(normally I would have waited till morning). Luckily, since less than 15 mins later it was gone. I'm just thankful that its been preserved for the record of her journey.

Paul(?), I think I've watched all the Angelina videos you have preserved and I love them all. Thank you so much for doing that. There is another that I love that should be preserved, if you were willing. It's titled "Amazing Eight Year Old Angelina Jordan Wins Norway's Got Talent! Full Final Show." I'm sure you've probably seen it. The title is slightly misleading in that it only includes all of Angelina's participation in the Finale. kzread.info/dash/bejne/rIJozaOolpTPo5M.html

It’s funny that this is the first and last time that her emotions, outside of the ones that she is conveying in the song, get away from her. Her ecstatic bounce and smile when she realizes that she is actually recording in a studio is so charming. Every studio and live after this is her being so professional and confidant, it’s astonishing to think how young she was. True prodigy.

Seeing Angelina, at any age, being impatient, insecure or fidgeting is a rare sight indeed. She is all over the place - until the music starts: From there on, it's pure Angelina... Her question at the end, "Var det bra?" (Was it OK?) is priceless. At this point she was probably not too confident (first studio session?) - her little skip and grin after the first difficult passage probably means "hey, I can do this. This is FUN!". Her thumbs up to her grandmother oozes newfound confidence: "This is fine, I'm on it!" - and so she has been ever since...

Val, there is one aspect of this incredible performance that gets overlooked and that is six year old Angelina is reading adult level lyrics while singing. Most six year olds are just learning their ABCs at this age. This performance also shows us Angelina’s use of vocal fry even at six years old. I’ve watched this performance several times and I am always stupefied at how mature her sound is and how professionally she conducts herself. It’s also remarkable how she is so intuitive and she has a keen understanding of the subject matter and then interprets the lyrics as they were intended to be portrayed. She is the most remarkable vocal talent I have ever listened to.

She had already recorded other songs such as Hurt and Skyfall, but after this previous training, her genius began to manifest itself more clearly with the physical possibilities that her body already allowed. Then came Gloomy Sunday, I'm a fool on you, Bang Bang, Summertime (!!!!), etc. Performance that makes us really think about spirituality..

@@gary-white- I'd be surprised if there wasn't six more of someone with her talent on the planet - a billion is a very, very large number. As for there being six with her talent that ALSO have the opportunity to develop their talent and become famous - probably not. To see someone like Angelina with truly exceptional talent, be born into the right family that will nurture that talent, and in a financial situation that they CAN support a child's musical pursuits - there, Angelina is probably one of a kind. But I would not be surprised if there weren't at least a few equally exceptional, musically gifted children who just get born into a poor family, or a third world country, where their chances of ever getting noticed, or getting the time to focus on music, are very low, and who we're never likely to learn about.

Beyond her dizzying vocal skills, I think a big part of what makes Angelina who she is is that she absorbs music (from the emotion, wording, and nuances of a song to the creative environment) with such an efficiency and capacity that what is for her like sipping a drink is for anyone else more like drinking from a firehose. You can see that even in this performance where she starts a bit tentatively, to the glee she shows after nailing the first chorus, to the very purposeful and in control thumbs up after the second! In just that short time, she gets her feet under her, understands how to be comfortable in that setting, and starts to reveal the fearlessness and confidence that she carries to this day.

Valerie,I have heard that Angelina began vocal lessons in the after school program at her school when she was 4, in preK. There was a reactor that did 3 videos about Angelina in great depth, but I don't remember his name He actually taught at her school in Oslo but not at the same time Angelina was there. He said that they taught kids to deconstruct a song and analyze the lyrics before they allowed them to sing it. They didn't just let them mimic the original. I think that is why she always does it her way. In later videos, when she was 9 or 10, at parties her friends would try to come up with songs she didn't know. She would listen to it on her phone then sing it her way. I think that early training in school, along with her incredible natural talent has shaped her into the original artist she is today. What do you think about that as a teaching method?

Shirley has been a big influence on Angelina, and one of her favorite songs is "Diamonds Are Forever": kzread.info/dash/bejne/g4Sf26WlhMS0mNI.html I believe that her grandma Mery was probably a big Shirley Bassey fan, which brought this early influence to Angelina. She's 11/12 in this enhanced recording. Some vocal teachers/coaches have commented that they can see the Shirley Bassey effect in other Angelina performances. As you said, Angelina has mastered the style of many of these wonderful singers, e.g., Shirley, Ella, Etta, Amy, and even Elvis. And of course, the single most influential artist, Billie Holiday. She is, and continues to become, an amalgamation of all these artists. And the product this has produced is the Remarkable, one-of-a-kind, Angelina. Thanks for another great reaction, Valerie.

A few things amaze me in this performance. First, timing: Angelina's placement of every note is perfect -- back-phrasing right from the start. She's clearly born to sing jazz, as it comes so naturally at such an early age. Second, power & control: After belting beautifully a few times she backs off with complete control, exhibiting dynamics far beyond her years. Finally, pitch: Few 6-year-olds can hit and sustain notes without occasionally missing or sliding off the pitch. This performance suggests she has perfect pitch, though I've not heard anyone confirm that she does. If not, she has remarkable relative pitch that is also natural -- since she's not old enough to have spent years developing it through ear training. It's just awesome to watch.

@@lindaali6703 I'm quite sure her school does not teach jazz vocal techniques like back-phrasing and melismas (riffs & runs) to 4- or 5-year-olds. Ear training possibly, but her relative pitch at the age of 6 is beyond that of most adults. Her skills at this age simply cannot be taught to someone so young -- otherwise, there would be a whole lot more jazz vocalists in elementary schools around the world!

@@citizenkane4831 I didn't realize Mery was a vocalist (I presume she's the grandmother you say helped Angelina as a vocal coach). Nor have I heard that either of Angelina's parents are particularly musical. Nevertheless, I will observe that musical talent is often said to "skip a generation." And my own family bears this out: musical talent was evident in my grandparents' generation, but not with my parents'. Yet three of the four children in my generation have been involved in music for about 60 years now (performing, teaching, and conducting). I can't say what it was like for Angelina. Did Mery provide her with ear training to develop her incredible sense of relative pitch? Or does Angelina have perfect pitch, and hence no need for ear training? Only Angelina can really tell us; maybe she will one day. Meanwhile I'm content to just enjoy her talent.

There is a translated version of this performance, but the discussion at the end: AJ: How did it go? Studio: Very good especially when this is the first attempt. You had some problem in the middle section where you stumbled on the wording. …what do you think yourself? AJ: It was good…, but there was one sentence I had problem with.

As always, great reaction, Valerie! A few things about this video continue to blow my mind every time I watch it. Her voice, the power and the spot on way see hits the notes is one. The bigger one is that a six year old is reading those lyrics … in a foreign language! I'm 75 years old, so I don't remember a lot of being 6, but I think I was still trying to work out how to tie my shoes and remembering to zip my trousers.

I found this 3 yrs ago and was floored. I had already been following her journey but this was mind-bending. There is a video of her rehearsing the opening of the song that is better than this version but is incomplete. I wish she had finished that version because it was a step above this even as fantastic as this obviously is. If I can find it I will post it in your comments.

Thank you Valerie for your awesome reaction & input. Remember as most kids around this age she's still learning to read & write in her own language (Norwegian) & she was also learning Farsi (Persian) & Swedish & English some Japanese & she's still learning her 3 instruments, etc etc (now 5 instruments) She's 6 almost 7 years old. She did this about a year before NGT. It’s hard to grasp that at times. Angie’s grandma (Mery) released this video it 3 yrs later. Angie has been the driving force behind Angie. God gave her the gifts & she keeps them sharp & in shape so not to lose them or take advantage of the gifts. (kind of like the adage: “lose it if you don't use it” She doesn't take it or anything God gave for granted. Angie at this age, has already more class & character beyond most adults now a days. “I will survive” by Gloria Gaynor kzread.info/dash/bejne/n5Vr1cOYnprRXZs.html Angie was 10 when she sang this. “I’m still holding out for you” by Baby Fuzz kzread.info/dash/bejne/dqpsz8x8mJjPmag.html she’s 10 almost 11 (it was used as a demo. Her mom didn't like a line in it, so it was never released as a single) This song is by Brandon Lowry better known as Sterling Fox & aka Baby Fuzz & co-writers Aksel Carlson, Ronny Janssen, and Frida Amundsen.

Again, Valerie, another wonderful comemnt from you. Thank you. Here you have the translation at the end of the session: it's an astonishing one-take performance! Here's the exchange translation with the sound technician Angelina: Was it ? Technician: It was great Angelina. For a first take. Angelina: Laughs Technician: No it was completely beautiful, actually. Angelina: Laughs Technician: There was some mess-up in the middle part. Angelina: Yes Technician: You shuffled some of the words around. Angelina: Laughs. Technician: How did you feel it worked yourself? Angelina: Weeeelll, it was ok... Only one sentence was... Technician: Yes, there were some (cuts off) And maybe you don't know it's a 1961 Italian song first covered in English by Ben E. King and here is a mix of Italian/English with Bryan May (yes, Queen's guitarist!) in an Italian TV show! kzread.info/dash/bejne/mKGutNV7j8_ZdZs.html BTW, the Italian singer, Irene Fornaciari, is the daughter of Zucchero who wrote "Senza Una Donna" (Without a Women) sang in a duet with Paul Young 😉kzread.info/dash/bejne/p62ux8uim8S-e6w.html

Love seeing this video of Angelina singing Dame Shirley Bassey's Iconic song 'I Who Have Nothing!' I had heard that was a one take video. And yes, it's not perfect. But a 6 year old singing this well. I'm sure that they probably tried other takes. But, I'm glad they decided to use this take.

Generally speaking, most consider AJ's audition song (Gloomy Sunday) to be the first recording that displayed her talent. I beg to differ with that, and it is because of this song. It is so edifying that the Universe has produced a soul like this for our pleasure. IMO, this is a natural occurrence (from time to time) and it is fully explained by Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Ghita, There is certainly is something going on with this child and the often misused (or more accurately "misunderstood") term "old soul" is at the heart of it. In another opinion of mine, I think AJ is confirmation that none of us come into this life as a blank slate, and the tendencies and talents from the past color our existence. Some more than others. l only bring this up to you because of your bent towards the spiritual. I think your "big picture" view makes you most interesting.

You have to love seeing her first Jump and silent cheer which showed her excitement after delivering that first chorus. She kept that enthusiasm through the rest of her performances. The beautifully clear performance of Rolling in the Deep reflect that. This was when her journey in her recording career started! IMO Hope I got the sequence right. I think I did. Enjoy!
