Dr. Alan Goldhamer is the co-founder of TrueNorth Health Center, a state-of-the-art facility that provides medical and chiropractic services, psychotherapy and counseling, as well as massage and bodywork. He is also director of the Center's groundbreaking residential health education program.
Articulate, inspiring and energetic, Dr. Goldhamer is one of the most pioneering and dedicated visionaries in health today. An outspoken professional who doesn't shy away from a spirited debate, he is deeply committed to helping people stuck in self-destructive cycles reclaim their ability to change their lives.
Dr. Goldhamer has supervised the fasts of thousands of patients. Under his guidance, the Center has become one of the premier training facilities for doctors wishing to gain certification in the supervision of therapeutic fasting.
Dr. Goldhamer was the principal investigator in two landmark studies. The first: "Medically Supervised Water-Only Fasting in the Treatment of Hypertension" appeared in the June 2001 issue of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. Its publication marked a turning point in the evolution of evidence supporting the benefits of water-only fasting. The second study: "Medically Supervised Water-Only Fasting in the Treatment of Borderline Hypertension," appeared in the October 2002 issue of the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Goldhamer is directing a team that is developing a prospective study, incorporating random assignment and long-term follow-up on the cost and clinical outcomes in the treatment of diabetes and high blood pressure with fasting and a health-promoting diet.
After completing his chiropractic education at Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon, Dr. Goldhamer traveled to Australia, where he became licensed as an osteopathic physician. He is the author of The Health Promoting Cookbook and co-author of The Pleasure Trap: Mastering The Hidden Force That Undermines Health and Happiness.

Last night, the brilliant Dr. Alan Goldhamer, co-founder of the TrueNorth Health Center in Santa Rosa, California, spoke to the participants of the LIVE Ultimate Weight Loss Program via Skype. I had no idea that it was being recorded, but it was so good that I begged him to let me release it on my KZread page and he generously agreed!
Please note that D.r Goldhamer (and very few of the guests that I interview for that matter) don't check my KZread page, so if you have a question for him, please consider reading his book The Pleasure Trap (now available e on Audible) or contact him through his website at www.HealthPromoting.com.
As Dr. Goldhamer always says "Good Health is a Result of Healthy Living" so here's to your good health!

Hi Chef, have you spoken with Dr. Goldhamer about COVID-19 vaccinations? Curious if sociological urgency has altered the opinions in this matter exclusively. I don't doubt the science of preventable action in individual health, but I would like to know what your mentors uphold regarding public safety threats (if indeed the transmissibility is accurate) and if perhaps this unfortunate intersection of population density and viral disease necessitates a sort of "folding" on the strict individual approach. Thank you kindly for all that you do. Huge fan in Eastern Washington State.

Why do we need B12 if the body does not produce it? I do take supplement and fortified foods. Caffeine(migraines) was the problem for me during peri- and menopause. I had developed a sensitivity that I still have at 67.

Hopefully you'll find more details but my guess is our natural source of B12 from the food environment/eco-system's micro-biome continues to decline since the advent of industrial chemical agriculture. As a result we need to acquire it elsewhere.

We have B12 in our bodies. Unfortunately, it's in our bowels and not accessible to us. Supposedly a study was done where they fed vegans their own poop, but sterilized, and it cured their B12 deficiency. I wouldn't recommend that. LOL! The only supplements we might need is B12 and marine phytoplankton for DHA omega 3's.

Thank you for the video. I desperately want to lose weight but I have a couple problems. First, I have interstitial cystitis which requires a special diet. Two things that are toward the top of the list of foods I can't eat are citrus and tomatoes. I bought the cookbook of TrueNorth but it often replaces salt as a seasoner with citrus and tomatoes. The second problem is if I go hungry at all, I get sick, nauseous, shaky, and irritable. I am not a good cook, I am 53 years old, and going through menopause. I am down to 5'4 now, and 203 lbs (I just hit my highest weight). Help!

Our brains are bigger then the gorilla because of our DHA intake from our fish consumption. We evolved from the ocean, we have the same exact teeth as the sheep head fish which means we ate raw fish and sea veggies. Dr. Furhman and Dr. Greger both say we better be taking a DHA supplement and that's basically saying we are meant to eat fish but lets see if we could get by with out them. If we don't take it or eat fish our brain will shrink.

John McDougall, MD: 'The Rice Diet is one that I reserve for the "nearly dead."' bit.ly/2QyQlPO The Rice Diet works for severely ill people whose bodies cannot tolerate normal amounts of fat and protein due to their failing hearts and kidneys. On the Rice Diet, white sugar adds calories (i.e., energy) without protein and fat as the diet is so restrictive. John McDougall, MD: "I find myself recommending the Rice Diet several times a year to the few patients I see who are on the verge of complete heart or kidney failure. Otherwise, I recommend the McDougall Diet (a starch-based diet with fruits and non-starchy-vegetables along with some salt and sugar for flavorings) to almost all of my patients." bit.ly/2QyQlPO • The McDougall Program Success Stories bit.ly/2hcdfR3 • McDougall Quick-Start Program bit.ly/2MCRZhL • The McDougall Program Free Resources bit.ly/2hbFteD • The McDougall Program for Maximum Weight Loss bit.ly/2kdY2PX • Just to Be on the Safe Side: Don’t Take Vitamins [B12 excepted] bit.ly/2nmpWrr • What is the Best Formulation of Vitamin B12? bit.ly/2LKHUlL • Nutritionist’s List: Stock up on These Low-Cost Staples bit.ly/2BRFwEX • Jeff Novick, MS, RDN: My Simple Recipes bit.ly/2EhZKcK • Calorie Density: How to Eat More, Weigh Less, and Live Longer kzread.info/dash/bejne/YneY2bmlmdmdeMo.html • The Calorie Density Approach to Nutrition and Lifelong Weight Management bit.ly/2Erd23y • An Interview with Healthy Eating Expert Jeff Novick, RD bit.ly/1m21FUN • Nutrition & Health FAQ bit.ly/2Q4r1kk • Keto, low-carb, and paleo diets debunked: plantpositive.com • Who Benefits from Fasting? bit.ly/2E9iw1o

Seems like the solution is to make time for UVB exposure around noon, even on cloudy days, and not necessarily daily: • "Ample opportunities exist to form vitamin D (and store it in the liver and fat) from exposure to sunlight during the spring, summer, and fall months even in the far north latitudes [1]." bit.ly/1M5deq6 • "...you can make vitamin D even on cloudy days. Clouds, shade, and severe pollution/smog clouds reduce vitamin D synthesis by about 50-60%[1] yet you’ll still be making vitamin D." bit.ly/2N5XTLT • "High-tech environmental studies [bit.ly/2MlrmN6] on the penetration of sunlight all over the globe confirm the abundance of ultraviolet radiation available to produce vitamin D in people, even for those living in higher latitudes. Stop for a minute and consider that there is sufficient energy from the sun to grow huge rainforests, such as the Great Bear Rainforest, which extends from Vancouver, Canada to the border of Alaska." bit.ly/2LpCn4r • "Just 6 days of casual sunlight exposure without sunscreen can make up for 49 days of no sunlight exposure. Body fat acts like a kind of storage battery for vitamin D. During periods of sunlight, vitamin D is stored in body fat and then released when sunlight is gone." wb.md/2nN64y2 • Should I Be Taking Vitamin D? kzread.info/dash/bejne/lJqgp5iuktmdpNo.html • Vitamin D: a pseudo-vitamin for a pseudo-disease bit.ly/2LHCCTE • Vitamin D study shows popping supplements won't improve bone mineral density bit.ly/2RxsP76 • The Man Who Sold America On Vitamin D - And Profited In The Process bit.ly/2Msyhcy • Secret to health benefits of sunshine is more than vitamin D bit.ly/2p1oqfG • Avoiding Sun as Dangerous as Smoking wb.md/2wj5vQK • Vitamin D: Values for Normal Are Exaggerated bit.ly/2lcRe1z • Vitamin D Supplements Are Harmful-Sunshine and Food Determine Health bit.ly/2LpCn4r • Just to Be on the Safe Side: Don’t Take Vitamins [B12 excepted] bit.ly/2nmpWrr • What is the Best Formulation of Vitamin B12? bit.ly/2LKHUlL • The McDougall Program Success Stories bit.ly/2hcdfR3 • McDougall Quick-Start Program bit.ly/2MCRZhL • The McDougall Program Free Resources bit.ly/2hbFteD • The McDougall Program for Maximum Weight Loss bit.ly/2kdY2PX • Nutritionist’s List: Stock up on These Low-Cost Staples bit.ly/2BRFwEX • Jeff Novick, MS, RDN: My Simple Recipes bit.ly/2EhZKcK • Calorie Density: How to Eat More, Weigh Less, and Live Longer kzread.info/dash/bejne/YneY2bmlmdmdeMo.html • The Calorie Density Approach to Nutrition and Lifelong Weight Management bit.ly/2Erd23y • An Interview with Healthy Eating Expert Jeff Novick, RD bit.ly/1m21FUN • Nutrition & Health FAQ bit.ly/2Q4r1kk • Keto, low-carb, and paleo diets debunked: plantpositive.com • Who Benefits from Fasting? bit.ly/2E9iw1o
