No Scraps Left Behind!

2 years ago I decided not to add scraps to my studio. Rather, I want to use them up whenever I find them. This video uses up the leftover stencil backgrounds from last week's video. The backgrounds are all cut in A2 size layers from the layers chart (link below).

What you consider scraps would look like intentional works of art to anyone receiving one of your cards. What an amazing job of using up what you "played" with in the 1st video. Very nicely done!

Hi Julia I think the cards you made today are all beautiful if I do have to pick a favourite, I would pick no 5. I have never thought of using my stencils the way you did today. I will give it a try, thank you for showing us how to make very simple cards that are beautiful as well. 🐞

Hi Nina! Glad to hear from you today. I think layering the positive and negative images with the stencil papers just wasn't quite enough unless I just happened to get a really good focal on the scrap cut. And using the stencil just adds another layer of the same, and our mind seems to like that somehow...
I am so glad that I found your channel yesterday! What a sweetheart! Thanks also for the link for the bow maker...I just ordered one. Have a wonderful week!

Hi Mari-Beth when I started learning about card making all I knew was SU. So I have a lot of SU in the studio. But now that I'm older I think stencil & ink may be my favorite medium. I love the flexibility they give. And let's face it a 6 sided flower punch works with just about any 6 sided flower image, so I might as well use what I have!

@@SeniorSusieStamps I started with Stampin Up several years ago as I tip toed into cardmaking. While I’m still very loyal to the brand for their superior quality and color updates, I’m now like you and love to play, play, play with everything as I dabble with multi media. So thankful to the creatives out there that grow our little piece of bliss!

Hi Nancy - Oh those pesky scraps - I swear they have a life of their own if you don't manage them closely. I think we just buy too much to start with. And I find myself looking for much smaller packs of supplies than I used to. Enjoy the process and find an outlet for your cards so you can make more!! That's really the best way to use scraps.

I understand Wendy. And, I don't know where that "on the fly" comes from. I guess my weakness is that I don't plan my cards much at all. But if you boil it down to basics - A2 size layers any size, a focal and some embellishment that's really all there is...

Hello Julia! I share in your joy of the magic that stencils bring, and these cards are lovely. I love card 3 because of the simple stencil beauty. I also love card 5 with all the stencil and punch cuteness. I really enjoy how you zoom in to give us a closer look at your techniques. Another great video, thank you. I hope you are doing well.

Thank you Lilly! You know, sometimes editing video takes longer than the actual project did. It can be crazy. And, drive me crazy. But, I frequently see things on youtube that I wish I had a closer look on. So I am trying to give that to you. It might be easier if I had a B-roll camera but I'm just not that tech savvy. Take care, and have a wonder filled week!!
My favorite is the last one.

I wasn't sure how the blue and black would work with flowers, but it came out just fine! I think sometimes when we step outside our comfort zone, happy results follow!!
Hello Julia. I think the drama queen is my favourite! I hope that is not telling for me 😂 They are all very good and I like the white doodle you did on those black daisies. I must get one of the brand you showed. Mine seems to have dried out last time I wanted some added. It is annoying when that happens and you want to finish a project.

Hi Kaye - Could you tell I was giddy over the drama queen???!!! LOL I love that color combination - turquoise and black. It never fails to impress! I put a link to those pens in the description. But not sure you can get them where you are. Look for Gelly Roll 08 - there are different numbers and the 08 is consistently wonderful.
Thank you Julia. I was able to locate a 3 pack of the pens and assume they are Sakura Gelly roll. They came in 05, 08 and 10. All useful sizes I thought.

I hope you like them as much as I like mine Kaye!!!
Hi there Julia, sorry I am not going to pick a favourite as they are all wonderful! I have noticed that you favour these colours a lot in your cards especially when you ink blend etc...! They would make a lovely gift set for Christmas especially if you use the cover from last week's project, minus the 2024 of course. Now is the time to start thinking of Christmas gifts!!! I have always had trouble with white gel pens in the past, especially when you apply the pen to an almost finished card and then stuff it up (excuse me 😉). I am now using a white Uni-ball Signo pigment ink pen, and it seems okay, but I tend to roll the pen between my hands to warm it up a bit before using. I don't know if this is an unnecessary step in the cardmaking process, but it works for me... LOL! 🤣 Now... I have always been confused about the US cardstock weight as you use lb, whereas we in Australia use gsm. Whilst watching this video when you spoke about your cardstock weights in lb's I paused you and went in search for a paper weight conversion. I have found the perfect conversion and have saved in in my craft file in my favourites so now I am prepared. Your cards must be very sturdy for sure! Have a wonderful day, evening or night and we shall talk soon. Blessings, love and hugs. Gloria! 🥰☕🍰💐💖 P.S - At one point I heard your dogs barking in the background! 🐶

G'Day Gloria! How is it on the other side of the world?! Uni-ball Signo is my 2nd pen choice. For some reason my tips seem to dry up on them. I haven't had that problem with the Gelly Roll 08's. Not to say it won't happen though! There are several gsm - lb conversion charts out there. And you are right it is much better to rely on gsm as the lb is not dependable at all. I started getting the 216gsm during covid shortages, and really had gotten quite used to using it for everything in the studio - bases and covers alike. Now I am back to the heavier base 271gsm (don't quote me on that) and separate covers in the lighter weight. Interestingly, I re-ordered another ream of the 216gsm this week and it had gone from $9.99 to 21.99 per ream. Hummm... (Yes that was my boy Hershey) Blessings to you!! Julia

LOL - I thought perhaps that was the case - I would so do that too! It came from Stampin Up - last year I think! And if I remember now the stamp is in the ladybug set. There is an older set that has the same stamp shape, but I am clueless as to what that would be.
Did you mention where your stencil was from? If possible, I would love to get it.
