Is there anything more peaceful and happy than listening to other creative people looking at and musing over lovely fabric? That was so fun, watching Anna discover the strips that she loved :) But truly -- there's something magical and skin-tingling about watching someone pondering the beauty they're fingering and the beauty in their mind.

If your fabric arrives when the UK begins its darker, wintery days and you don’t feel like bright, cheerful fabric anymore, just pop on over here to Texas. When I began making Lampwork Glass beads I was convinced that I had to follow the instructions in every book I had. (No You Tube at that time). It took me several years and a lot of sad “wanna be beads” before I realized that I was capable of veering off the beaten path to run thru the weeds and wildflowers. I have no sense of direction anyway…I simply wasn’t born with it…neither was my father and we make my Mom cringe! Lol. It was still a mess…until it wasn’t. 😊 I have a wonderful following of friends that made it possible for me to sell many of those unique beads in the US for many years. When I began sewing…I didn’t even think about finding the path. I watch a lot of KZread videos because there are so many wonderful artists to learn from….but put a pattern in front of me and I feel so confined. I use them as a starting point and inevitably it goes in a different direction…and I’m good with that. I came across your channel a few weeks ago and listen to you and Anna when I’m sewing…you both make we feel so at home in my own head. I could never teach this because I can’t explain my thought process. I’m horrible at math…but it always works out in its own unique way. So….thank you for confirming that I’m not crazy….just creatively quirky . Thank you for being you!

Kate, you say you're maths challenged, but there is "numbers" smart and then "visual smart, like spacial relationships....and you are certainly not visually challenged to be able to see how to make the block in your mind. Forget the math. LOL The mind's eye sometimes works a lot better for those of us challenged by the math. John is a master carpenter and I learned a lot from a friend who was a carpenter about how to do lots of quilting, "visual" math when drafting designs. Bet he'll be a great resource. I love how your mind works!

After a 7 years pause of making quilting I've startet again. Finding the KZread channel "The Last Homely House" has shown a whole new world of colors, and it's exciting and fun to try these new things. I can see, that a lot of technique is different from the time, when I startet, so I studiet the video intense. I love to see you two interact - take care and thanks for a lovely time. Last weeks video I've seen many times - that is a calming and fantastic video - love it.

What a duo you are in so many ways. The best way to learn a craft is to have a patient mentor to lead the way. And we always learn more from our mistakes than our accomplishments. I am not a seamstress but am looking forward to seeing this project develp. Love all the beautiful fabrics!

I was so happy to see another installment of Anna’s quilting journey. Good job to both of you. I can’t wait for Anna’s fabric to come in.

You are both so wise to make an exploratory sample first! That way those mistakes we all make are discovered and resolved before you begin with the quilt you plan to make.

My Dad taught me to sew, and inspired me with a great love for making things. I still have his old Singer machine, and many happy memories!

Anna is doing such a great job! and you are such a patient teacher. I am a retired teacher, but I would never have the patience to teach quilting. LOL Anna is amazing.... keep up the great work. I can't wait to see the quilt progress.

I love seeing Anna’s delight when the first block of her quilt comes together! It’s going to be spectacular, Anna-and I predict the first of many you will create with Kate. It’s a special relationship the two of you have-to be cherished😘
