I cannot thank you enough for your videos - especially this one. My surgery is on October 11th (after six months of tests, meetings, etc. and this 69 year old is very nervous). Karen, you are totally amazing and an excellent communicator. Loved the idea of keeping things high and easily accessible. I have my loving hubby to help me on this journey, but I do not want to depend on him all the time. I have to be strong and independent. As you said…he may be away and I will need to get something. We just discussed where that place should be. AGAIN, THANK YOU. YOU ARE A GOD SEND.

I just had my surgery yesterday 09/21/22. Your tips are spot on. The two things I find myself leaning to are my pregnancy pillow and heating pad. Something that surprised me is I couldnt lay flat after surgery, so my power lift recliner has been good too.

I have my surgery in 5 days One month before my 50th BIRTHDAY I am emotional 😭 Not sure if I’m premenopausal or going through grief of just surrendering to this dramatic life change. I start minds the first week of October my surgery is next month

I've started intermittent fasting to help with portion control and discipline.

I am watching this video on 9 21 22 it's 7 PM Arizona time which is where I am and my surgery is tomorrow morning, yes, 9 22 22 at 11:30 AM. I have been following you and watching your videos and truly appreciate you sharing your journey. I started my journey officially April 9th 2022. My weight that day was 260 pounds. I am 5' 6". My weight today is 225 pounds. I'm 54 years old. I have been overweight since I was 9 years old I weighed 200 pounds when I turned 18 years old. And have not been below since and just steadily gained more over the years. My highest weight was 315 pounds back in 2015 right before my divorce in May of 2015 and did drop 55 pounds at that time. I have been at 260 pounds for 6 years now. I suffer from sleep apnea, I'm a type 2 diabetic and am on 4 different types of diabetic medication including daily insulin shot. I take high blood pressure medicine. I take cholesterol medicine. I am excited to begin the next phase. Thank you for letting me share all of that information with you.

2:27 this is invaluable information and isn't something I seen mentioned in any of other VSG videos I've viewed, and I have viewed many. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with the NP form the office that I am working with and had to go through great lengths to get someone to acknowledge my concerns. I was referred to this provider by my PCP who I love, and was sorely disappointed with the "customer service," experience I had on my initial interaction with this office. GOLD STAR ADVICE!⭐⭐⭐

Most you tubers will tell you the pain is not bad ! I'm here to tell the truth ! I just got sleeved yesterday & girl my incisions are on 🔥, getting up and out the bed to walk around and pee is super painful! Even with pain meds. So there's the truth !!!

Thank you for posting this video! I’m like 12 minutes in rn and when you started talking ab making sure to ppl who support you through it I kinda got upset cuz I have nobody other than my mom but recently I joined a bunch Facebook groups so when you suggested that it kinda confirmed to me that I’m on the right path ☺️❤️

I just completed my 4 of 6 nutritionist meetings and I'm so close to being done with the pre-op phase. The bariatric program closest to me was of course the first one I called and the first person I spoke with was so rude and condescending that I never called back. The surgeon might be amazing but his staff sucked. The second place I went with has been amazing from the start. Their values aligned with mine and they have been so caring and supportive through the process.

Hi..I just came across ur page and I have reviewed pretty much all ur videos. I just went for my 1st Dr visit. With my insurance I don’t have many things to do to get approved 😊. congratssss 🎉🎉🎉 the gas pains suckkkkkkkk but they only last like 3-4 days . Best thing to do is walk around your house as much as possible , it helps the gas to pass 💕

My surgery is December 12th. I’ve been watching your videos ever since I received my date. Thank you for your content. I will officially start my liver shrinking diet on the 28th of November. If you have some more tips on that, could you please share? I have to stay under 1000 calories.

Love your videos. I am about halfway through all the pre-op requirements. I was disappointed that my insurance wouldn’t let me choose my surgeon. They only had one group that I had to choose a surgeon from. I had already done research and chosen an office and doctor, only to find out my insurance wouldn’t cover them. Even though they cover other specialities at that hospital. But so far I am liking the group I’m with now so hopefully all goes well.

My surgery is in November this year I really considered doing Bypass but I was convinced by my doctor to do VSG, so I recently stubbled upon your videos.. I just wanna say I love them. One question I saw in one of your videos you are Grenadian, I am from Trinidad and Tobago, although my parents are Grenadians, said all that to ask how does the Caribbean food affect your VSG. In that what do you eat or abstain from. I am guessing you are in t he states so certain things are easier to access however using the Caribbean diet what would you suggest?

Hey !! Caribbean food does not upset my stomach but you just have to learn to make healthier choices when you can. Also this is mostly about portion control so you can still enjoy the foods you love. Focus on protein when you are making your plate and try to limi high carb / high fat foods in the beginning. For for example having curry chicken with provision instead of rice.

I have 2 more appointments left then around 4/8/24 should be getting a call with a surgery date ❤I just want to get this over with

Have you gotten your date yet? Mine is May 20th 2024 at a hospital 15 mins from my home, I can’t wait to come out on the other side. I’m not too nervous as I had my 1st surgery at age 6, I had open heart surgery and have had to have many others in my 47 years but I’m nervous about pain and possible complications especially due to my heart defect. But besides all of that, I’m happy I made the decision to go through with it. I wish you the best with everything and wish you great success. ❤️

Hey I spoke to you before because I'm on my 4th appointment now. I just want to know have you ever heard or know of anyone who have died from the surgery and what is the life span for us?? Heyy ! I have never heard of anyone dying but I’m sure it’s happened since it is surgery. It’s not something that is common so I don’t put energy into thinking about it . Same thing with lifespan , I don’t know what the lifespan is for vsg patients but I know that my lifespan being obese would have been shorter than now being at a healthier weight . Hope that helps 💕

I had my boyfriend and my teenage son watch your surgery date video so they could have some understanding of what's to come. Your channel has been a God send for me! Surgery is coming up on 10/11/22💃🏾💃🏾 ...quick question (2 parts lol), I have to go back to work 2 weeks after surgery, do you feel that's enough time? (I work in an office, so I'll just be sitting at my computer), and 2nd will it be impossible for me to bend down to put my shoes on alone? Heyy that was a really good idea that way they can know what to expect ! I was a teacher at the time and I took 1 month off but would honestly have been fine to return at 1 week . And for shoes you would have to wear slip on shoes ( I only wore crocs at first ) or just sit down and bring your foot to you instead of bending . Hope that helps 💕💕

I went on vacation in July 2022 and had to buy a bunch of clothes and bathing suits, I had gone up two sizes since my last vacation my DS surgery is scheduled for December 2022 I'm so glad that I got everything from Shein because it was very inexpensive
