reborn Gaidal Kain. I was really surprised it was never confirmed and I do believe that if Robert Jordan had time to finish the books, it would have turned out to be the case.

    okay a lot I wanna say lol if you like scifi I have loved the "Bobiverse" series by Dennis E. Taylor; the "Children of time" series by Adrian Tchaikovsky; or some Orsin Scott Card sequels to Ender's game. A lot happened in this book so I get some of the confusion you have at certain points. That is why many of us have reread the series multiple times lol. The Verin letter is a good example of this as she wrote it while under her black oaths so she could only do that under specific conditions. I definitely agree that Perrin's training is much more muted than egwene's. Very excited to see what you think of MoL.

    Done! Not as good as the previous 2 unfortuntely. The Perrin stuff was good but should have happened about 4/5 books ago. Also, is this really the only reaso Morgase was kept alive? I still enjoyed it, but it also reminded me of how dumb the whole shaido stuff was which spoiled it a little bit for me. Graendl also does nothing really to actually kill Perrin. Unfortuntely, I've given up on the Forsaken being anything other than rubbish villains a this point. Regarding the letter... sigh. Here's what does make sense. Mat is requested to either open the letter after 10 days or not open it and stay in Caemlyn for 30 days (cant remember the exact number for the latter but whatever). The reason for the initial 10 days is to use the loophole in her oath to the Shadow. She is guaranteeing that she will be dead before Mat opens the letter keeping her oath intact. The reason for the 30 days is simply to keep Mat in Caemlyn for as long as she possibly can so that he can defend the city. The problem with all this is....WHY ARE YOU GIVING THIS TO MAT?? Give it to someone else! Oh well, final book now. It feels a bit emotionl!
