Mark is not qualified to make football decisions & he doesn’t trust there inexperienced(rightfully so). So, he wants someone who is experienced to oversee & help guide them. Imo i like the move if he does make the hire.

@@rollen901 she’s more on the business side of things. What I’m referring to is on the football side. The the position responsibilities varies from team to team but the Raiders(Mark Davis) want an experienced “football mind” in the building to help with the potential inexperienced they might have with a rookie gm & coach.

Mike Mayock sounds ike he would fit the bill in terms of eye for talent but hes not as experienced as the person you're describing. It would have to be someone with a connection to the organization or that has years of experience in the NFL as a coach or player. Will McClay of the Cowboys has never held the GM role but has been with that organization for over 20 years & is responsible for much of the talent they've accumulated over the years. Bring him in with a promotion of sorts to oversee Champ & AP & you have the makings of the most fundamentally sound front office/ staff the Raiders have ever had in-house.

Well, I definitely think AP is the guy for the coach. Hasn't Champ been an Assistant GM already? So if experience or "football guys" is what Davis wants, it's already in place. Just make it permanent.

Ap got rid of peters and got his boy jack. Hes not even the full time coach and making moves. He will figure it out.
