When dodie tried to break up ginger and darwin! I hated her after that. I honestly do not care. There was no way to redeem her character. Macy wasn’t shit for going along with that either because what in the entire fuck?! Macy’s not a real friend either for that. Courtney was not the villain they tried to make her out to be. Courtney really did like, admire, and respect ginger. The second she found out what Miranda and Dodie were doing. She called Ginger and let her know what was up. called her on three-way and let them hear the whole plan. Courtney is forever my girl. Fuck dodie!

Ehh... Macie is kind of like Zoe from the Proud Family, so she probably feels too timid/pressured to speak out even though she knows it's wrong yet it wouldn't be out of character for either Macie or Zoe to regret hanging around with ppl as selfish and toxic as either Dodie or Miranda or Lacienga, or Dijonay and make it up to Ginger or Penny. I feel like even though characters like Zoe or Macie tend to be timid and go with the flow, I also feel like they deserve a little sympathy for having low self esteem and feeling like pressured that they have to stick with their toxic friends.

We all know a Dodie at some point in our life. As told by ginger is a great representation of how sometimes our friends are just as bad as the people who don't like us. It really do be your own people. Miranda was at least upfront about her dislike for Ginger. Dodie was the other side of the coin, yes she loved Ginger, but to what extent. Dodie was always in it for popularity and she was projecting a lot of how her mother acts. If you watch the episodes focused on Dodie's mom she was probably the Miranda of her teen years. Dodie was always trying hard, while Ginger was noticed as a diamond in plain sight for her kindness, good heart, and altruistic tendencies.

I never understood why the writers allowed Ginger and Dodie to remain friends, after all the horrible things Dodie has done. The episode where Dodie tried to ruin Ginger's relationship with Darren should have been the last straw. Ginger should have cut all ties with her after that. For a cartoon that is suppose to be realistic, it was very unrealistic for Ginger to keep a narcissistic, back stabbing sociopath like Dodie around her and still call her a "friend". Miranda is horrible, but at least she does not pretend to be nice, unlike Dodie Bishop.

I think it's meant to be depiction of someone being friends with someone simply because they've been friends for such a long time. When you're that young, your entire world is pretty much who your neighbors are and who you go to school with. So in situations such as those, a young person probably doesn't fathom that they don't have to be friends with someone and can cut ties with them. You're basically giving them more passes as one would, say, a family member. Once someone grows up and has more means to see more of the world, i.e. move out to a new place, or go to school far from home, they can cultivate better friendships and disregard toxic ones. The series finale suggests that Ginger and Dodie are still friends, but I'm sure IRL Dodie would end up either alone and/or trapped in a loveless marriage and bitter just like her mother.

Not cutting her out is realistic enough for a middle schooler to do. We don't know if she might change later on either. She's no wannabe like Dodie, but she's never there for courtney during her vulnerable moments

I love Ginger, and Ginger grows a lot throughout the series - earlier episodes she's a bit star-struck about Courtney and being popular, but that gradually fades as she gets more comfortable in her own skin and treats Courtney like a regular person. You know what's ironic? I recall an episode where Miranda, in a later season, was actually nice to Ginger. The episode was about Ginger joining band in order to go on a trip to see Sasha, a boy she met at summer camp. When she found out he has a girlfriend, she is upset and goes into the bathroom to cry; Miranda, in a rare moment of kindness, goes in to check on her and actually talk to her about the situation, no hostility to be given. I might be remembering wrong, but its just sad that the Mean Girl of the show showed more support in 1 episode than the "best friend" did.

It wasn't until Dodie tried to break up Ginger and Darren that I actually started hating her. I kept hoping they'd give her an episode to be redeemed or at least let her go full villain, because then she could be interesting. But no, she gets easily forgiven or hand-waves to let her still be considered a token good person. That said, it took me awhile to realize a lot of my childhood friends were... not good friends. One that never was around, one that despite how often we hung out, would turn on me just like dodie would the moment it would benefit her. Kind of glad I don't see them anymore. I just sort of wish the flash forward would not show Dodie being in Ginger's friend group anymore though, or at least, not a BEST friend. Instead, maybe just some flowered from Dodie to Ginger for he reading, showing she didn't show up, but at least had a token of good faith to send her regards. It would givet he proper imagery of a friendship that has soured, but not completely gone which I could accept.

I got older, and got upset when Dodie couldn't just wish the best for Ginger when she was going away to an art school for a semester. Made me mad, honestly. Made we wonder why Ginger still talks to Dodie. I guess maybe when you are 12, you dont know theres better people out there to be friends with... you just make yourself comfortable with what you are familiar with. I feel like friendships were different in the 00's too. People were less self aware. I had some pretty crappy friends in junior highschool. They just could never let me have anything good. I was bad at school and I tried really hard, but my friend always made jokes about it. In 7th Grade English I always did my homework and never missed an assignment. She got angry because she missed a few of hers. I started drawing more, and my friend who was also into drawing used to get jealous of me...? I drew Garfield the Cat in chalk on the beach parking lot, and she just was not happy. She nit picked at it. Then I drew Tails from sonic the hedgehog in chalk on the parking lot driveway at recess. She tried having me erase it saying that it needed to be cleared before the next group comes out to play... and I just refused and did not do it even though she kept insisting. Eventually we were pulled away to go inside and I saw the next group come running out. They all ran straight to my drawing. Some of them started kicking at it because 12 year old boy be 12 year old boying. lol. It honestly felt good to see that, though.

Dodie shows ZERO growth over the series. She starts off awful, she ends awful. I couldn’t stand her as a kid and I can’t stand her as an adult. She betrays Ginger again and again, shows her true nasty colors, never learns or changes her behavior, but is always forgiven for some reason. I always got the impression that she never truly cared about being friends with either Ginger or Maci. She tried to drop them at any chance she got if she thought she could climb the social hierarchy. She was just like her terrible mother. Even Miranda, as nasty as she was, acknowledges to Ginger that Dodie is a pretty terrible friend, and that is saying A LOT.

If it had got out to everyone she had lice Miranda would have likely dropped her to save her own reputation. It's been so long I can't really remember a lot of the episodes. But I definitely remember that part with Dodie and the lice list 😤.

The school didn't give Dodi the list. She went snooping and found it. Honestly the school admin should have gotten involved in that case. Ginger's friendship with Dodi should have been over after the stunt she pulled to break up Darren and Ginger. Then having the nerve to want Ginger to cancel a big party just because Dodi couldn't go. Dodi also has a problem hearing "no".

To this day, I wonder how Dodie wasn't getting her face rearranged by the people she humiliated. How on earth was she able to get away with announcing the kids had lice to the entire school? At the very least, no one should ever speak to her again and she should've gotten some sort of suspension. Cartoon logic I suppose.

Not to mention when she wanted Ginger to cancel her then boyfriends birthday party just cause she wouldn’t be able to go. Honestly the show writers let her get away with a lot

Miranda had this amazing sass and sometimes was just deliciously evil. And even then, she sometimes could've been a decent person and even a genuine help to Ginger (surprisingly, in the Ginger's Solo episode). Dodie is fake, obnoxious and self-centred. She is as insecure as Ginger, but lacks a good heart to make it work out in the end - and rarely gets called out by pretty much everyone. What I'm trying to say, Miranda is bad, but she's so much fun sometimes. Dodie is just bad.

It's really funny how perspectives change when you get older. I think Miranda does actually like Courtney but I think miranda likes Courtney more than she likes Miranda. Courtney turned out to be a better friend than Dodie. But we all had a toxic, fake friend like Dodie. I wonder if Dodie was kept around because she was a childhood friend? But she shouldn't have still been shown to be Ginger's friend later on. I hope she just sat in the front spot and claims to be Ginger's best friend.

  • @tierefuerimmer9635

Imo Miranda was worse if no different than Dodie, or was worse with Dodie coming in at extremely close second. The reason why I'm saying Miranda is the worst is because of how she treats Ginger in And She Was Gone. Not even Dodie mocked Ginger when she believed Ginger was depressed

@zemox2534 Yes. But an asshole is an asshole, regardless if they're honest about it or not. Plus Miranda, while being open about disliking Ginger, has been shown to be two faced several times. She would backstab Courtney at the drop of a hat when she was no longer popular and has used every underhanded tactic in the book to manipulate others into doing the dirty work for her. Don't get me wrong Dodie was by no means a saint, and is nearly as toxic if not just toxic as Miranda, but they're both people who Ginger would be perfectly fine without. I've been friends with a few "Dodies" and as well as one who was a combination of Miranda and Dodie who stopped being friends with me because of a petty reason- let's say I have Asperger's and wasn't up to their standards socially so they just suddenly cast me out and instead of telling me to my face they sent someone to tell me for them.
