With everything going on in the world right now, the future of sales is shifting BIG TIME.
Companies are starting to realize that it's not always necessary to have people come into the office to work every day.
Many people who work from home can be much more productive compared to working in their typical cubicles!
And with this dramatic shift in the working environment, the inside sales role has become increasingly popular.
So in my latest KZread video, I'll be walking you through what inside sales is and how you can be taking advantage of this major opportunity.
This will be especially valuable for anyone who wants to learn how to sell from the comfort of their own home.
DEFINING INSIDE SALES
Inside sales is a sales role where a salesperson is working in an office or working remotely from their home. The primary functions are either business development or sales development work or being on the phones as an account executive or account manager. You'll have to be proficient with cold emailing, cold calling, and LinkedIn to succeed in inside sales.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INSIDE SALES AND OUTSIDE SALES
For outside sales or field sales, you'll spend a lot of time outside meeting with clients face to face before closing a deal. This could also include door to door selling as well. Whereas inside sales, you'll be mostly working indoors online using your computer or phone.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF INSIDE SALES
There are many different types of inside sales roles: sales prospecting, closing deals, or even account management. Common roles include SDR, BDR, Account executive, customer success, and account manager. You might be an inside sales rep working in an office or you can work from home. In both cases, you're selling remotely without ever meeting your prospects or clients face to face.

@@Feddy99 A lot has happened in 6 months my friend! To be honest I actually became an IT contractor and will be working as an agile delivery manager in the next year. The sales company were interested in hiring me but I had pursued contracting simultaneously and couldn't pass it up. I did 6 weeks of training with them and needed my degree to get in. I think this was the right choice but that being said i still think I'd enjoyed sales

I absolutely agree about the trend moving to remote work, BUT that requires a lot of trust from the employer that the new hires won’t slack off, especially just out of college. It will have to be a few more years before they can put the trust in that process.

Is "inside sales" a position were you actually make commission? or are there positions out there labeled "inside sale", and don't make commission. I mean.. for and outside salesman, you should definitely be making commission.. since your the one who's bringing in the business to your company. So, that a guaranteed compensation. But, I've noticed that there are some companies out there, that gives your the title of "inside sales" but doesn't allow you to make commission.

I wrote out a long rant in which I accidentally deleted. (I'm using the microphone now dangit) So, what I want to say, is yes! There are a lot of inside sales jobs that don't pay commission, and in fact you're making the person that owns the company rich! For example I had a job a call center. This lady hired only people in "recovery". And I was dealing with alcohol abuse in my twenties. I decided throughout the duration of sober living that this job would be a good fit. I came to find out-she hired everybody that was in recovery. I also felt like she was taking advantage of people grateful to have a job and support system. I say that because during the job-( AA is based on honesty honest principles) the employees are getting paid $8 and something an hour and sit there and lie to people all day long (cold calls) and are forced to pretend that they're in a dealership in New Jersey when in actuality they are in Lexington, Kentucky! How's that not manipulative? Definitely screwed :/

any degree is fine. companies hiring for sales understand they don't usually teach sales in school so they're going to have to train you from the ground up. having an understanding of how tech works is a plus but you don't have to know how to code or anything like that to get started
