Why not make a movie based on the 80s animated tv series with the same exact look, but in full CGI animation.

I am a 40+ year old, this trailer neither overwhelmed nor underwhelmed me. Guess I was non-whelmed. Hope it does well for them, but I'll probably check it out when it streams.

Why is the screen so small?

As one of those over 40 guys who grew up with Transformers, I liked the trailer. With so much Transformers stuff over the last 40 years that take themselves way too seriously, I like the idea of what if Optimus and Megatron were wise-cracking best buds before they hated each other.

Looks like a straight to video Bionicle movie with a Transformers filter applied. Hopefully I'm proven wrong and the actual film is great.

In what way does this resemble the Miramax Bionicle movies 💀

Has the same tone as every Hollywood animated movie. Disney, Pixar, DreamWorks, illumination, sony, etc. That's Hollywood's sweet spot for kid friendly movies while still being appealing to adults. In their formula for being profitable with animated movies.

I think this looks really fun! I wasn’t interested at all before seeing the trailer. Now I’m stoked!

"this is for a new generation of people" 8:06 Thank you! I mean I liked the trailer, but even if I didn't, my kids did, and transformers IS also a kids franchise. It's like when adults get mad at the new TMNT being aimed at kids. They seem to forget, it was aimed at them back in the day!

I do wish we got a seriousness Transformers Prime.

As a 46 year old who adored G1 and continue to collect with my sons, I can say that this is NOT the animated movie I was hoping for but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be terrible either. As a matter of fact, I have a feeling it’s going to surprise a lot of folks and do really really well. Look, Hasbro knows exactly what WE want and it’s the following: 1. A full length movie exactly like the prologue on Bumblee taking place entirely on Cybertron with no human element. 2. Copy exactly what Disney is doing with X-Men ‘97 and do a new cartoon with vintage animation that focuses on the ~20 year period between season 2 (circa 1985) and the original cartoon movie which took place in 2005. We can learn about how the deceptions conquered Cybertron along with the backstories of beloved characters introduced in the move like Hot Rod, Ultra Magnus, Springer, Kip, Blur etc. and release it on P+. Endless possibilities with this one….

Definitely made for next gen of audiences, love the idea. But would prefer it to be a little bit more serious than a Nickelodeon show.

As a huge Transformers fan, I was disappointed with this trailer. So many missed opportunities. I was expecting to see Megatron in the gladiator pit, leading a revolution against the governing forces of Cybertron. Optimus as a librarian, who convinces people with his wise and kind words instead of force and violence like Megatron.

Is there a reason why this isn’t full screen?

Transformers is a IP that is stuck between it's loyal now-adult fans and the "opportunity" to gain a whole new young fandom (whether they truly care or not)... Hard to please everyone...

I watched The Trans Formers: The Movie in theaters as a child. Watching the trailer for Transformers One put a smile on my face. I don't get the hate for this and I'm a G1 fan. I'm watching this opening weekend. #tilallareone

I think this is for a new generation of transformers fans not so much for the old school fans.

I think it’s for everyone. Remember this takes place before the war that started (and eventually destroyed) Cybertron. Story wise it’s pre-G1 into G1. There’s a lot of references to the original stories and not so much for the later TF media, there’s stuff in there I didn’t even expect to see and I’ve been a fan of Transformers for at least 25 years.

It looks amazing!!!! I can’t wait! I’m so excited!!!

Wasn't a fan of the trailer at all; way too silly for me. Hopefully the next one gives a look at the more serious side of the movie, if there is one.

It's fine to take a different, fun tone, but the humor on display in the trailer looked so absolutely generic and uninspired that I expected it to end with Smash Mouth.

Visuals were cool, dialogue was ass. The Garfield trailer was better than that imo.

Gonna be honest, I actually like this original take on transformers. We have never seen the origin in great detail. It is a way to get a new generation into this, which I support. I'm sure the sequels to this will be darker. I'll see it

So many quips but they actually worked for me I was laughing at like 80% of them

I grew up with the G1 Transformers. I was skeptical at first, but by the time I finished watching the trailer, I was all for it. I thought it was hilarious and it's telling a story not many know about. When Bumblebee turned around and ran away after that explosion, I was on board. I think it's going to be a fun and a hilarious good time. I'm looking forward to taking my nephews to see this movie.

This trailer gave me, "Thor: Love and Thunder" level of badness vibes.

I am glad we saw Shockwave, Starscream, and Soundwave

no one hates transformers more than its fanbase

I am a little disappointed that this cartoon was not geared more towards adults. But I get it, Hasbro wants to sell toys. That being said, I have an open mind all the time for things. So I will judge it after I see it.

Yea I'll definitely be watching it..gotta make sure I pre-order my ticket

The friendship between turns to enemies. The will blame it on a woman, don't let them do it Enita-1!

I know this is for the kids but I wouldn't mind one with the art style of War for Cybertron with a adult storyline. Show Megatron as a slave/gladiator moving up the ranks becoming a revolutionary political figure calling Cybertron out on their bs then have Orion Pax befriend and even look up to him as a mentor. Megatron becomes corrupt from power and Pax confronts him with Megatron killing him in the process. War breaks out with Megatron as leader. Meanwhile Pax's body ends up in Alpha Trion's hands with him creating Optimus Prime leading to a sequel.

John expresses how I felt as I watched the trailer. First 30 seconds I was like, “I don’t like this direction…” but within a min, giving the trailer more time, I started to warm up to it. By the end of the trailer, I’m looking forward to seeing how this plays out. This could be excellent. A missed opportunity to using the Transformer animated film theme song tho, “You’ve Got The Touch” should have been apart of the trailer.

Glad you posted this. Just watched Kristian Harloff, Kris Carr and Winston Marshall crap all over the trailer. All movies are subjective and maybe, just maybe i might like this. Or not. Hopefully the movie will be fun.

I've watched the original G1 cartoon, the original animated movie, the spin off series, and the live action movies. I've also played the games, especially the "War for Cybertron" series. I've also dabbled in the comics. I loved the idea of going back and seeing Orion Pax and D-16 in a movie. They were thinkers, very intelligent, like Professor X and Magneto. Hard to think "these guys are smart" when they're falling off a cliff at the count of 1. I'm still optimistic that it can be good, but i hope this isn't a sign of how they'll be throughout the movie.

As someone who grew up watching armada, Prime, animated series, G1 playing the war for cybertron games & bay films I’m hyped this seems to be a completely different take than we’ve seen before but I do wonder is this a prequel to bumblebee/ROTB I’ve seen some other comments saying it is & isnt although

Although this film looks like fun for younger audiences which is understandable. All we really want is a film with a good story and great action like the War and Fall of Cybertron games

I'm 45 and I think the trailer was great. Yea it may be a little too silly, but it didn't feel like a Minions movie. I absolutely LOVE the animation style. I also understand that this movie is not catering to people that grew up with Transformers, at least not 100%, but this movie is going to pull in millions of young new Transformers fans. This movie looks perfect for kids and they are going to fall in love with these characters and want the toys.

Heh it almost have certain TMNT vibe! Optimus/Orion is young Leo, Megatron is Raph, Bumblebee Mikey and i guess that would make girl Donatello? Not sure about last one, is she suppose to be smart? If so, that would kinda work.

I’ve never been a fan of Megatron and Prime having a past “friendship”. Megs needs to be evil, pure and simple. A thirst for conquest and ruthlessness to all life, organic and cybertronian, anything that stands in his way for ultimate power. This trailer shows none of that. The movie might get into more, but first impressions… it’s a buddy cop movie meant for the Paw Patrol generations.

The best origin was the one that originated from the UK comics "State Games". The UK comics were very adult in tone.

Always wanted to see a story like this on the big screen but I’m skeptical after watching that trailer hopefully the next trailer does a better job selling me

Been watching Transformers since 1984 - this isn't that bad (based upon one trailer) & is the change of pace that the TF movieverse needs.

I wasn't expecting much..... But as a long-time G1 fan, I gotta say..... This looks like it's gonna be funny AF 😂

I am a huge transformers fan. I have remained loyal acrosss all the movies. I am still very optimistic about this coming movie. I was just caught off guard by this trailer. Many seem to share my sentiment. I really hope this pays off as Paramount take a brave new step. I am starting to think this trailer is purposefully misleading and the tone of the film changes as it progresses.

I hope I will like it once it comes out. I dont think Megatron and Optimous were buddies in the Marvel Comics and other version of comics.

Go back and watch the G1 cartoon... they do a flashback episode (or a flashback within an episode) showing Orion Pax and a young Megatron back on Cybertron and yes they were friends/buds

Hahaha even though I know this was a legit call, it reminded me of that one producer from the The Death of Superman Lives documentary. Where you could tell that he planned for someone to call him in the middle of the interview, so that he could look like a big boss man making important moves😂.

Orion Pax and D-16 give me Moses and Ramses vibes.

Huge Transformers fan since G1 and I honestly like the trailer. We'll see when the film actually comes out.

I wonder why they made Megatron so goofy in his demeanour. I would assume he's more serious and Optimus is more light hearted so they can be foils to each other, like Sonic and Knuckles. If I just listen to the voice lines in isolation with no context, and I were asked to guess which Transformers character it would be, my top guess would be Jazz and Megatron would be nowhere near the top. Heck if I just closed my eyes and listen to this trailer, you could even convince me that it was an origin story of Optimus, Bumblebee and Mirage. Since Mirage was so heavily featured in Rise of the Beasts, I'd actually buy it that he's one of Optimus's main sidekicks in the prequel too.

I don't know, I really like the new take. I mean I grew up in the 80s, loved G1 + Beast Wars + Transformers Prime. I got the shout factories G1 disc Season 1-3.

in the trailer, after the "wheels I need wheels" line from bumblebee you can see a brief shot of megatron's vehicle form, looks like a tank

Bumblebee making death threats and casually killing others while laughing makes this an instant fail. 🙄🙄

Some of these characters have been shown before in the past in different mediums, just not in mainstream big screen format like this. Hopefully it'll do well. These 2 main characters are indeed in the vain of a Charles and an Erik.

I dunno. I'll admit the trailer made me chuckle a couple of times, but the constant quipping and talk of controlling their "powers" felt very MCU meets Power Rangers. I'm not a G1 purist, but at a time when I'm tired of what the MCU is pumping out, I don't want the same thing in Transformers flavour.

I hope the younger generation has fun with this but unfortunately this is a version of Transformers that's not for me.

I get why most people are upset but you gotta realize that this is an origin story.. so of course they’re going to sound different and act different, that’s the whole point of this origin story. Would I had prefer something more mature & dark? Sure.. but I personally enjoyed the trailer and I’m willing to give it a chance; especially after I saw Soundwave, Shockwave and Starscream. Hopefully this movie turns out good, I’m just excited overall that we’re getting another Transformers film 🎥 in theaters!

Transformers defiance comic series in an animated film. That's what it should be.

Not 40 yet, and didn't know about this at all, so no preconceived expectations, but I found the comedy in the trailer jarring. Everything having to be funny or quirky now is so exhausting, and quite frankly, boring! The thumbnail for the trailer I saw, Prime had a big old smile on his face. I was like WTF is this? Other than that, animation looks alright, maybe story will be okay if not too generic. I grew up with the '80s cartoon, had some of the toys, watched Beasties/Beast Wars when I was a kid, and was mildly entertained by the live action films, but unless my kids want to see it, I won't be seeing this in cinema.

Who is this movie for? I felt like I was watching a bad Antz/Cars. Also you loose all credibility as a G1 fan.

Not a fan of the slap stick style of the comedy.

Bay's Optimus Prime is not true to the character. The best Prime since G1 was on Transformers Prime. They are trying to turn Megatron and Optimus into a buddy cop kind of film which is why the tone feels so off

This is one i will wait for it on the streaming site. IDK the humor and i have to disagree with the voices to the characters. I wasn't a fan from this trailer to some characters voices.

don't know what the hell ya'll were looking at.

There are people who only know Transformers as a franchise where Optimus Prime says "Give me your face" and "We'll kill them all". Admittedly that's most of my experience with Transformers. But lets be real here, it was originally a cartoon designed to sell toys. And appealing to children doesn't mean it's automatically awful. I personally thought the visual style was really well designed and while the kind of comedy it's using can be very hit or miss I'll give it a shot. I'll also add that I totally get why anyone wouldn't be interested in this. I'm not 100% sold on it but I'd like to see more.

I was and have always been interested in the story of the Transformers Origin. However, the trailer seemed intentionally geared to a younger audience, and seems more kiddie than the orginal G1 series and orginal Transformers Animated Movie and maybe that's who it's for. I will see this, but I will not pay for a ticket to watch this in the theater filled with 10 yr olds.

Sorry it’s way too silly. Your right it’s not for 40plus old people but it’s seems to be tailored to kids under 10 years old. Which is fine but I won’t be watching it
