Classical Singer First Time Reaction- Angelina Jordan | I, Who Have Nothing. She's 6!! Unbelievable!

My name is Josh. Subtitles:22 languages. I am blown away by the talent of this unassuming, extremely gifted 6-year-old. Wow! She just walks in and nails it, in a different language with resonance, style and a surprisingly full tone. I can't wait to continue her journey. Thank you for watching my reactions.

Her grandmother was filming the video. Grandma said that Angelina was nervous and was afraid that she couldn’t hit the high notes. When she succeeds (of course), she smiles and jumps for joy. The second time she gives grandma the thumbs up. She’s so adorable.

What they did in Norwegian was to dicuss a part of the song that she did not get right. The dialogue was as it could have been between two adults. Yesterday I saw her perform live ten years after this recording. Now at 16 yrs of age she sings, acts and looks like being from another planet.

What doesn’t get enough recognition and appreciation about this breath taking performance is the fact that six year old Angelina is reading the lyrics. Think about it. How many six year olds do you know can read at this level? This is a supremely gifted and talented young child that knew exactly what she wanted to do in life, as an infant. The fact that she was writing the arrangements to the songs she covers at the age of seven, is the first Norwegian child to write a book and have it published, wrote three songs and recorded them by the age of twelve, won the “Norway’s Got Talent” singing competition at the age of seven, speaks four languages and plays several instruments is a clear indication that Angelina is a musical genius.

Angelina was nervous about hitting certain notes, she confessed to her grandmother. So when she hits these notes she gives granny a thumbs up, and smiles. At the end she asks her teacher if it was okay, he says not bad for the first take, lol.

@@KnuYorker Well, that just requires IQ, really. And it's common for such profound artists to have high IQs, anyway, so that makes sense. It's her emotional understanding, intelligence, and natural ability that is so remarkable at such a young age, if not really any age, for that matter. Based on what I know about her, my guess is that she is extremely gifted in terms of the creative side of her brain and has at least 120 IQ, which is Ph.D-level.

Of all of the young and talented singers I’ve seen on youtube none are at Angelina’s stratospheric level of development, musically and intellectually. This six year old performance is replete attributes that few adult singers are able to achieve. Her level of vision, ability, maturity, confidence, self discipline, hyper sensitivity and conviction is off the charts. She shattered conventional norms and expectations for child singers. Angelina has set the bar so high that it may be decades before someone else comes along to equal her other worldly abilities.

One of the videos of this song has subtitles. She asked if it was OK and he said it was very good but that she made a mistake with the words in one place. She said yes, she knew that and then asked if she could do it again! This is at a school for the arts that she attended, and this was an after school music class. The studio is at her school, and the tech is her teacher. There’s a second song she did there as well. It was her grandmother video taping her that she was giving the thumbs up.

Just to add some insight. As recorded she did sing at 18 months. At two through three she is scrolling through KZread looking for Jazz artists. At four going on five you see her leading interviewer through her home showing her toys and clothes speaking English. She stops and picks up plastic toy guitar and starts singing Rolling In The Deep. At five you find her in vintage record shop looking through Jazz records carrying Frank Sinatra book. She sets down and starts playing piano. So here you have a five year old speaking Norwegian,Persian and English playing piano. Going to school and after school taking voice and music lessons. Taking piano, violin and flute. Her parents are trying to slow her down but she will have none of it. She is the driving force in her development. She is beyond prodigy as she by seven was arranging learning music theory. She knew exactly what she wanted at age three. Her mother states she has always chosen her own songs that she wants to sing and the way she wants to sing them. At age three she told her Mother she wanted to sing for Simon Cowell. At five she tells her she wants to sing at the Noble Peace Prize Concert. At the same time she also stated she wanted to sing for the world and be a superstar.

Singers are divided in 2 groups: Angelina and then the rest of singers. You'll see. Consider doing "I put a spell on you" when she was 9 years old.... watch out with anything fragile below your jaw because it will eventually go down to the table.

Rusty mentioned that it wasn’t her first time in the school studio. The earlier videos are definitely worth watching just so you can see her improvement during that year. Hurt. And Rolling in the Deep. She sings with great enthusiasm and excitement. Lots of thumbs up to Grandma. But not so much craftsmanship going on. Just pure joy of doing what she loves. By the time the I Who Have recording happened she was paying more attention to her dynamics and vibrato. Just amazing for 6 years old.

FWIW, I disagree with the people who say she was 6 here and that it ws her first time in the studio. This is based on her overall appearance and behavior, what her voice sounds like, how well she sings, and what her teeth look like, compared to many other early videos we have of her. Hardly anyone else agrees with me, but what can ya do? [grin] (The conversation at the end makes it clear, this was a first take.)

and a year later, she won her first competition. and in the next 6 years she churned out like 120 recorded performances. Lots of public performances at concerts, lots of covers of classic songs from various genres, a few originals... She is very prolific. She is versatile; no genre is off limit. well maybe opera. Quite a few of her covers are off the chart. Nobody covers superstar Adele, Lana del Rey, Rihanna like Angelina. What makes these covers even more special is they were done when Angelina was around 12. 12!!! This little girl is destined for greatness. I subscribed today. Hi Josh. Thanks for a great raw reaction. She recorded this at her school at their sound booth. As @Niles R Grotnes put down on their conversation. Angie usually does everything in 1 take unless she's not happy with it & that's how it goes down for us to hear mot splice & tape & edit a whole lot a takes together to get the perfect sound plus auto tune. Angie is just Angie she tells a story using her voice & the music is just for sound ambience. Angie is music & gift from God with a God given voice & talent. Angelina said in an interview she is never nervous or afraid when performing for a big audience. Actually she feels at home when on a stage. She simply loves to perform. She has done numerous live concerts and never ever performed below expectations. Those expectations are super high now. Her videos are done in one take. She might have rehearsed a bit, but when the recorder is turned on she always performs so well. Another very impressive side of Angelina is that she makes very hard performances look so easy. It's like it's coming so natural to her without having to really push to nail the performance. Angelina also never falls for the temptation to show off with her vocal ability in her performances. She wants to convey emotions to us based on what the song really needs. There are a few songs she has done where she shows her big vocal range, very good breath control and power in her voice. She is also an expert in making her performances her own while still being respectful to the original. Quite a few of her performances are considered even better than the original. To top it off she has even made some songs herself which are very good. So you really have a lot of enjoyment to look forward to reacting Angelina performances.

Which is one of her first times in a recording studio and she was also reading the lyrics in English. In fact, these recordings of his first "public" moments which also include the songs at the NGT and some of his first shows up to 9/10 years, surprise you in a particular way for that fantastic combination, between the sweet little girl and the incredible one professional with a supernatural talent, who supports her when she starts singing. I loved those moments when the 6 year old girl goes out and shows happiness to be able to do what he thought was right, with a jump or a raised thumb ... but the joy and pleasure that shines through to test herself in something that she love very much is wonderful. I barely knew the alphabet in my language at six years old 😆🤩 ❤️

Yes, obviously, but look at what age she is already recording songs in a professional studio and being encouraged and supported by her grandmother, Mery, and her mother, Sara, and singing in competitions. It is extremely rare for a child to reach the top of his or her abilities and capabilities without any type of nurturing, training, uplifting, edifying and developing. Natural gifts are not enough when they do not find for their blossoming the living ground of thriving and prospering, which is love.

This was recorded in her school for performing arts' studio. Likely filmed by her grandmother, noted Iranian artist Mery Zamani. They are an inseparable duo as you will find out. Grandmother is where Angelina found her love for Jazz by listening to grandmothers jazz collection. Her thumbs up in the video is signaling grandma that she's happy with the way things are going. You will see Angelina do this quite often. You will also find that it's just not Angelina's voice that draws you in, it's her incredible soul, humility, and humanity. It's a package deal that cannot be separated. So, enjoy your time reacting to Angelina's musical journey. Its going to be a heck of a ride! Thanks for the reaction, and we're looking forward to many more.

Mmmhh, rotorhead, agree about all you say except the fact that "...found her love for Jazz by listening to grandmother's jazz collection." maybe it can be supposed but she never mentioned it, neither her mom. In the interview hereinafter she talked about (and you can see her) sneaking KZread on her tablet and going to an Oslo JazzCafé listening to some Billie Holiday (e.g. Lady In Satin,...) - Do you know of 6yo children going to a jazzcafé? 😳😘 kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZnmE07ivnMyrZ6w.html

@@stefanopratola6314 Yes I've seen that interview many times. I don't disagree about the KZread browsing and the jazz cafe, but I believe I have read from Norwegian sources, her grandmothers love of jazz influenced her early on. I may be wrong, I don't know for sure.

@@stefanopratola6314 I can't prove my statement, so I'll cede to your statement. But one thing is a mystery to me. If at a very young age Angelina learned how to access KZread and Type in the first 4 letters of a song, which has been reported, where did she get the name of the song she wanted to hear? It certainly wasn't from the jazz cafe at that age. Is it possible she heard it at Grandma's and then typed the name in at home to re-listen?

By some quirk of chemical response where most people get goosebumps, or chills, lucky me I cry. I have been that way since I can remember. When I hear something, or experience something that defies logic or overwhelms my ability to be able to define something, I cry. It was embarrassing growing up. Which maybe why I do a lot of things, that have the potential of bringing this situation, up by myself. Well now I have reached a stage in my life where I am so glad that I can respond freely to these performances. I live alone and I have a chronic health issue that isn't life-threatening but is a nuisance since it revolves around pain and management of that pain. While all the experts say it is not degenerative it sure seems to get worse as time goes on. Anyway, I am regularly awakened in the middle of the night in some discomfort. While waiting for the meds to kick in, I often, mainly every night, I go looking for new singers to listen to and follow their progress. I ran across a little girl with a mop of black hair, dressed in white and with several teeth in the progress of growing in set to sing a song, 'I'm A Fool To Want You' that I knew was a Billie Holiday song. Well, a 7 year old singing Jazz seemed incongruous. So I had to see for myself. So this little bit of a thing with her hair barely combed stepped to the microphone with not a care in the world. After a brief back and forth with the judges, she launched into this song acapella without a start tone from a piano or a guitar string. Well my mind is always somewhere well before the rest of me gets there. I would say she was about 5 notes in and I burst into tears, as I write this I am reliving the moment and feel it almost as strongly as I did that night. What makes this stand out in my memory is that just three nights before I found a 10 year old young lady that had a voice as big as all outdoors, couple that with a delightful personality I fell in love with her on the spot. The girl was Daneliya Tuleshova. The song, 'Stone Cold', is an incredibly tough song for a seasoned singer to pull off let alone a little girl from Kazakhstan who speaks 4-7 languages and english isn't one of the top three. So in the space of three days I found two delightful young singers. I knew the minute I heard them sing were going to be famous and incredible superstars, if there was any justice in the world. Well I am happy to say that there is justice and these two are well on their way to there rightful spot in the music world. If you haven't reacted to Daneliya yet, I would encourage you to give her a chance. You should start at the beginning with her blind audition on The Voice Kids Ukraine. She also just had her audition for this years AGT and passed. Her blind audition performance went viral and as of this time was at 58+ million views. I know I am pressing you pretty hard but I think you would enjoy seeing this other wonder voice. Thanks for your reaction to this young lady's early efforts.

I just subscribed. I'm pleased you will be following Angelina's chronological progression as a singer/performer. This video shows she was born with a full, rich voice but over time she has learned how to use so many 'musical ornaments' like vocal fry, vibrato, etc. and her inherent musicality gives her the judgement of when, where, and how much to add these elements to the songs. I believe she is continuing her musical education in California. You will need access to a thesaurus as you will quickly run out of superlatives when describing Angelina's voice, interpretation, and delivery. Thank you for your comments.

One thing you will discover going through some of her stuff in chronological order.... she just gets better and better with each new thing she takes on. It is great that you have gone back to this one. When I first made the list, it started with her NGT performances, but I thought this one was important to have at the beginning because, by going back this far, it makes it apparent that this kid was just born with something special. She did muddle the words a little in one part (which is what they are discussing at the end), but words aside... the singing ability she demonstrates here is just incredible. I'm excited to see you go into the NGT performances now :) BTW: I believe the guy mentions in the dialog at the end that it was her first take, but this was not the first time she was in a studio. This is a studio at her music school in Oslo. There are earlier videos of her in the studio doing covers of Adele and Christina A..... but this is the one where it all started coming together for her. This is the one that I thought would be a good jumping off point before getting into her really professional sounding stuff... at 7!

I think it would have been appropriate to also mention the people who wrote the lyrics at this point. Not just present it as "a Tom Jones song", since it's actually an Italian song _"Uno Dei Tanti" (composed by the Italian pianist Carlo Donida)_ with the English adaptation of the lyrics written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, who among other hit songs wrote "Jailhouse Rock" & "King Creole" for Elvis Presley and got induced to the *_Songwriters Hall Of Fame_* in 1985.

Great reaction! If your wife is a voice teacher and have taught kids, maybe next time have her react to Angelina with you? I'd introduce her to the wonderful world of Angelina thru the NGT performance of "Summertime" ( the song she won the final with), her performance was simply stunning... That song is also good to listen to if you want to gauge her singing voice as she has grown older, because she has performed it on camera several times thru the years.

Thank you for another excellent reaction to Angelina. I had discovered Angelina and listened to all of her NGT performances before I came across this one. I think it is about the fourth visit she had made to a Recording studio. The earlier performances were "Hurt" and "Rolling in the deep" and "Skyfall". I don't know in what order they were performed. I watched and listened to these performances and then went to each of her NGT performance in turn and the thing that impressed me above all else was the improvement in her voice and presentation. It was almost beyond belief. In case you want to watch and listen to them, the links are given below. "Skyfall": kzread.info/dash/bejne/gZdpkqqiederpZM.html "Hurt": kzread.info/dash/bejne/n6GBpKSsfJOYpbQ.html "Rolling in the Deep": kzread.info/dash/bejne/f2GF1dKOhsvYhbA.html Oh! before I hit the Comment button. Did you notice that she was reading the lyrics, written in English, at the same time she was singing in English and not missing a beat. Search my memory as much and for as long as the rest of my life, I know I will not be able to think of another child, just over 6 years of age who would be able to read fluently in their native language, yet alone in what is possibly their third language. Let us be generous and say that a normal child can begin to recognise letters in their native tongue at the age of 4. This gives them two year to become fluent in that language. Where does the time come to recognise the letters of two additional languages and become fluent in at least one of them. My mind "boggles".

It's quite fascinating when she gets lost in the lyrics, her intention to interpret the song is still there and she instinctively keeps the flow going and hits the climax of the phrase despite being occupied with searching in the text sheet for the right words.

There are two things I find stunning about her at this age and even more in the "Norway's Got Talent" performances, her remarkable ear for nuances in songs, particularly jazz, and her rich lower register. Enjoy the journey. There's so much remarkable stuff to come. When you get to age 12 and later you'll see she develops a stunning capacity to convey emotion. I can't imagine what she'll be in a decade but I hope to be here still to see and hear it.
