OMG thank you so so much! 🙏🙏🙏 You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for someone to do a video showing the tips for using the alpha 5100. I’ve been struggling with the video recording ever since I purchased it, especially on the audio part. I’m currently using a external recording device, but syncing the audio and the video is a bit of a pain in the butt. May I ask for your method of properly tackling this (ex: leaving the audio device and the camera on the whole time or just press record whenever need ?) Again thank you so much !!! Thanks! The kit lens is decent all round lens, I used the a5100 for a couple of years before I upgraded. The sigma 16mm is a great choice though!

im interested in getting one of these and getting back to do toy reviews, but since i liked to do close up panning shots of them ive been nervous about getting a new camera since a friend recommend the Nikon d5200 years ago and the auto focus was really bad and i had to resort to manual focus on pan shots, not easy at all.

Still have my a5100's .... not planning to upgrade. If I do it would probably be an a6100 or a6400. But at the moment for my YT channel, the a5100 is more than capable.

i love this camera but i dislike the overheating problem of it

Now i have few cameras and a5100 is both my cheapest also least capable, but it is camera that i mostly keep reaching for (specially for pictures). Video is as good as on any Sony camera except a7s3 and a1. Zoom rocker, size and screen type is unmatched by any other current Sony camera. ZVE10 comes close in some ways but it still have inferior 1080p and screen to a5100. And no built in flash is big minus in my book usually but it does have hotshoe so thats kind of fixable. One big downside to a5100 is audio. Built in audio is just about acceptable but no audio level control or mic jack just kill it completely.

got the sigma and sa5100 but my videos are so grainy its i cant seem to find the right setting

Is a5100 video recording quality better than dji pocket 2?

isn't using natural light plus led lights making it hard for white balance since they're often in different kelvins? I'd rather not mix temperatures, since they will show weird colors like shades of blue or yellow on face.

great video again arron. please i got my sony a5100 second hand and the USB cable which came with it can charge the camera, but when I tried to plug it on my computer to update the firmware , it doesn't connect. i tried different USB cables but my laptop is still not able to detect the camera. all those cables can do is charge the camera but noneof them was able to connect it to my pc. so I was wondering are there specific cables for connecting the camera to the computer? my current firmware is 1.1 which is pretty old I think. any help?

You need data cable, it didnt worked for me too. Use maybe the phone charger cable or something like that

As mentioned in another reply, it needs to be a USB data cable so I always recommend using the cable that originally comes with the camera. You should be able to pick one up on amazon or ebay.

Yes, just make sure you're in aperture priority mode (within movie mode). and set the aperture as wide as possible (for this lens that would be f.18).

Yeah, aperture priority will give you blurry backgrounds while keeping your subject in focus.

A6000

Actually the sound was not improved when you made the changes. The fundamental problem is the lack of a mic-input.

Were you using the Sigma at the start of the video?
