I had that Tilley hat 30-odd years ago. I liked it. Then I got the "bright idea" of adding a solar powered fan and giving it my girlfriend at the time as an anniversary present, since she was very sensitive to sun and heat. What a disaster. The first time she turned it on, the fan instantly caught and tangled her hair, ruining both the fan and her hair. I never saw that hat again. After that, I got a Sunday Afternoon hat. I liked it better, because it had a longer brim in front to cover my big nose, and a longer back area to cover my neck. I've had that hat for 29 years now. I still wore it all the time up until a few years ago, For the last few years, I've stopped wearing hats. As I've adopted a more ancestral lifestyle, I've stopped avoiding sun exposure. At the same time, when I cut polyunsaturated vegetable oils out of my diet, I stopped getting sunburns. (I know that sounds weird, but lots of carnivores mention that they no longer sunburn. It's been true for me. Look it up.) So, now I just drink enough water to stay cool, and let the sun beat down on me.

Most of the time I wear either a ball cap or a BDU type cap. But if I ever have to hoof it home it’s in my truck ready for me. When you are as bald as me that head will cook in the sun!!!

They don’t warranty it for shrinkage despite following their instructions for washing, drying, and stretching. Waste of my $$

Tilley hats were the best when Alex Tilley was the owner, and everything was manufactured in Canada. Alex sold the company about ten years ago, the company was sold again shortly after, and the new owners have since outsourced manufacturing to China. Now, sadly, Tilley hats are no better than any other "Made in China" hat you can buy for $10 at the supermarket.
