If it was not for Christina Rock I don't know where I would be. It was such a big part of my salvation as a teen. the words and music gave me hope encouragement and lead me in the joy of worship, inspiring me to lead in worship. and dedicate my talents to the lord. As an adult I faced death Numerous times battling illness and two liver transplants. God spoke through classic Christan rock and groups like Fireflight giving me hope. I found Joy and healing in praising him. He live in my music!

@ministercreek I play guitar at my church, and I love praising God with music. I will say this to you plainly: ALL people have been deceived by the devil at some point; we are all sinners, but God loves us and will forgive us if we ask. I do not believe that rock music (or any music) is bad if it is used to serve God.

all i have to say is when i was 14 or 15 i went to church camp and the bad there played some christian rock songs, when they played "dare you to move" by switchfoot i never felt more close to god in my entire life and you could feel the holy spirit moving in that building. hundreds of kids jumping up and down praising the lord. the spirit was so strong that night a kid that had been in a wheel chair all his life got out of it and started to worship in the name of Jesus. so no i dont agree with everything this guy is saying about music. i dont think its a sin to listen to music as long as it is not going against God or Gods word in the bible.

I am an LCMS Christian myself. But this guy invariably accused Petra of plagiarizing KISS. KISS recorded their track in 1986, 27yrs. ago.; Yet KISS never accused Petra of plagiarism, when Petra recorded there track in 1990. While he is focusing on Christian music, from the way he is talking, I bet he would be glad that KISS members Eric Carr(41) and Mark St. John(51) died young. I agree with holding Christians(and people in general) accountable for their actions. But he is looking for something wrong in every action. Like going through a movie frame-by-frame.

Actually, both Petra and KISS covered "God gave rock and roll to you" originally recorded by Argent in 1973. Petra's first recording of the song was in 1977 and KISS's recording was in 1991. I'm pretty sure they both had permission to cover the song, so there was no plagiarism involved.

@homeless018 The reason why I like this guy, and have learned a lot from him, is because he backs it up with scripture. These ppl he's talking about don't try to hide what they do. Who do you think is going to win?

@homeless018 I agree to an extent. Check it out...Have you read the story when Moses went up Mt. Sinai. When he was done, and came back down he heard the crowd acting wild, having orgies, mocking and doing what they were doing. Moses said according to the Word(and I use the Word as a guild line and a standard of Knowing) that the sound was singing, music. So that music is rebellious music, and it's been around for ancient of days. We can't just change the facts.(Exodus 32!)

@MegaCrazycatt No. This guy was into secular rock. What he fails to mention is that John Schiltt, the lead singer for Petra from the mid 80's until their retirement, was a member of a hard core rock band called Head East before he was a born again Christian. John was on drugs for many years but after his wife was born again, so was John and was delivered from that. John's first cd with Petra was Back To The Street. Every Petra cd emphasizes repentance and being saved.

My point is that the length of their career does not mean that they are a great band. The fruits of these people are what counts, and music is one of the fruits. Our problem today is that we often can't even see the difference between good and rotten fruit, because when it comes to music, we rely on our "taste".

JG says: MWS didn't say anything about "repentance", "turning away from sin", "being a new creature in Christ"...assuming again 1. that MWS absolutely had to say that - he didn't. So what, the church is well armed with capable evangelists, pastors, etc to do that. 2. MWS did mention "straddling the fence". Now don't tell me MWS wasn't pulling punches there. He then proceeded with a song "peer pressure", a very real thing in society. Can't fault it. (new pp.) cont.......

Some who dosen't like Rock might consider it to be a loud noise and well then I think it can qualify for worship! What about worshiping him with drums cymbals and harps. well there were't any electric guitars back then but a guitar is a stringed instruments so again it qualifies for praising him. Just because you don't like the music does not make it evil.

Impending Doom is a Christian metal band that speaks the truth, past these posing tv evangelists' absence of understanding. At the end of the day, the only thing that really mattered was who made a bigger effort to save a soul? A TV evangelist selling a book?? or a band speaking to teens about how we live in a world of hate and how Christ is greater than any satanic influence? I don't know about you, but if it glorifies my God, i don't know what else to say to you people

Typical of most anti-Christian Contemporary Music critics. They take some of the worst examples of the genre and imply that their message is typical of all Christian music. They ignore all kinds of really good and wonderful God pleasing music that's in the CCM genre (for example, Rich Mullins' "I See You" and "Awesome God"). As with all genres of music, there are songs that are good, and those that are not as good, or even bad.

Most people I have run into that truly believe this and teach it just simply don't like or understand the music and so they have trouble comprehended that anything good could come from it and understandably if you look at most of the people in it and the corruptions it has brought with it. but 1000 if lives have been transformed and save. There are a couple of absurd comments here. "Music is made for one purpose, to give glory to God." But nowhere are we told where the Bible says that. And to take a small snippet from Michael W. Smith and critisise it because he's not sharing the Gospel is dreadfully skewed. Godwin spends plenty of time here likewise not sharing the Gospel. Doesn't that mean he's wrong too?

They have cast out the power of God, in faith and righteousness through the holy word of God, and have replaced it with their own do it yourself salvation plans. I agree with most of what is being said here, however, I must disagree on the assessment of Carman & claims of blasphemy. I have never been a fan of CCM music bc it is CCM is a farce & is as the narrator relays. Out of all the CCM artists, Carman is the ONLY one not to sell out to the pressure of the recording companies. He refused to "crossover" which is what the record companies push the "christian" artists to do after they gain some popularity. This is the compromise, & the sell-out. They all do it. However, Carman refused. Carman often states once he became saved, his talents would only be used for God & the saving of souls. His music & sales were used to finance his ministry (he states "Carman the artist supports Carman the evangelist"). Hence, even though he was hugely popular, the record companies dropped him. For over a decade he couldn't get a record company to sign him bc he wouldn't compromise. He finally produced his own records, at the risk of financial ruin. The gang video, "Resurrection Rap" I felt was in poor taste, however, Jesus was accosted by a mob, which would be akin to gangs. The man in the video attacked by the mob was NOT a gang member, but was attacked by a mob (gang). Jesus was beaten, whipped, stabbed, & crucified in the 'garbage dump' of the day - Galgotha. The man attacked in the video was similarily treated, in modern terms. The 2nd video of Carman at a show was just plain silly. It was in the early 80's. Carman has evolved tremendously since. His music & shows have grown far more reverent & worshipful of Christ. The 3rd video seen in entirety is totally about spiritual warfare, pulling down Satan's strongholds, & revival. It is a theatrical narrative, not a Sunday morning church service. Yes, the comments on Carman were taken out of context.

"Tell God 'sorry Lord, christianboots says I can't do this' "? You can't have a sense of humor, you gotta sit in a hard wood chair, read your' bible, pray, and only eat manna sent from Heaven! I truly wish he'd have shown 'whole' clips, & not small portions that support his ridiculous claims. I'm sorry I even watched this man. Jesus Rocks!

Amen!!! God looks at the heart and knows the intent of the musicians. What about instrumental rock??? Funny you should say you play guitar in church because the Church of Christ believes instruments used in worship is sinful in the New Covenant.

This excellent video is bound to get a lot of flack. Why? FEW there are that find the way of Truth (the narrow path) and MANY choose the road that seems to lead to Heaven but in reality leads to Hell. Every minute about 100 people die and almost that many go to Hell. If it looks like the world, smells like the world, feels like the world, and sounds like the world .... GUESS WHAT--- IT IS OF THE WORLD-- DUH!

PETRA MEANS ROCK Wow this guy in the video really needs to read the Bible. In Matthew 16:18 Jesus says, "I also say to you that you are Peter*, and upon this rock** I will build my church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it." *Greek Petros, a stone **Greek petra, large rock, bed-rock And by the way, the rock (petra) referred to in the verse is our belief in Jesus; basically Christianity. So I rest my case that Petra got their name from the Word of God, not a pagan city.

Thank you for telling the Truth. It is the spirit of Satan all over this world. Souls are being lost an given to wolfs. Very sad that the majority of musicians are about money and not serve the King of Kings, the Christ. You know only the wise will see!

cont.....where did "the love of money is the root of all evil" come into this ? Doesnt relate. I think this clip is baloney, like all the others. AHHH, he gets sneaky again: One of my main points: notice he used the pagan city called Petra, to sleight the band Petra? We know Petra (band) chose that word 'coz it = 'rock' in Greek - a ref. to what Jesus said.. "upon this rock" for instance, and i believe that JG knew this, 'knowing that Christians are taught this early in their walk...cont...
