Using Scraps to make Bokeh Backgrounds

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Bokeh or blurry backgrounds can be accomplished easily with ink sprays. These cards use scraps from mini slimline card bases with circle or flower spray masks. Then use the spray masks to make a card too!

    Hello Julia. I like that you use up everything! "Harvesting" and adding the little touch of ink really made such a difference. I might be asleep this side of the world when you do get courage enough to do a "live" but it would be such fun. I really appreciate your warm sense of humour and just enjoy watching you. It is always such a treat! 😊

    Hi Julia, I like the geometric design of the cards. The sprays are super fine so give a cool background. So are you saying that it’s the background that is the Bokeh part and not the circles?! Who knew! So Bokeh part is the blurry background. Now I have to Google it! Thanks for sharing your talents! ❤️🇨🇦

    My dear friend Julia... hello! 😊Flowers, pink and watercolour you are talking my language as I love, love, love all three. 🌺🌸🎨💕 This morning I water coloured sweet peas (Altenew : Paint a flower Sweet Pea stamp set) in pinks and a little purple, and then applied some light blue around the flowers to break up the stark white background. I am so happy how it turned out, and I shall be sending it to my mum who lives in a nursing home. Julia, this was a lovely technique, and a beautiful result. Could you have placed some low tack tape under the flowers so that when you sprayed the flowers would stay put? I liked how you gave the cards dimension with the foam tape, otherwise they would have looked a little flat so to speak!!! Another great way to use up all those scrap pieces of paper... YAY Julia! 👏👏👏 Did you get much rain during your thunderstorm? We have had lots of rain where I am in Australia... this year from January up until today August 12th we have had a grand total of 584.75 mm (millimetres) or just over 23 inches of rain, and it is raining today. It is also forecast rain over this weekend, and into next week. Everything is so saturated, and waterlogged, but I am certainly not complaining and I thank God for this precious rain. 🌧🌧🌧 Now Julia, if you did a live I would try and join in as long as I know when... even if it was in the middle of the night, (I would set the alarm especially for you 🥰) as I think it would be so much fun. Please don't feel pressured to do it though if you are uncomfortable, as I/we love all your videos, and how you present them every week. Have a wonderful day Julia in your beautiful craft studio. Blessings, love and hugs from your Aussie friend Gloria. 🥰☕🍰💐💖💝💕

    Hi Aussie GirlFriend Gloria! I hope all is going well for you - send some of that rain to the Northern Hemisphere!! I thought you would like it when I pulled my paint brush out and got started on that part. I didn't have to add any color to the circles, but the flowers were just blah without that added bit of color pop. You know when I did the first cards the little circles were very polite and stayed just where they were put during the entire process. But not those fancy little flowers!! Yes, a bit of tape on the back of the base and the flowers would have done the trick, but I wasn't sure the flowers would pull off well. The reason I cut the base first was so I could harvest the ink to the edges. I didn't want to cut the base wet to do that. I will be thinking about that "Life" thought for a while. It will be another steep learning curve, and I have had a lot with just basic KZread. . . Take Care My Friend! Julia

    @@SeniorSusieStamps Hi Julia, 😊 I would love to send you some rain. Earlier this evening we had a thunderstorm with heavy rain that turned into hail and strong winds. Could the spray go on first and the flowers be stamped on top of the spray? And could the whole thing be cut afterwards so it stays together?

  • @SeniorSusieStamps

    @SeniorSusieStamps

    It certainly could Jan. But you lose the white flower by doing that, and the Bokeh affect. And yes it should have been cut after - LOL I had a bit of a brainfade there didn't I?
