I had the sleeve in Nov 2014. I am now looking into having the SIDS Duodenal Switch as a revision. My current BMI is 42.6. I need to lose about 100 lbs that I gained within the last few years. I am now in the process of waiting for my insurance for a decision. I didnt qualify for the Distal Bypass because my acid reflux was not severe enough.

Great information! Now that it's just over 1.5 years, do you have an update? What was your starting weight, where are you now? How is your diet now? Thank you for this.

Started at 378, I fluctuate between 218-222 right now. My computer kinda dumped on me and I'm having issues building a new one with limited stock available atm. Sorry for no updates lately. Diet is still high protein, moderate fats, and low to no sugars and carbs.

@@ThatBSGuyCongratulations! 378 and how tall are you? Here in the states a bmi of 50 or more is required for this procedure.

Thanks for the comment! From my research the SIPS has a longer success rate over time than the bypass. I would weigh these options with your doctor and surgeon and get their feedback as well.

I am not a physician and therefore cannot recommend any sort of medical treatments and/or surgery. I would speak to your doctor for that.

Did you ever just consider not eating fattening foods? This seems like a lot to go through to still eat in moderation

Yes, I have lost weight naturally in the past. However, weight loss and maintenance have always been a struggle. It took working out five days a week and monitoring caloric intake to lose or maintain weight. After I was injured from being in the Army I didn't have the luxury of being able to work out like I did. As such, I blew up and needed to do something about it. This surgery isn't just about eating in moderation. It's about changing the way your body handles and reacts to food. A metabolic shift as it were.
