Questions I still have now that the series is over 1. Who/what is Nakomi 2. Rand lighting the pipe 3. Where is Olver and the horn 4. Will Mat and Min help Tuon reclaim Seanchan 5. Will Perrin move to Saldea or stay in the Two Rivers 6. Will Cadsuane keep the White tower on the same path Egwene set for them (working with and learning from other women channelers around the world) 7. Will the White and Black towers merge or stay apart 8. Is Padan Fain/Mordeth really dead or is shayol ghul the new shadar logoth 9. Will Rand ever reveal he is alive to anymore friends or family or will he keep it a secret between himself, his 3 loves and Cadsuane 10. Does Mat still have his luck now that he is no longer Ta'veren 11. Who is ruling Shara now 12. Does the blight still exist 13. Did Aviendha change the future of the Aiel 14. What happened to Graendal 15. What happened to Liandrin 16. Is all of Tuon's family really dead or are some just in hiding (Morgase style) 17. Is Caemlyn still overrun with shadowspawn 18. Of Rands 3 loves which one if any was Ilyena reborn 19. Is Aviendha currently pregnant with Rands quadruplets, or will the babies come from his Moridin-Rand body 20. What will Moiraine do with the rest of her life now that the prophecies of the Dragon Reborn are fulfilled and the light has won 21. Is Thom Elayne's true father 22. How was Slayer created 23. Will the Seanchan ever change there beliefs regarding Sul'dam and Damane 24. Will more Aes Sedai and Asha'man double bond one another like Androl and Pevara 25. Now that Rand is burned out will he have an Aes Sedai lifespan or is he now doomed to age and die like a normal person 26. Of the surviving forsaken, are they still immortal or have there lifespans been reversed to a few centuries like the average channeler 27. Will Tuon ever learn to channel 28. What was the point of the seafolk throughout the series 29. What happened to Sevanna 30. Will the dark one return in another age of the wheel of time

Thats a big list, I can answer a few definitely...#12 there is no more blight, it died when the Dark one was removed from the pattern. #13 yes to at least some extent she made sure the Aiel would have a different outcome #17 The city is in ruins but the shadow spawn were drawn out, holding a empty city means nothing to them, they want dinner, they got dead #28 not sure what you mean, they were just another race of people, so the purpose was to add more players to the board, they were collecting land in each region to trade tax free, they are moving to become more then just sea traders #30 the dark one is where he needs to be when the ages turn around again for him to be discovered by a certain pair of researchers looking for their third names in the AOL..... everything that happens has happened before, time and time again :)

#30 - I personally like to believe that the DO only has to be defeated once a *turning* and not every single age. So every 3rd age that comes is when he needs to somehow be re-locked away. (I'm sure there are valid arguments against that. I don't care. I'm going to be as stubborn as nynaeve here and believe what I want haha.)

I see a lot of people complaining about this having to much action and not enough story. There were 13 books leading to the last battle if the last battle had been any shorter it would have been a disappointment. Like “all that build up for this” . It needed to be bigger than any other battle in the series and rival that of the biggest battles of any other series. Plus it was very satisfying in how it wrapped up all these huge story arcs, which was what felt like an impossible task going in. It was also the longest book in the series... plenty of story and resolution. We’ve been building up and up, ending on a high note makes since instead of doing like lord of the rings and doing a cool down.

END OF SERIES SPOILERS. . . . . . . . .The consciousness transfer has to do with when Moridin & Rand crossed balefire streams in Shadar Logoth back in book 7. There was a linking of souls and bodies that resulted in each of them feeling what the other physically experienced. I think I heard from a Brandon Sanderson video clip that this resulted in the soul that wanted to live [Rand's] ended up going to the body that was alive [Moridin's], while the soul that wanted to die [Moridin's] went to the body that was dying [Rand's]. And at the same time, Rand's body dying was killing Moridin's soul, while Moridin's body living was helping Rand's soul live. That's what I remember, but maybe I mixed something up

@@TheJackedNerd. More details on the mechanics of the Link: Casting balefire requires the soul of a channeler to wield it, like a man holding a sword. (With possibly the exception of terangreal that create balefire) When their beams crossed, it became one balefire with two wielders. This paradox essentially linked them. Balefire removes objects from the pattern, but... it cannot remove other balefire. Balefire isnt an object. Balefire is cast and directed by one person, usually, so it's linked to their intentions, their soul perhaps. The balefire that crossed paths became one beam, as it cannot remove itself from the pattern. One beam, linking two souls as it's wielder. That is why they were linked.

My interpretation of the pipe thing is that it's kinda like being a Ta'veren, except instead of manipulating the pattern to make him fulfill his destiny, he now manipulates the pattern to help him live a happy and peaceful life after all he's been through. I feel like him having super powerful reality warping at will would kinda diminish the idea of him not having access to the Power and being able to let go of responsibility. Like he goes "hmm, I don't have a way to light this pipe, I wish it were lit" and the pattern is like "I got you, don't worry you deserve this and it's going to be ok."

  • @TheJackedNerd.

Rand finished what Lews started. Sanderson finished what Jordan started. Wheelan finished what Sweet started (cover art). The Wheel of Time is a self-fulfilling prophesy and I'm glad you loved it! It sure was a journey. I had separation anxiety after reading and felt like no other book was good to replace the void. Go read Warrior of the Altaii by Robert Jordan or his Conan series. It doesn't compare to the Wheel of Time, but you can tell he really has a knack for characterization. More power to your channel!

For anyone who wanted more action in this series, there is no shortage in the final book, its nice to see that the DF forces did have some game plan all along. Brandon does what he does well in spades in this one. He brings some very imaginative battle sequences to the table. #######Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers########## So what does the pipe lighting scene at the ending mean? And yes Alivia just got him the money and horse, the body switch was a result of the crossed balefires. I love that instead of flat answers given to us, we have to decide for ourselves what some things mean. I have spent far more time then anyone should thinking about that pipe, what purpose Fain really played, and countless other little things. I am so glad you enjoyed it man. Cheers.

I don't understand the lightning of the pipe either, it's reminiscent of the power dream walkers have while in the world of dreams but other than that I haven't the slightest clue. It might be a bit of power left over from when Rand was outside the wheel of time while he was sealing away the dark one but that's just speculative at best. What I really wanna know is who/what the hell is Nakomi?

  • @smaug1234

    @smaug1234

    2 жыл бұрын

@@chrissleeping65 You are intended to decide for yourself but.... ####Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers#### One possible explanation is that the Dragon is the creator, Nakomi, and the voice at the eye, similar to Christianity where the father, son, and holy ghost are 3 aspects of something truly beyond human understanding. It would make sense for the creator to put the decision of whether the wheel continues or ends on his own shoulders, how could he thrust that much suffering and pressure on a mortal being. He/she/it would also get to experience the creation from the eyes of a somewhat normal soul for large sections of time . I am not saying this is the answer, just a possibility. Another possibility is that Rand just gained root access through touching the dark one to the super computer that is the wheel.... Its fun to think about, at least to me.

Rand switching bodies with Moridin was due to them crossing baelfire streams back in book 7. There souls were intertwined in that moment. After the last battle Rand and Moridin were both burned out from the power, however Rand's body was fatally damaged and Moridin's was not. Rand wanted to continue living and Moridin has been suicidal for centuries. Because of there mindset's and there soul's being intertwined they were able to switch bodies and achieve what they wanted. Just so you know, there are two shorts stories Sanderson wrote after memory of light. They were orginally to be included, but he ran out of time. The first was River of Souls and is about Demandred becoming leader of the Sharans. The second I forget the name of, but has Perrin dealing with the Ways. I believe there in two different volumns of Unfettered. There are two short sections by Robert Jordan that aren't in the books. The first is a chapter called Ravens, that was written to be a prologue to Journey from the Two Rivers. The publisher Tor had split the first book into two to try and appeal to younger audiences. The other is research notes from an Aes Sedai about Lews Therin sealing the dark one.

I'm surprised people love this book so much. I guess it's an emotional reaction for a wonderful series ending. But technically speaking I didn't like it much. It was the hardest book to get through. The battle sequences were endless and the end resolution way too short. I feel it could have used a better distribution of it's themes and scenes. It was a very emotional end though. I just have a feeling Jordan would have written it completely different. He didn't like long battle scenes, he focused more on characters, even during a battle. There were also several story threads he would have tied nicely in a bow that Sanderson clearly didn't have the information to do.

I can agree with you on the story threads and characters but after reading a book a week back to back this felt like the ending sequence of one huge book so that might’ve made a difference for me.

@@TheJackedNerd. I guess that's why you thought Pevara was a new character. She's been around for ages. She headed the investigation into the black ajah since before Egwene got to the tower. Thankfully I'm a very slow reader, which is a bit tiresome but it allows me to absorb a huge amount of details.

Of course he would have done it differently, you can replace a author only to a point, I much prefer Brandon doing what he does well, to the best of his abilities, then trying to emulate Jordan. There is something that will always be missing, but to me that's the way it should be in this case. Given the task that fell to him, I love what Brandon did. I don't mean this as an attack on your pov, you are more then capable of making up your own mind and its just as valid as anyone else's opinion. Just giving my opinion as well.

According to Sanderson, almost all of Memory of Light was written by Robert Jordan. So maybe some of it was Sanderson, but we do know a lot was Jordan
