The Wilsonian Movie Museum's Guide to Making a Magnet Steelbook Wall
Фильм және анимация
Hey Everyone. Thanks for tuning in to this quick guide on how I create my super cool Steelbook walls. Hopefully this will help anyone looking to do the same with their movie steelbooks... after all, steelbooks are far too beautiful to keep on a shelf 😁.
For anyone looking to purchase the magnets - this is where I get mine from here in Australia:
www.officeworks.com.au/shop/o...
The ultra strong Scotch tape can be sourced from any good local hardware/DIY store.
Thanks for watching.

Thanks Adrian. Appreciate the kind words. Cheers.
Your Movie Collection/Display Room is a Visual Tour de Force.....no competition 🍻
Awesome video helped me out heaps have already purchased my magnets from office works ... hope to see more videos from you soon
Cool. Finished result looks fantastic.
Thank you so much for this. I’ve been searching for a good solution forever.
Sweet as, thanks for the video. Looking forward to the next one.
Awesome video. Explained the hurdles, the reasons why you chose and showcased your collection and your legitimacy. 👍
Your collection is just amazing, so much hard work and of course money has gone into this. I only can aspire to having anything close to this one day. Keep safe all the best 👍🏻
Great video!! I love your library of movies and really enjoy the display cases you have for your special collectibles! Also, great idea for the steelbooks to be displayed. Keep making more awesome videos!!

Another great informative video, can't get the magnets online in UK but will keep looking. John
Thanks for the video, very informative. Sadly I run out of walls long time ago.
Very cool!
That is so fucking cool. I love steel book video games but don’t have near as many as you do steel book movies. Super cool that everything is interchangeable!
thanks for the guide
NICE!
Thx for the warning :D since i just here for rent.... that extreme strong tape should be used with care ^^ but it looks absolut great!
Great video mate! Looks really effective, and like you mention something that can easily be changed as you get new steelbooks. You should definitely do more videos focusing on specific areas of your collection 👍🏻 💿 💿 💿

Thanks buddy. More videos would be nice. I've got lots of ideas but too little time to do them. The next off monthly one will be the updated tour video now it's all in arranged A-Z. That's going to be fun to do 👍
omg 😍 amazing .... top
Your room is freaking amazing 🤩🔥🤘🏼I have a question what is the grey behind the magnet?
Hi. Wonderfull vid and explanation. I was wondering if you are able to hang steels with plastic protector so they don't get dusty?? Is the magnet strong enough to go through the plastic protector and stick to the steelbook?
Another amazing video. That you so much for the tutorial. I see it's a Seattle based company, but does anyone know where to buy these magnets in the United States? Anyone recommend trying them on regular old drywall?
1:30 is where the information is given after talking in circles👍😄
Wish I could find these in the UK. Any help would be great please
Badass room
This may be a silly question, but does "magnetizism" mess with the Discs' playback ability?

Interesting.
scotchtape collection cool
What if you have your Steelbook collection in those plastic protective cases? Would the magnets be able to hold them?
Hard to believe those magnets are not available in the States. Even direct from Three By Three in Seattle, They sell some similar but they have hooks.
Hi would these stick slightly slightly 3d pattern wallpaper?
wouldn't a magnet affect the Bluray disc itself ?
How are they still holding up I’m thinking about doing this
Where are you getting your steelbooks from?
👌✨
Does that tape damage the wall when you remove it? I’m renting and want to do this but I don’t want to damage the walls

Did you ever find an answer to this?

I used this on my wall at work and yes, it will damage your wall.
Hi. Regarding removing the magnets... Try using fishing line to cut the tape loose. Wrap the ends of the line around something hard and work it back and forth to cut the tape. Don't wrap it around yourself and cut your skin.

Hi Darryl. That's an awesome suggestion dude. Thanks for tip 👍
Hello, the magnets say they are only rated for 8 sheets of paper (in weight) which is at least 1/4 of what a steelbook weighs, are you sure you haven't had any issues with steelbooks slipping or falling? I want to put plastic steelbook protectors over my steelbooks and I think the resistance and weight may be too much for these magnets.
Cant seem to find these available in the UK or online.. just keep seeing the hook version.

That sucks dude. You could always get in touch with the company to see if they have any UK stockists or if they'll ship to the UK.

Awesome collection!! What Australian Facebook buying and selling groups are you apart of?
I'm trying to figure out if those steelbooks are in any sort of order. Maybe some geeky thing like surname of director or is it just random?
@wilsonianmoviemuseum8420
4 жыл бұрын
Random. There's no point in having them in some kind of order when it'll keep changing with new steels 👍
Thanks for sharing, mate! I had asked this question of you when I first started to watch your channel. At that time, I searched high and low for these specific magnets, but, strangely, could never find them on Amazon, eBay, or even the three by three website. It appears that they are only available through officeworks.com/au
@wilsonianmoviemuseum8420

You're welcome Michael. Thanks for sticking with my channel. Maybe Officeworks have done an exclusivity deal perhaps? Sucks if they're not available elsewhere. There's probably a lot of collectors that would like to use these for their steels.
Stupid Question.... Have you seen any negative long term effects that the magnets have on the actual film disk?
@wilsonianmoviemuseum8420
4 жыл бұрын
None John. I did a bit of research before doing my first magnet wall and unless it's like an industrial grade super magnet, the discs are fine. The data is burned to surface of the discs in a non magnetic way so general magnets have no negative effects on them. Now if I was sticking up floppy discs that would be a different story 🤣

I'm thinking of doing something similar, but with magnetic tape. I'm just wondering about one issue... Disks + magnets = data corruption?
@MrCREWCRUSHIN95

No.
Do you think these magnets would work if you were using a hard plastic steelbook protector, not the bags?
@wilsonianmoviemuseum8420
4 жыл бұрын
Honestly... probably not. Maybe if two magnets were used instead of just one that might be enough.
I'm trying to do this myself the website is down what should I do

Brian Lasker- You could try going on ebay or Etsy to see if there is anything comparable to this brand. I’m sure they’re not the only ones who have steel magnets, that can be used on the steelbooks.
Have you pre-ordered boyz n the hood (everythingblu exclusive) ?

Dude, where you been?
I've gotten into collecting steelbooks of my favorite movies and have about 60 now. I love your display solution, I've scoured the internet and like your's is by far the best and my favorite. However, I can't find the 3"x3" Spot-On magnets you show, and I've looked everywhere in the U.S. All the magnets I find I fear will scratch my steelbooks. I continue my search but meanwhile, my steelbooks sadly remain stored away in boxes, which is a real shame. :(

Did you ever find any magnet that works without scratching the books?
@trueCinemaniac
2 жыл бұрын
@@mikeworkman1759 I abandoned it for the time being, but I did buy a bunch of 18" long magnet bars from Amazon to mount onto the walls or sides of book cases, and professional grade rubber electrical tape to tape over the magnets to avoid scratches. I believe it will work but can't say for sure, until I take on the project. :~)

Just use some type of thin paper table cloth, gift paper or even a post-it note. The magnets you'd use (strongest you can find really) should be strong enough that it won't affect them staying on the wall and it'd prevent any scratches
almost 2 AUD per magnet. that's crazy dude.
Are you collect korea movie??
he should update his room tour
