Scrap Card with Napkin Flowers

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is one of those cards, where you find some scraps and don't know what to do with them. That's where Sara Renae Clark's Color Cubes can really come in handy. I went through the studio and collected things to add to the card based solely on color. And surprisingly enough - it works!! One of the items was a plaid paper napkin. I used it to make flower layers - easy and quick! The end result is a very road worthy Thinking of You card.

First of all, your reverse engineering of a different way to use the color cubes was absolutely brillant! To take those butterflies and go hunting for color cards with the colors + other colors to use was genius! I will be stashing that idea away for future use! Thank you for demonstrating how to create wit the napkin! I have some that a friend sent and I had no idea how to do anything with them because they are flimsy! Your solution is perfect! And lastly, you are so very welcome for the sentiment strips! It makes my little graphic designers heart so happy that you are able to use them! I love creating things that others can enjoy using too! (If you find you want other sentiments, please shoot them my way and I will happily create them into strips for you!) Your card turned out beautifully! I thoroughly enjoyed seeing you create again!

Hello M' Friend! I was very well pleased at how the napkins responded to the white scraps. In future I will try a complete A2 panel and put it through my larger Xyron. I think it may be the easiest way I have ever used napkins!! I am really enjoying the color cubes and will be getting the digital version soon because of the sort function. Hugs to you!

Hi my friend, who made your card designing and color combos together so easily. I’ll try to do as well as you do but that will never happen. I see it in my head, but I can’t get it down on the card lol but I guess I’ll practice and practice. I love going to HomeGoods stores going to the paint department and getting all these paint chips that are free because the colors go together and that helps me even in my quilting you get ideas to what colors go with what colors. I’m so glad to see you back to videos. I’ve missed you. I’ll be chatting with you this week. Little pinky toe is better thank you Jesus.

Great spending a chilly Sunday evening with you, Julia. Good to see you back. Love the card. Broke down & purchased the cubes as well and I love them. Using static cling powder to remove adhesive on stickers works well. Got that tip from Tina on Cards & Coffee Time.

Now I think I may need to go back and get the digital version for the sort function. They will pair well together. I will have to remember the static cling powder next time. Thank you for the tip!!!

Thanks Kathleen! This was a great challenge for me and it was fun to go around the studio searching just by color. I wasn't sure it would all work, but it came together in the end. In hindsight, I would have trimmed the release paper on my trimmer into narrow strips that didn't show outside the edge of what I was gluing down. Did you see the card I made with the rejects? facebook.com/photo?fbid=459981419890902&set=a.183450580877322

Hey there Julia, and G'day! Julia this video came as a complete surprise and in fact I had to look twice to see that it was really you. Your videos are always a treat to watch. The colours of this card reminded me of our senior high school colours although you used red instead of brown... LOL! 🤣 Julia, did you know you can use your Misti to line up your background cardstock onto the card base for accuracy in placement. When I have done that in the past, I have to do it quickly as the longer I fuss about it I often mess it up. That seems to work for me in everything that I do, and not only in card making! I must say that is a perfect saying... "Just because I can." ... I use that often in my craft studio. Also, I love the freehand black lines around the card and that is a technique I do often. I think the less perfect they are the better, and yes, the Pigma Micron pens are perfect for that job, and they are archival ink which is a bonus. The Pigma Micron pens are also great for writing in your Bible. Have a wonderful and blessed day my friend. God's blessings, prayers, love and hugs. Gloria 🥰🌻💖

Blessings right back atcha m'dear! I hope you are having a lovely day! Yes I know that Misti trick. You canalso use the corner in your scoreboard. But I wanted to see if the release paper and tape runner could be used as a double sided tape substitute. If I had cut the release paper more carefully where it wasn't hanging out over the edge of the piece, this would have been an easy process! So, I will be keeping that trick in my tool kit. Love & Hugs, Julia
