I do actually love when people don't use rulers on their backgrounds and instead let the lines be imperfect and organic. It gives it a lot of character.

It comes with practice, it's part of 5min. Warm up. I practice doing straight lines and circles everyday with a pencil before doing it freehand with a brush and acrylic paint

My advice for you is to not wait until you feel "ready", just jump right in! Start drawing backgrounds, landscapes, rooms, trees, whatever you want! You may not be satisfied with it in the beginning, but then you'll become less afraid and more confident as you go on! Just do not wait for "the right time"!

I had so many cool ideas that I didn't draw because I felt that I was not "skilled enough". But think about how cool would it be if years later you take that drawing and you redraw it!! So please please, do not be afraid of trying and even failing! ♡

Honestly you just have to start and ignore that it’s “bad” just go and then when you finish take a break and come back to it to review and then go again!! And eventually you’ll get better without knowing it

Something I do to save time and erasing when trying to get the pose down is to sketch the rough on scrap paper then scan it into Photoshop and free transform until I'm satisfied. Then I print out the transformed sketch and transfer it using either a lightbox or the graphite transfer method. I don't always do this but it helps for complex poses like this one! It came out lovely in the end anyway!

I personally prefer to sketch on the paper rather on my tablet bc even tho I use a protection film on my screen with mate effect. The touch of my hand on the screen is not the same as on the paper. As well as the control over a small drawing on the paper while in digital you can zoom in and out and invert and.... I just prefer digital for finished drawings or illustration. I am as well not as fan of drawing if I have the chance to do a drawing or a simple painting and work my drqwing skills with paint on it I much rather do a painting.
