So I grew up under this same condemnation. It's amazing that the same leaders who preached so loudly against Christian music now have drums in their churches and sing worship songs they told me were "worldly."

I love it how people who profess that Christian Rock is wrong still go to Church on Sunday, and celebrate Christmas, which is all Pagan acts that have been redeemed for God's glory. Plus, if you have a problem with shouting and screaming, then you probably won't like God's throne... The Seraphim's flying around are burning like fire, and screaming - "Holy Holy Holy, is Yahweh Almighty, who was, is, and is to come." Sort yourself Out, you making a mockery of everyone who actually knows Jesus.

I remember when I got really mad watching one of these videos because I was trying to defend Christian rock, and I had said some things that weren't very nice so I really do regret sounding hateful. I still don't agree with this man but maybe he is just saying what he feels is right. Who am I to judge? That being said, I think Christian rock is a great way to reach out to people. There are so many good bands out there that spread amazing messages for Jesus. More people should give them a chance.

A death metal vocalist who was in a Christian death metal band stated that it would be tough for Pat Boone to relate to those who listens to this kind of music. I agree. If the lyrics are honoring Christ then I have no issue with these bands. Especially if they aren't enjoying the same worldly things(drinking, drugs and scantily clad women) as members of secular rock bands do.

  • @KevinZ45

    @KevinZ45

    5 ай бұрын

@Jericho-xs3ju I actually discovered this video a few days ago while I was scrolling through KZread… and I wanted to add, I agree with this guy in one way, but not in the same way he does; The only sin Christian rock is guilty of is that it honestly just sucks most of the time. The rhythm is bad, the production is pretty crappy, and the lyrics and vocals just fall flat and are mediocre. I’m a Christian myself, and I just hate most Christian rock bands and artists. All they are doing is just trying to simply duplicate and knock off secular rock bands in order for a Christian audience to “be able to listen to it”. If you listen to a lot of Christian rock artists and then decide to listen to other secular artists around that time, you will notice that the Christian group rips off a lot of the chord progressions and hooks. One example that comes to mind is the Christian rock band “Relient K”. I recall listening to one of their albums that came out around 07, 08, and noticing a lot of the hooks and riffs where similar to Paramore (a band which I am a huge fan of by the way) specifically their album “Riot!”. Or another example is “the band My Epic, a blatant rip-off of My Chemical Romance. What I am trying to tell you people is STOP listening to these Christian rock bands, they don’t even care about you, they just want your money, and that’s it. I can think of some exceptions, such as Stryper, Petra, Skillet, but that is basically it. I once even read in one article that some Christian artists aren’t even Christians, some are even atheists, but are just trying to leech off a Christian audience, because they know a lot of Christians will be gullible enough to buy their music, simply because it says “Christian” on it. Do yourself a favor and listen to some actual rock bands. For example, you can compare the sound like this… just listen to one album by Kutless, then hear “Shadow Moses” by Bring Me the Horizon. Don’t tell me they even come CLOSE to them.

Way back in Christian church history, the only music authorized for worship was Gregorian Chant. No instruments could be played and women were not allowed to participate in singing praise to the Lord. But look back at the Bible, which repeatedly mentions singing praises, make joyful noises to the Lord, using the harp and the flute. The point is, any music that is for the glory of the Lord is acceptable worship to the Lord...Rock, Rap, Contemporary, etc.

CONT God either invented things Himself, or He gave man a BRAIN to invent other things that God still created. Man just learned how to use His creations. God invented science, and man uses science. Physics is science; and man learned how to use physics to do many great things. Also connected is MATH. Physics is also Math, and God created the laws of Math for many great things.

I still don't see the problem with Christian rock music. I would like to see this guy go to a skillet concert and hear John cooper's speech before the last night about how Jesus loves everyone the way that they are. Or go to a TFK show and hear trevor talk about how we were all made to change the world. Or go see red, and them talking about how God will never forsake you. However you put it, Christian rock music has good intentions. The book of Esther says "perhaps you were created for a time such as this." God created the members of Christian rock bands for a time such as this, to go into the world and reach out to people who could be impacted by their positive message.

Hmm. Wearing a suit and tie like those money-grabbers on Wall Street? Avoid the very appearance of evil, brother! Just kidding. Actually, if you cannot back up what you say with the Word, it is only the tradition of man, not God's counsel. Let's take Rez Band. What would they need to do to be "holy?" Unplug their guitars? Cut their hair? How short? Not sing loud? What changes would you make to make them "acceptable" to the Lord? Moreover, how can you back it up with Scripture?

Should music be free from correction and rebuke? Should any style of music be accepted just so long as the words are sound? Should we use rap crap, metal, rock etc in replace of the hymns, if so why?

@1kozmon Also, "Singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord," doesn't mean "keep it between you and God." Paul had just said SPEAKING TO ONE ANOTHER in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. One can still make melody in his heart while also making melody aloud. Additionally, several of the psalms were specifically to be recited with musical instruments.

I'm guessing we should listen to only harp inspired music ( 5:48). This was tough to watch the entire first part of this video. I don't doubt his sincerity but there are so many things wrong with his arguments. Ephesians 5:19 "Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord." I put Christian music in the "spiritual songs" category.

I'm not sure whether this guy understands the difference between rock music and Christian music. First and foremost I would like him to define what Christian music is, and secondly to difine what rock music is and if there is a difference between them. I recall a time in my life when I was listening to Petra and a friend of mine from school asked me if that was christian or religious music. Looking at him with disdain I them asked him, "does this song [Last Daze] sound to you like religious or christian music or does it sound like rock music?" He then answered "rock!" Well then, that's what it is, rock music that speaks the word of God. Pure and simple.

I really love how they are trying to help (I really do) but they have small flaws. For instance, while there are some "Christian" musicians who are living the life of the world, but most reach out to the hurt and the helpless (I've seen it with my eyes). They tell people in a world of sin that there is a way out.

You can say what you want about Christian Rock. When i was growing up, christian rock music kept me away from listening to bands like Iron Madien, Ozzy Osborne...etc. It truly was and still is a blessing in my life. Not all Christians enjoy the hymms all the time. People like this guy end up putting God in a box. God can use whatever He deems fit to touch people's hearts. So dude...if you don't like christian rock music then don't listen to it. Not liking it doesn't mean its wrong. Blessings!!!

Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage. Psalms 119:54 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3:16 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Isaiah 8:20

I was sucked dry and bored out of my mind in a Catholic Church with all traditional music. When I returned to my Lutheran Church where I was originally baptized, I was uplifted for the first time by a song in years when I heard "Lord I Lift Your Name On High".

Nothing lifts my spirit up quite like a great Chrisian rock song! Jesus is Lord! The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof (Psalm 24) - including all music!

@outbackcafe okay so your saying that christians cannot listen to music thats up tempo, or that has a lot of layers, well i guess that you cant add an accented beat cause that will make you want to dance, you cant have high volume, you cant make it catchy or else people will actually want to dance, no shouting, (so i guess you cant listen to Gospel), no memorable melodies, no speed, basicly your saying that music has to not be good, define "noisy reved up music for me"?

@patika000 think about it, can you worship a Holy God who sits in His trone surrounded by light, with rock? or does christianity today try to fit Christ into their lifestyles, for example, if one likes, metal, than they will say God approves metal worship, if one likes rap or hip hop, one will say God accepts rap and hip hop, you see what im trying to say my friend

Psalm 150 1 Praise the Lord.[a] Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. 2 Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. 3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, 4 praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, 5 praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. 6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.

So music is a spiritual entity of its own? Or a tool in the hands of a believer or a non believer? It can’t be both ways surely.. love an explanation on that..

August Burns Red, a band I recently wet to go see live with my son. However, I also agree with the premise of this video. You have to admit that just because a band Claims to be Christian does not mean that their message is based in scripture, and in the Spirit. To Christians that say that all Christian Rock, or Contemporary is bad because it has a "heavy" sound to it does not make it bad. Stay focused on Christ and pray unceasingly, is what you hear really Christian or only claims to be?

Hold Fast to the Tradition which has been given to you, both by our speech, and by our letter. (II Thessalonians 2:15 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. (II Thessalonians 3:6) Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances (Greek Paradosis: Traditions), as I delivered them to you. (I Cor. 11:2)

I totally agree with that. I feel like God calls a lot of people to go into music to spread His Word (typically through music like Contemporary Christian) and then I believe the Holy Spirit convicts us of music that we shouldn't be listening to, especially music that goes against God's Word. (Which I believe depends solely on the lyrics and not neccessarily the sound.)
