We Need To Talk About The TAPEWORM…

Ойын-сауық

This is a video that I've looked forward to making... But also dreaded at the same time hahaha. Mr. Meaty is a show that I saw for the first time when I was at a very impressionable age. This show would burn itself into my subconscious very heavily just after seeing only a few minutes of it. To many, this show is pure nightmare fuel. However, despite that, this show was actually one of the highest rated Saturday morning shows for ages 2-11 back in May of 2007. There is a core audience who genuinely enjoyed this show. That's why today, on our nostalgic walk down memory lane we're looking back on Mr. Meaty with one question in mind: Was Mr. Meaty Really THAT Bad?

I think Bluey is a pretty example of how to embrace your childish side, but still being responsible. The parents aren’t perfect, but it’s the way they interacted with their kids that made me wish that’s how I was treated as a kid. Bandit is a the fun loving dad (that fan sometimes get a BIT too into the bit.) who’s still responsible. Chilli is the more serious mom, but she still likes playing with her kids. The kids and adults in the show are refreshing to see and I think it would cool if you covered the slightly darker episode. They’re still lighthearted, but there’s a serious undertones to a few.

Your Spongebob and Hey Arnold videos especially are my favorites. I knew deep down when I saw the thumbnail for this video that it was going to be the tapeworm episode. Just watching this video gave me a headache... Because of the show, not because of you. you did great. I didn't have access to anything but public access TV when I was a kid, so I only got to watch "the fun cartoons" at friend's houses. I absolutely loved almost everything I saw... Those puppets were vaguely familiar to me, so I'm sure I saw a snippet of an episode here or there, but this was too much... 90s entertainment was a very mixed bag, and a lot of stuff got green lit that would have never seen the light of day 10 years before or after...

NO. Shawn, first off, another banger like the Duel Masters video. Another show I felt like the only person that watched it. This show was AMAZING and the written comedy and subtleties of the voice acting went over a lot of children’s heads. Kids tend to obsess over visuals and slapstick. But even though this show was of course visually absurd, the BEST comedy bits are the character interactions and occasional 4th wall breaks. My ADULT mother found this show hilarious and she wasn’t a fan of cartoons. This show was comedy GOLD and I feel like it’s like Shark Tale, one of those properties that maybe ONE OR TWO people complained about and it became group think and “cool” to hate on it. Just my take. Great vid.

Josh wasn't trying to cook the patty in the microwave, cheap fast food places tend to have packages of preprocessed frozen patties as their burger base instead of conventional beef packages, meaning you have a bunch of premade patties you have to defrost first. Usually I believe this means setting out patties under a heat lamp at the beginning of the work day before opening, so they can be thawed and ready to grill by the time customers come. Josh simply got an extra patty from the back for himself, and started defrosting it in the microwave since that's faster than manually letting them thaw.

Hey man, thanks for the videos you sent out each time it comes out. Also I always wonder, have you ever hear the tragedy of Darth plagues the wise? If not, I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a sith legend.🧐

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself. 🤣

Whoa, I completely forgot about this show! I can't even remember if I ever watched it. I knew of it but I don't have any memories of actually watching it but at the same time, I feel like I did watch it. That probably makes no sense but you ever get that feeling where you have no memories of watching something but after hearing of it, you're like "huh, maybe I did watch it?" 😂

Hello. I'm a fast food worker, at a terrible restaurant called Taco John's. I don't recommend it. Tho it does have the best tator tots ever. Evenway, I was only given enough hours to make it by. And in those hours, I'm constantly finding myself overworked, having to do multiple jobs by myself. And even tho I became a team lead, I didn't get a raise. So I got a lot more responsibility shoved on to me for nothing in return. I've put in my two weeks cause I had to get out of there as soon as possible for my own mental health. And right now I'm trying to look for a new job. Which is hard cause I live in a small town. Any suggestions? lol. Which is why I'm only donating the minimal amount. But I also wanted to say thanks. Also, its nice seeing how wholesome your content is. And it helps me destress and relax. Also I can't imagine how hard it must've been as a 911 operator. Seriously, Thank you for all the work you have and are still doing. You have definitely improved a lot of people's lives. 💜

Oh, man. I've never been to Taco John's, but I've heard stories lmao. If I ever make it to one, I'll be sure to try the tots, because I'm a sucker for a good tater haha. For me, working for massive corporations as the means for them to make a buck drove me nuts. Like, when I worked at a call center for a huge cable company, I was getting paid minimum wage to do nothing but deliver bad news all day, meanwhile, the higher ups and corporation as a whole makes billions of dollars. SOO many of these companies are quick to treat people like pawns. Nothing is worse than being at a career where you feel like a number. Feeling like you could be easily replaced... It's just sad and I'm sorry to hear that Taco John's put you in the kind of situation where they increased your responsibilities but not your pay. That's just awful. I'm wishing you the best on the hunt for a new career. For me, when I was in a VERY similar position, I promised myself that my next job would be doing something where I can make a difference, but at the same time, not be a tool for someone else to make profit. That's what lead me to becoming a 911 dispatcher. It's tough. Jobs like that will take very good care of you, but it's crucial to make sure that you take care of yourself. If I had any advice, it would be to find a career where you aren't someone else's means to making profit. If I weren't focusing on KZread, I'd be going through the steps of becoming an electrician and starting my own business.

It's funny. I was watching another video last night that talked about Mr. Meaty for a bit.... As for this show. I just never gave much of a shit about it. I was 14, it was 2006 and obvious that this wasn't the Nick I enjoyed earlier in my youth. It didn't feel the same anymore, all the shows from my earlier youth were gone except Spongebob, on that note, I was still watching the show with at least SOME consistency, but it'd been obvious for a year at that point that it was a hollow shell of the first three seasons, there was a revolving door of shows I had varying levels of care for, and the only show I TRULY cared about was ATLA. It was more that Nick had changed than that I had/grown up. I was probably more indifferent than unimpressed. Looking at it now, I'm more grossed out with it now than back in 2006. And you drove it home how much the two main characters both suck as people. To the point it's about no wonder they're friends. I don't blame you for never wanting to cover this show again. This show also has elements of The Regular Show to me even though that wouldn't be out for another 4 years. But of course Regular Show's FAR better.

I distinctly remember this episode, and another episode where a lady's nose falls off. I don't recall being much of a listener when I was young. Like, I never really processed information too well I don't think. But I still had some curiosity and intrigue. I think the main thing it sought to do WAS gross you out. Not that other shows didn't fall to gross out humor, but it was either brief, or just more tame than this show. It's a fascinating look into a disgusting world that might disturbingly be closer to home than we realize. I remember just how UGLY these characters are, and sometimes I do find it prominent in my mind despite likely never having taken in too much when watching initially.

So, I wanna say I was around 12 or so when this came out but I never gave it the time of day when it aired. When I was in college, a friend of mine had talked about it and said they enjoyed it to which I was shocked because it really did look like such a disgusting show that I couldn’t see anyone really liking. So, I gave it a chance as an adult and to my surprise, I ended up genuinely liking the humor. I haven’t seen every episode but something about this show’s timing with its jokes and its bizarre set ups just does something for me. I think I can just imagine the writers being like, “Yeah, this is an effed up scenario but we’re gonna act like this is just like every other Tuesday for these characters.” which gives it this awkward edge. I love awkward and dark humor and I think it’s something I only could’ve enjoyed as an adult.

So I was a 1999 kid, but I still remember seeing this show as a kid. I think, iirc, it would air during weird times of the day when there was nothing else on. Like late at night and the only channel airing kids shows was Disney and Nicktoons. In hindsight I don't know why I chose to watch that over literally anything else on Disney, but I did lol. If you ask me, I'm just as confused as to why the heck I watched this show as a kid.

So another KZreadr (Slow Start) quoting someone that worked for Hasbro making children’s toys says that for young boys, the top 4 qualities in the types of toys they like are: Athletic, Cool, games of skill, and gross-out. I’d imagine this transfers over to Mr. Meaty as well. It’s pretty clear the show was engineered to be as gnarly as possible, which would be appealing to that specific demographic
