Hi all. Just a few notes on my comment about the sound balance, since it's garnered many, many comments: - I know it's grandma filming on a camera. My comment has nothing to do with the sound quality of the mic on the camera. - I know it's not supposed to be production quality. - I know it's coming through studio monitors. - The volume of her voice coming through the studio monitor and the volume of the background music coming through the studio monitor can both be adjusted independently, which is what I meant by "mix" - With the relative volumes of her voice and the background music set the way they were, I just had a little trouble hearing Angelina when the background music was a little more full, and wished her volume was turned up a little. - I'm not blaming anyone for the volume balance, since it's not a part of the final recording or anything. I was just observing as to why I was having trouble hearing her. - If you were able to hear her just fine, I'm sincerely happy for you. I just couldn't at some points.

She’s actually reading the lyrics as she goes so understandable that she mixed some words in the middle (she knew she had). Not many English speaking kids could read these lyrics at this young age let alone sing them so brilliantly. The most well known version of this is by Shirley Bassey.

The song was a big hit for Dame Shirley Bassie and Sir Tom Jones in the 60’s. AJ’s Grandmother filmed this on her cell phone so sound quality is what it is.

The sound quality of the phone was great. It was just the relative volumes coming out of the studio monitors that gave me some trouble.

Regardless of whether Angelina was 6 or 7 years old and whether it was her first time in the recording studio or not, this is a remarkable performance. Certainly "I Who Have Nothing" is a difficult song for anyone to sing. For the Vegas performances, please use videos from either James Thiel or BigAngiefan as they have the best quality.

In Norway, children are taught English as age 6....but then again she is not your average child. There is a video of her singing in English at 18 months old, again not a normal child. BTW, she turned 18 in January of this year. Thanks for the reaction and this was recorded by her Grandma on a Cell phone or hand held camera.

Remember this was recorded from a cellphone, there's another video from a local TV channel where you can hear part of the finished product and it sounds like... well you can imagine.

This video is totally raw from Grandma Mery recording with her videocam while in the school studio. It's not the audio from the board that her teacher is recording. Although many say she is 6 in this, more recent info is that she was at least 7.

This was prior to her Norway Got talent performance at seven years old . if you compare her face here to her face on Norway's G.T. performance you can see the younger face she has here is not her seven year old face there. She had some baby teeth still here that she did not have there. This was the criteria some had used for that assumption that she was seven here.

"Sound guy" was her teacher. This is her school studio.

The song was made popular by Tom Jones. It is recorded at the Waldorf School's After School Program of Music and Performing Arts. A magnificent performance by our Barefoot Princess. Beautiful 😊♥👣

Actually this song is originally an Italian song from 1961. The first English language version was released by Ben E. King in 1963. Shirley Bassey released her version later that same year. Tom Jone’s version was released in 1970.

Angelina's 'Learning Curve' has been very steep and you can see it within this single video. And, even though she knew she had made a minor mistake during the recording, she didn't stop or flinch. Already performing like a pro.

That's a great point. It's so easy to get thrown off when you flub something and want to start over.

A lot of Angelina's early performances were captured on phone cameras. You have to factor that in. Nonetheless her talent always shines through.

Angelina already knew how to speak english before she recorded this song. In Norway, they teach Norwegian and English early.

How could I remember that when it was never stated or shown, and I'm going into it blind? Plus, as I've stated in another comment, what I said had nothing to do with the camera or sound quality at all. It was about the relative levels in the mix coming out of the monitor.

She attended an American daycare, pre-school and elementary school. This was not intended to be published. Too bad they didn't save the actual recording.

Everybody seems to think I'm complaining about the camera or something. All I did was point out that I couldn't hear her very well with some of the swells in the background music. She was behind the glass listening to the background music in her cans, so what the cell phone was picking up was the sound guy playing both the background music and Angelina singing through monitors. And in that mix, I couldn't hear her very well. This has NOTHING to do with the person filming or the device they are filming on. It's about the music and vocal SOURCE. The quality of the camera mic itself was just fine.

This was actually the first time doing this song in studio! She has God given talent that is how she does this! Notice how she is reading the lyrics in her third language! Her control and precision are out of this world! She hit the one note that is why she jumped! Signals Grandma Mery with the thumbs up saying I got this. Switches from English to Norwegian like she has been doing it forever! She knows exactly where she mixed the words, amazing! Recommend going to her official site do 10 Years In The Making, it was released last Friday!

My guess is that she is completely bilingual in Norwegian and English, and learned the two languages in parallel from the start.... given the background of her family and the time she spent in the US at very early ages that seems mostly likely (and not uncommon in a Scandinavian country)

Hello from Norway. This is not her first time in studio, there are three songs on youtube recorded before this one. Here she has become a proffesional. 😉 When it comes to the english - she has gone in an internatioal kindergarden where english was the used language. And she has a lot of non-norwegian in family, so they used enlish at home too.

Angelina won Norways got talent when she was 7/ 8 years old She was in America got talent champions when she was 13 years old!

Several things here to remember, this is her first time in a recording studio (School recording studio I believe). Grandmother Mary was there and recorded her songs (I think this was one of 3). And yes, she was Six, a year before her audition on NGT. Her Japanese Maternal Grandfather was still alive at the time, he had plenty of time listening to Angelina sing. That makes me happy, R.I.P. Grandpa. Oh, also, by this time, I believe Angelina could speak three languages: Norwegian, English and Farcical (Iranian). Grandmother Mary’s Birthplace.

She speaks English very well and reads and writes it as well.

I think her second language (well .. some have said) that Farsi is her second language. Angelina said that the young girl she gave her shoes to was in "the middle east". Some (yeah .. some came back) suggest this was with her Grandmother Mery and Mother Sara visiting Iran. Angelina said she talked to the girl .. so .. shrug.

Thank you. I know it's a phone recording, and that the sound is coming from monitors. But at the end of the day there are volume knobs controlling both the backing music and her voice as they come out of the monitor, and those were just set in a way that I couldn't hear her as well as I wanted to. That's all I was trying to say. There are like 50 comments all talking about the cell phone and I really had NO issue with the sound QUALITY from the phone mic, just the relative volumes from the monitors. And I'm not even trying to say someone screwed up since I know it's not a final recording, and that the relative volumes in the monitor mix have nothing to do with the volumes being laid down on the track. The knobs were just set in a way I couldn't hear her well. That's all. Your comment was very kindly written, so I apologize if this seems ranty towards you. It's just bottled up frustration that the only comments I'm getting are about the cell phone, which had nothing to do with what I actually said.

Just FYI. This is not a professional recording. Angelina is in the studio at her school. Recording is probably part of her music studies. Also the video is basically just a home movie, probably by her grandmother on a cell phone so the sound quality is not the best.

There's no mix. This is her mother fillming her and the sound is what her phone picked up from the studio monitors.

Of course there's a mix. The mix that is coming out of the monitor. She's behind the glass so we're not hearing her sing directly into the cellphone mic, we're hearing her come through the same speakers that the background music is playing through.

She changed it to a female perspective on the song.As this was originally made quite famous by tom jones as his cover way back when and surely bassy also did sing it as well.

English is her third language after Farsee, from her grandmother and Norwegian from her parents, and she was reading the lyrics as she went along

Its easy to hear her voice. You must realize the sound you hear, is from a cell or camera.

Not the first... there are earlier videos on YT of her singing in the same studio: Skyfall, Hurt and Rolling in the Deep... you can see a very rapid improvement between those and this one.....

There is a mix coming through the monitors that the grandma is recording with her phone. The issue I had wasn't with the phone at all, it was just the relative volume differences between the backing music and her voice coming through the same monitors.

That said, it would have been lovely if the sound balance were better...... the more you hear Angelina relative to anything else the better !

English must be very near on the same level as her native language from a very young age and I think there is a very good reason to assume that. Also you must remember she listen to English music from a very young age so that she at 18 months can already sing in English.

Her voice and the background music are coming out of studio monitors, and the volume for each can be adjusted. It has nothing to do with Grandma's camera.

Contrary to what many fans believe, she was not 6 here, but early 8. And it was not her first time in the studio, it was just the first recording of this title. She'd been in the studio a couple times before, about 3/4 of a year earlier, with songs like Skyfall, Hurt, and Rolling in the deep. I explain in more detail why she's already 8 here in a community post. I'll also try to give a link of playlist with her earlier recordings at the beginning. Note, that the age indication there are also often off by a year.
