The UK's Young Reoffenders: Rule Britannia (Full Length)

Ойын-сауық

In this episode of Rule Britannia, VICE meets "Saky's Finest"-a gang of young reoffenders based on the Saxton Road estate in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Locked into a cycle of reoffending and going to jail, some of these guys have spent so much of their childhood in Young Offenders' Institutes that they'd rather be back inside than in the real world.
20-year-old Coopz is looking at a serious stretch in adult jail after being recently bailed in connection with the attempted robbery of a local shop. Ross and Nathan, who at 27 are considered the "olders" of the group, both try to stop him from going down the same paths they did.
We also meet Pitts, arguably the most institutionalized member of the gang, who has only seen the outside world for a matter of weeks in the last six years. Now out, he just wants to have fun, get pissed and fight-as well as settling an old score with Reggie, the local store owner, for something that happened 12 years ago.

It's so cringey when they go around the group saying "he's been in jail, he's been in jail" etc etc and one guy holds his hand up saying "I've been in jail 5 times" with a stupid big grin on his face like its something to be so proud of. Absolute reprobates.

Coopz was back in prison in 2015 for breaking into someones house and threatening them with a knife. In 2021 there was an assault incident involving someone of the same name, however the judge ruled it was out of character for the perpritrator so im assuming its not the same person.

The idea that that kid's horizons don't reach any further than the edge of the boring little provincial town he was born in ("there's nothing for me outside Abingdon") is quite profoundly depressing. Hearing him bang on about his "ends" and how he looks after them like he's some badass inner city gangster while he's out on bail for robbing the local corner shop is pretty funny, but also deeply sad. What a bunch of muppets.

One of your jobs as a mother is to protect your children from harm and she's just delivering harm and trauma straight to them. The inability to protect your children from harm is literally child abuse and I hope those kids were taken from her to be cared for by someone who actually cares for their wellbeing.

The American version of these people usually have to either work really hard in school to get a scholarship or join the military. It's harder then it is for the average joe growing up in a shitty neighborehood or a broke city, but its doable. The problem is they fall in with gangs or they just give up without ever having tried to get out of their poor ass town.

the massive amount of insecurities and lack of positive male role models is to blame for the behavior

This is why people need active role models who can challenge peoples views in a trusted constructive way, or the addictions become your role model, tv becomes your role model, social media becomes your role model. All of these things within reason aren't a bad thing but to excess doesn't improve individual quality of life.

Look at them...saying they don't want to get a job, getting high, getting pissed, saying they rather be in jail than outside and people in the comments defending them by blaming the system...you lot are such hypocrites! Look at them, the lot claiming benefits and shouting that the foreigners are stealing the jobs...what a waste of people!
