Honestly I had the sleeve done 2 weeks . It was a breeze. I was working the next day. My job is sitting down, but I had such a busy week making calls data entry and I worked a full day. The only thing that was a little sore was the incision, but it was just one of the incisions that bothered me after 3 days (where they pulled out the stomach) Absolutely NO PAIN. by the end of the first week I was doing laundry and I did 4 loads and the washer is downstairs. My 2nd week I’m now walking everyday on the treadmill 20 min. I think getting a wisdom tooth pulled the pain is worst than the sleeve. I was also eating yogurt and Weetabix cereal by the third day. I was supposed to have cream of wheat. All I’m saying everyone experience is different and can have a smooth post op as mine. In the past month including my 2 was before surgery doing Optifast and my second week after sleeve I have lost 20.4 lbs.

My recovery hasn't been that lucky, I had pain off and on till day 5 or 6 post op. It was difficult for me to get liquids in and on this past Friday, day 11 post op I was getting IV fluids and meds. It really is different for each person. Great info, thanks for talking about stalls, I know some people put too much emphasis on the number on the scale. It can be mentally damaging.

Working in the medical field, I don't say anything to people who I've noticed have lost weight because so many people don't lose weight on purpose. So many people lose weight due to stress, they have an illness like cancer, they have an eating disorder, they are experiencing grief, etc. Don't feel bad about people not saying anything. You should mention it and then people can talk about it!

I had the sleeve July of last year and my life has changed a lot. I have hunger pains often at night. Surgery helped me to be more fertile. I regained my self esteem although I’m not at my goal weight due to pregnancy. I don’t eat a lot and it’s been almost a year and I cannot tolerate sugar fast food and carbonated drinks. There’s not many foods tht I can eat tht won’t cause the dumping syndrome. It’s hard to not be able to enjoy foods anymore but i finally got 5 years of weight off me and I plan to continue to lose weight after my baby is born. I think tht you should get the surgery only if you are ready for a lifestyle change because your life changes completely.

Carmen, sometimes people dileberatly do not give you a compliment or acknowledgement. Some people like you to stay the same, even if they are smaller than you. Some may not want to even be around you, this is not just with weight. It can happen with any improvement. Job home relationship. I looked at your pre surgery videos and I can cleary see you have lost weight. You are doing great!

I was big from the 5 yrs old till 27 yrs old and i lost heaps of weight and actually blossomed, everyone i grew up with all of my life ( except two actually gave me a compliment ) And two others told me that I dont suit being thinner... that I only suited being a big girl... Trust me they notice how could you not if you have eyes in your head... The ones that never say anything are being HATERS !!!!

I've been thinking about doing the VSG for a while but hesitate due to the surgery and judgement from family members and associates. Yet, I am tired of being in pain, swelling, having insomnia and being fatigue (inflammation) as well as taking tons of medications (that doesn't work). My doctor approved my decision and recommending me to a specialist. In addition, I don't consume gluten, dairy, pork and beef along drink soda. Yet, I do have a sweet tooth! I’m in the process of getting my insurance to accept the surgery by getting the psych evaluation and dietitian appointments done right now. I wanted to do the gastric bypass but decided to go with the sleeve because the bypass is a little more complicated. I’ve been doing research since I was 16 and I’ve done so many diets and went to the gym, got a personal trainer and things just haven’t worked. I know that I still have to do work but I’m hoping that vsg will help with the process. I’ve been watching your journey and I’m excited to get this done. About how long was your process? From consultation to your surgery date?

Is it really a stall? You can loose fat and gain muscle which wont change your weight on the scale. Unless your scale can measure fat and muscle you cant prove what has been labeled as a "stall". Do a picture journal instead of weighing in daily/weekly its less stressful.
