I love the personal touch of providing buyers with the backstory of the animal who provided the fiber. It makes me feel more connected to the process. Great work!

I loved so much about this. For the line about the wool police, I imagined a flock of sheep with police helmets say " We are coming for ewe." Loved the finished color. Makes me think of a lace collar on a nice cardagin.

I love the postcards from the kids. It is so awesome when homeschoolers are able to incorporate things like this into their curriculum.

The cards and story make it so much more personal. I feel like that’s important with so much of our lives online. I love hearing about other homeschooling families. The yarn you made looks gorgeous.

Love this! It's obvious now that brushed mohair is literally brushed, but I didn't realize that's how it could be done. I really like those two-textured items that people make with a fuzzy yarn and a smooth yarn, so maybe a shawl or scarf that is striped with the mohair. I'd especially like to dye both yarns with the same color (maybe a jewel tone) knowing you'll get a different shade of color with the naturally colored mohair.

The locks are gorgeous but those cards made the whole package top shelf! What a beautiful gift 💝

This is so awesome! Hubby has discussed getting some goats for weed and briar control on the farm. I am hesitant because my grandpa had goats at one time here and they devestated my moms fruit trees the one time they got out. But...mohair! Its a thought to ponder now. 😊

It hadn't ever occurred to me that I could brush fibre like you demonstrated. See? THAT is why your viewers come back over and over - very informative. Question: When you were sitting at your carder and said prep was most important, you were pulling the fibres even further apart before feeding onto the carder. Does mohair need to be super finely spread out prior to feeding on? Did I misunderstand?

It was good to see you handling/processing the mohair…funnily enough, I have some (already scoured when I bought it) and I was wondering about combing or carding… The yarn looks amazing, especially after brushing it. I plan to use mine for boucle. When I watched you wash the mohair, I realised how cross with myself I am for felting that Suri alpaca🙈🤣!

Absolutely gorgeous! I would make what I call a purse shawl, it is light weight, takes up very little space and can be pulled out of your purse if you find yourself in a chilly place. Some restaurants or theaters keep it very chilly even in summer when you look silly carrying a sweater. (I live in the south)

I went to local auction and they had 6 angora goats. I really want one, but I was a week early. So, when I do get an angora goat, I will have your video to look back on. Right now I have 3 ewes and they really do produce more than enough wool for me. I'm just a bit greedy. 😏

that was so very pretty not at all what i expected so much better thank you i did learn a lot i hope those kids loved watching it happen great home schooling idea i would have loved to home school but way back then law forbid it but i did preschool now i am old and love everyone else's ideas❤❤

What a great video, Trish! I love how you showed us step by step how you clean, prep and spin it, and the decisions you make and why. I really liked all the close ups. I learned a lot! That fiber looks gorgeous. I'd probably hold it together with another yarn. Would it be too itchy for a hat or a cowl?

I think you added your question as a reply to my comment. Turkey plying is a method of wrapping your single around one hand creating a cross and then feeding off the two ends to creat a two ply yarn.

Absolutely a great package for you to receive and share with us all! Loved seeing the whole process of preparing the raw mohair to the finished product. Very educational video!

Turned out very pretty. I haven't worked with mohair yet, but I bought some to play with at the MD Fiber Festival last month.

It is such fun watching how you process your projects...I love, love, love mohair! I will clean, dye and blend it with almost anything because I love the halo...you taught me a new process: brushing the yarn to make it bloom. I am going to brush my next skein. Do you think it does about the same as thwacking the skein? I will make 2 skeins and compare and let you know...curious minds want to know...lol ..thanks for your time, it was fun. P.S. Have you thought more about participating in the TdF? Personally, I wear pearls: can't afford a tiara and would have so few chances to wear one. .lol

I would pair it with a wool yarn, and make it into a hat. The Musselburgh maybe? See, that’s one way you can use it for yourself; because the color of the mohair wouldn’t stand out if you have a highly saturated wool to carry it with. I think, right?

The brushing really does bring out the mohair effect. I've also brushed other fibers like alpaca and llama. I don't have much experience spinning mohair. I might need to explore this a little. The thank you notes from the kids were priceless.

Mohair is so beautiful, and I loved seeing all the steps in processing it! What a beautiful color. Unfortunate, I wouldn’t make anything with it, because mohair makes me itch so much. 😢 If itch wasn’t a factor, a floppy beanie or a simple lace cowl would be pretty.

I would hold it with another wool yarn and knit a winter toque.

I feel like you could hold that with something to make a beautiful fuzzy something (cowl or shawl maybe?)

I decided I wanted to ply the Schwinn with mohair. I had some 3 lbs I washed and so I watched this video ro see if possible to run it on my drum carder. Thanks

I just tried washing my alpaca in arm and hammer instead of dawn(because of course idk what I'm doing ) and oh my goodness what have I been doing all this time🤗. Granted it was a different fleece than what I had before and I know they have different textures, but this came out sooooo much better. Smelled nice too

I really have no idea what I'm doing, lol. I've just been using dawn on my alpaca fleeces and it takes multiple washes to get all the dirt out. Im definitely going to try the arm and hammer.
