Dr. Alan Goldhamer is the co-founder of TrueNorth Health Center, a state-of-the-art facility that provides medical and chiropractic services, psychotherapy and counseling, as well as massage and bodywork. He is also director of the Center's groundbreaking residential health education program.
Articulate, inspiring and energetic, Dr. Goldhamer is one of the most pioneering and dedicated visionaries in health today. An outspoken professional who doesn't shy away from a spirited debate, he is deeply committed to helping people stuck in self-destructive cycles reclaim their ability to change their lives.
Dr. Goldhamer has supervised the fasts of thousands of patients. Under his guidance, the Center has become one of the premier training facilities for doctors wishing to gain certification in the supervision of therapeutic fasting.
Dr. Goldhamer was the principal investigator in two landmark studies. The first: "Medically Supervised Water-Only Fasting in the Treatment of Hypertension" appeared in the June 2001 issue of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. Its publication marked a turning point in the evolution of evidence supporting the benefits of water-only fasting. The second study: "Medically Supervised Water-Only Fasting in the Treatment of Borderline Hypertension," appeared in the October 2002 issue of the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Goldhamer is directing a team that is developing a prospective study, incorporating random assignment and long-term follow-up on the cost and clinical outcomes in the treatment of diabetes and high blood pressure with fasting and a health-promoting diet.
After completing his chiropractic education at Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon, Dr. Goldhamer traveled to Australia, where he became licensed as an osteopathic physician. He is the author of The Health Promoting Cookbook and co-author of The Pleasure Trap: Mastering The Hidden Force That Undermines Health and Happiness.

I decided to listen to this while waiting in the intensive care surgery, family waiting room as my father is undergoing double bypass surgery. I am committed to beating the pleasure trap. Thank you for your work! Correction, TRIPLE BYPASS! The surgeon just came out to tell us. I've been Vegan and SOS free for 9 months. I am never turning back!

I had the softcover version of the pleasure trap, but since I have such a sedentary job 8 hours a day (I’m an accountant) I hate sitting during my free time, so I rarely read books anymore. The audible version is awesome. I can listen while walking my dog or gardening.

I'm slowly transitioning my husband and my son. My husband does want to eat healthy and he thinks he is… But now that I have learned what I've learned from you brilliant doctors finally at 44 I've started eating this way, The right way. So what I do is I still fix their food but I fix a lot more of what I eat and give it to them also, and while I'm fixing dinner im playing your shows and they hear it, and my husband is transitioning over without even knowing he's went a couple days without meat just says don't worry about it which I love because I hate touching the meat always have although I loved eating it, now I think it's so disgusting, this really has not been hard. The 1st 3 days was the hardest just felt a little tired and then look out, it's like I woke up with a little AJ energy 😇in me!!!!I love eating this way! I would wake up each morning dreading to look in the mirror to see myself age a little more now I'm so excited to wake up in the morning and see what new youth is appearing! I feel better each day wth amazing results my health and weight! I'm so excited! I cannot say thank you enough I feel so blessed truly!

Wow this is so amazing Tracy I am so happy for you and your family. Keep making those healthy meals. In the Crockpot. I make a Plantbased beefless stew and I add lentils to it. For years my oldest daughter who isn't vegan has been telling her friends how much she loved it. She used to believe it with meat, but didn't realize until years ago that it's been lentils the whole time. 😂

After she got back home she text me asking how to make my green smoothies and other tips! Also a girl from church and another friend! Slowly I believe this world is gonna be a much better place💕🍎 I’ve had some negatively from some but i just feel bad for them, I know what I know! Thanks to these amazing doctors I watch them all the time and McDougle💕 greger they’re like I’ve been sent angel 👼 I keep playing them like mantras different ones just reminds what I’m doing is right and then I can handle any opposition. It’s just crazy how people get so offended when u tell them what yr doing sorry so long thank you I just get so excited I feel so good 😊 bless you and your family

I attempted to watch this yesterday and my husband came and sat on the couch and it started an argument. He said “food can not heal psychological problems and that these Dr are so one sided. All the Dr’s you listen too are all one sided and never explore the fact that some animal products won’t hurt you.” Needless to say I didn’t watch the rest until today so I could listen in peace. My husband will cook his own animal products when he wants them and never get sick of doing it because in his words “ I will never stop eating these things”. He makes two eggs everyday for breakfast. He thinks the way I eat is very unhealthy and not balanced. Our discussions never go well and he is closed minded and says so am I yet I was the one that use to eat his way and changed so I can’t be that closed minded. I don’t think we will ever agree on the way of eating.

The natural hygiene movement of Herbert M Shelton was sort of the vegan version of the paleo diet (not sure if the movement reminded people to take b12 supplement when the movement first began since b12 supplement is not natural, vegans should take b12 supplement to avoid death). The early days of the natural hygiene believed natural was good so it had plenty of pseudoscience and not sure where they got the idea of food combining which not many people preach nowadays. In the early days of the natural hygiene movement water only fasting facilities (usually run by believers in natural hygiene and or chiropractors in the early days), a few patients died due to lack of experience but nowadays, water only fasting facilities are safer.
