I had the same idea Kate. I have been collecting my Kaffe fabric and you have me the inspiration to start. I used my square ruler and marked the cut size I wanted my block and was able to center my flowers. Made smaller squares from the flowers left over.
Patricia here the 86 yr old who has started the Beautiful Birch quilt. I mentioned I had to move from my home and was terribly depressed, well now thanks to you Kate I’ve started my quilt. Funny thing was, I HAVE no Scraps! I gave so much of my quilting fabrics and my scraps went also. I’m working on getting more scraps. Thank you Kate for giving me a new lease of life. 🥰💖

There's no waste fabric here, just perfect opportunities for other projects. That's the joy of quilts. Such a riot of colour, celebrating simple shapes and design. Thanks Kate for beginning another week with us. ❤️
My jaw literally dropped when you turned the camera around to show us the seed packet quilt blocks on the design board! I absolutely love it Kate!
An absolute feast for the eyes. I can't think of anything more lifting than flowers blooming in the middle of a grey winter day. Just want to thank you for bringing more color into this world and for giving me the nudge I needed to add more color into my world! Best to you always.
I like the pace of Kate's videos. It is easy just to sit back and relax watching her (and knit). Reminds me of how Mr Rodgers never rushed anything. I like that after a hectic day. Thanks for being yourself Kate.
This quilt just about sings with happiness, doesn't it?🤩😍
Oh yes a scrap quilts playlist would be a great thing.
POSSIBLE TIP: You could use a permanent marker to mark the edges of the transparent film squares. That way you’ll be able to see and find the transparent squares x

Good idea. I was thinking that you could bind the edges with masking tape, possibly cutting the squares slightly larger all round so the transparent part is the 8 inches or 4.5 inches.

Oh dear Kate, I’ve just come in from doing some planting in our new-to-us home and yard. We are the same age, and you remind me to keep doing the things I love - quilting, knitting, hand sewing, gardening, reading and spending time with family and friends. So much of what I do is to keep my spirits up when the woes of the world become too much for me to handle. Stay well; you are such an inspiration to so many.
How could one not be filled with happiness and joy when looking at that stunning quilt top , gorgeous fabric, thank you so very much Kate for sharing and for all you do...
I LOVE it!!! Each flower is a summer promise. I can see the quilt on the lawn on a hot summer’s day as we all move from the lime green sofa indoors to outdoors for tea and cake. ❤
Just gorgeous! Flowers brighten my soul. 2:30 EST on Sunday, 1/22/23. My heart is telling me to make one myself. Thank you for the inspiration! You feel like a good friend, of which i have non. Thank you for being you and having this channel.

Hi Vicki. Virtual friends can't always supply our needs but remember you are part of a worldwide group of folks sharing tea and cake on a lime green sofa.
I am sure your son with his wood working skills can make an extension table that is movable. Great Mother’s Day gift 💝
I love your approach to the quilts - It's about the DOING and no about TO GET It DONE. I like that things should take the time it takes. So many quilters and quilt hosts are more obsessed with the product insteda of the prosess. It is a hobby for goodness sakes, something we enjoy doing. All parts of it can bring joy - the choosing of the project, the fabric choosing and handeling, the lay out, the construction, the seeing it coming together. For me the least favorite part is just sewing it together. I even enjoy the trimming of the blocs. And then comes the best part: The quilting (Free motion quilting on my domestic machine) People look at my quilting and say: so much work, I would never have the patience. But it is a hobby, what I like to fill my time with, not a duty or a chore. I do not feel it using a lot of time time; it GIVES me hours and hours of joy. Thank you for sharing thoughts on the prosesses and choises!!
And now you know why I don't do Pinterest. Tried it once and spent hours there. I'd rather spend time here with friends

I wanted to at least check Pinterest out, but it insisted that I required an account to even look, and I flatly refuse. I even have a special search string for Google searches that excludes all Pinterest results. I'd rather just go to the original webpage and not get bogged down in pinned versions.

Didn’t need to go to pinterest today, got my idea right here! The seed packet could be a whole garden of foods. My collecting starts today 🙂

Aww bless you Kate for filming while you have a cold. That quilt looks beautiful, I can see what you mean by sunglasses quite bright when moving it around. Fussy cutting quilts work quite well when there’s a theme
Beautiful quilt! It’s an explosion of Springtime.
Your seed pack quilt is AH-mazing! To help you "see" and cut the templates, color in a narrow border to the edges, around the acetates with a sharpie.
@RobinHarris61
Жыл бұрын
Or use a bit of colored tape around the edges.
@merrim7765
Жыл бұрын
@@RobinHarris61 The issue with using tape is, believe it or not, wrapping tape around the edges will add a tiny fraction to the size of the template. If the tape is on top of the template, that's different. A sharpie along the edge will last a long time and definitely will not add to the measurement of the templates.

Beautifu, would love. The kit.
Every time I see this quilt, it makes me think of my grandmas. They were both avid gardeners their entire active lives. I'm much better with animals than plants. I'm new to quilting.
Made this quilt about 3 years agoo. Did not buy a kit or follow the book. Just figuered it out myself. Since I have boxes full of KF fabric I did not need to buy new fabric. I use a thick see through plastic wich you can just cut with siccors and made my templates from that. Traced it and cut it out by hand( less waiste) . I made my pieces 6 and 3 inches finished size. Loved making this quilt. Actually made it for myself to use but when my little 5 year old granddaughter could choose a quilt for her bed she choose my Seed Packet quilt…. And How could I refuse her this quilt? I love her sooo much!
Hello Kate. I just downloaded the free pattern today. You’ve inspired me to go for the big bright colours rather than my usual pretty, more muted vintage colored prints. You are so lovely and I watch your videos daily. I wish you lived next door. ❤
I love, love, LOVE that your new quilt lets the BIG flowers really show off their beauty! Those guys are such vibrant designers and I really appreciate their fabrics! YOUR works are such a delights!! 🌺🌺🌺
This looks like the bouquets of flowers that you always get at the Halls of Heddron in the fall. Lovely.
Kate, the Seed Packet Quilt is the most astounding thing I've ever seen! I love it! 😍

I would have made a picture frame using some cereal box cardboard, that way you can see both what you want to cut and you can also see the frame and how it outlines each area you are wanting to cut. Then, using a marking tool you mark the corners and cut after using your straight edge. It’s a great way to fussy cut your fabrics! Good luck and it is such a fun quilt. Looks a little like a flower garden gone wild! Thanks for your videos, they are always enjoyable!

No No No, NOT too bright, it's fabulous, I absolutely ADORE it. You're so incredible with all your ideas. What wonderful fabric. As someone who's only ever made quilts out of recycled clothing and material, I find myself quite envious of buying NEW cottons to make something exciting. And thanks for sharing this with us, as always ♥
Delightful quilt and so much fun!! I had to fussy cut some of the Kaffe Collective fabric for a project last year and cut out window frames out of cardboard so I could see and move around or adjust. I then used a quilt pen to draw cutting lines.

It helps when you mark the outside lines of the clear pieces with a felt pen, this way you can see where you have to cut the fabric. I’ve done exactly that on projects, it works quite well. ❤️

Hi Kate, I never imagined I would make quilts 💚 I until I started watching your KZread videos. I'm an avid knitter and love creative embroidery too but quilts no never I thought but your inspiring creative projects got me hooked and I've made 3 quilts for our Grandchildren. A flying geese a panda and dinosaurs which were such fun. Now doing a scrap qulit as you go for our kingsize bed with fabrics that have memories old and new. It's our Golden Wedding Anniversary this Friday 27th Jan and our memory qulit will mark all those years with 3 children and now 8 Grandchildren. So I must say a huge thank you because without you our anniversary quilt would never have happened. You spread the love ❤️🎂❤️
I love the quilt that's on the wall. Gorgeous!
I'm a novice at quilting but this is definitely going to be where I start. I just love the colours and the fact that the joy of the quilt comes from the fabric rather than what you do to it. I'll be following you closely Kate. But now, I have to start trying to work out what 'nesting seams' means lol.

Kate, I see you’ve got a thread bunny going. What ever happened to your red/whitish leaders and enders project? You motivated me to start a leaders and enders project and I’ve just finished the quilt top now. Needs to have some borders and then I can quilt it. I’m now using the Terry Rowland scrap blocks as a leaders and enders project. My problem is I’m so low on scraps I might have to create some. 😂

Wow, so cheerful and happy. It will brighten those gloomy winter days no end. I would love to have such colourful flowers in my garden in summer.
This would be my winter quilt. This would make me feel happier in the winter, thinking of spring and summer gardens.
Wow, amazing use of color and big prints.Hang it anywhere and brighten the room.
Oh, that fabric is so beautiful. Just lovely.
I have a set of precuts of tulips - 10" square, 5" square and 2.5" square in the same fabric line. This pattern will be a great way to use them. A simple quilting along the diagonals of the squares and the quilt will be done so quickly. Thank you for showing us your project.
I recently found your videos. I’ve been binge watching a bunch of your older ones. You have inspired me to start a hexagon quilt. I usually select muted colors for my projects but I chose a Kaffe Fassett packet of fabrics in reds, pinks, and oranges. I also started another patchwork quilt in primary colors of red, blue, green, and yellow. Nothing like I usually make. Your use of colorful fabrics made me decide I needed more color in my life. Thank you.
