RE: chosing a medium for your comic, what you could do is organize all of your layouts digitally and then do your inks/finishes traditionally! You could just lightbox those layouts once you have them printed and stuff! That way you get the best of both worlds

For what its worth, I love hearing your thought process about planning your comic since I'm also in the middle of planning a comic. All this insight is very welcomed!

Dont worry, you are definitely not alone on the prompt thing. It's comforting to see others in the comments who felt the same. That's actually one of the reasons why I put off making illustrations this month. A lot of prompts it was kind of hard to pick plus I wasn't sure I'd be capable of executing those prompts. But once I just decided "I'll just do what I want", it was better. Maybe I'm not cut out for following a list right now but it's still ok. Definitely do what works for you especially if you have many ideas and projects. Looking forward to your comic!

I just watch your newest video and this video is from Oct of last year. If you don't kill your fear of doing your book and stop making excuses, it'll never get made. Aw yes this wasn't buried for me. I understand the frustration with prompts. It's to the point I keep them in mind past Oct (since it's prompt month at this point) until I can think of something. There's nothing wrong with cutting back from inktober or switching gears to make it more in line with your comic

It’s totally fine to skip or end Inktober for your personal work. I totally understand that it makes more sense to work on your comic than on prompt with no connection to yourself or your ideas. Exactly. What is there to dislike about a great drawing and a great personality providing advice? There are always people who are spiteful and it says more about them.

Ouch, everything you mentioned about drawing random stuff to put off projects hit me… I do the same thing. 😅

Just remember that not everything you have to do it by ur self u could look for someone or pay someone to help u rewrite it and you can do the drawings of the comic

That is true... but re-writing the comic is the main thing I want to do myself hahah. The story is more important to me than anything else, which is why it's taking so long :')

I just started drawing and I just realized how hard it is to complete one drawing (sketches and painting) in one day. So I was looking at inktober, and I was like...... now I get why some people are stressed to do this every day.... I think it's okay if you are trying to master something like what it's named for but i think just drawing something festive is okay too..just one.... you know just to keep up with the holidays going on these months. One for fall, one for halloween, and one for christmas. I think that's what i'm gonna do.

That's a great idea! Yeah I think i definitely want to do something Halloween-themed. It can be really hard! I realized it's especially difficult with bigger drawings. I'm so used to drawing small.

Some people say inktober is good, and u can explore art with the prompt or make your own prompt. But I realize it doesn't make me feel that.. but still i like drawing and practice :)

I love 💕 this!!!! I do an Inktober alternative, I just color on a Halloween coloring everyday 😆 if you're feeling like that about Inktober, I have a video about it.

Honestly, at this point im just so interested in seeing where you're gonna go with this comic, because it's something that I also want to do sometime in the future and I think seeing you succeed will boost my motivation 100%. Also, I have this strange idea/belief that comic book artists today almost NEVER succeed ? Idk I think it's something I've heard from somewhere and I can't get it out of my mind. Especially since you said that your first comic in collaboration with that writer in Russia (forgot the name) kinda "flopped", I'm kinda really scared ? 😅

Hmm... I don't know, that depends on how you'd define 'success' probably? O: If it means getting a job, it doesn't seem to be THAT difficult hahaha, but again I guess it all depends on the skill-level etc. I know a lot of people who make comics or work in comics, and the earning potential/success varies greatly. Also I think these days going independent is a serious option with lots of potential for success. Anyway, good luck to you!! And me. WE GOT THISss

Earning more money than you loose with this project, I guess :') So that at the end of the day you're not just working towards bankrupcy... A great thing to do with discord could be group figure drawing sessions. You could be in voice chat/ video chat with a small group, share a photo reference, then draw it together like you're in a life drawing class. It's similar to doing the livestream but more interactive 👍
