@fs… Business is not fair or not fair. It’s, can you make money or not or at least break even. Before they sell these three vehicles (probably within a month of purchase), they have to fix a few things that pops up as mechanical or safety issue. That will cost money. If they start building the trucks up that make them more offroad worthy they start specializing them which makes the pool of potential buyers willing to pay for them smaller and smaller because TFL have to recoup all the original purchase price plus cost of fixes plus cost of offroad build up. The future price of the vehicles where TFL will break even (not lose money) is going up and up which will shrink the pool of buyers willing to pay for such off-road improvements. Just doesn’t make financial sense for TFL. An average buyer will look a $15,000 225,000-mile 4-Runner (Tommy’s) vs a $6,500 auction 4-Runner or $10,000 dealer 4-Runner and will buy the cheaper one. Almost all buyers will do that. Eventually, a sophisticated buyer will come along and says, sure this $15,000 well sorted offroad built 4-Runner is great and he buys it. But this will take time and TFL doesn’t have time. They need their money back right now because next month they want to do a Cheap BMW series or whatever and they need to buy three 200,000+ mile BMW. 😃

Moral of the story when playing a game on tfl always wait to be the last to find your vehicle for the game so you can just break all the rules lol. I get the purchase but come on play the rules set or give the guys a bonus for upgrades and stop worrying about breaking even on selling them in a few months we want to see old Toyotas the way they supposed to be used. Of course the Land Cruiser is better than the Sequoia, that’s not even a debate, but at what cost? There are a lot more cheap Sequoias available than cheap Land Cruisers. Also, there’s plenty of Land Cruiser content compared to the first gen Sequoia. Now the “Cheap Toyotas” title has to be revised. I would like to see a series of purchases from the private used truck market. I think that would be a more relatable video series for most viewers. Thanks guys, great videos.

With 4rd gen 4runners they also designed the lbj upside down so if they separate your whole assembly breaks off. Was a big issue with them and screwed alot of people. Usually they broke off during slow speeds but on the interstate your sol. They're still good rigs as long as you do your preventative maintenance although the 80 was way over engineered and it shows on the highway and offroad. He paid way to much for his 80, you can get them the same as price as a 3rd gen. And when they came locked from the factory they came triple locked, front locker, rear and center diff.

I have only owned used vehicles and this series is a good example of what to look for when buying used. Everyone will tell you the vehicle they are selling is in perfect condition and it was checked by a mechanic. However, when you buy it and take it to your mechanic suddenly there is a huge repair bill and hidden problems. I looked for a 2016 Canyon for years but they were either too expensive or had high mileage. I finally fond one but I had to drive 3,000 kilometers in 2 1/2 days get it. Then I drove it 3,000 km in February through a snowstorm back home.

@pro4xtrdpro376 As owning 2 built 3rd gen 4runners with e-lockers, an built 80 and a 100 series I can tell you it isn not even close, The 4runners come in last lol. Their Ifs is terrible, especially on 3rd's due to them designing them upside down so when the lbj's break your whole control arm assembly comes apart. Usually with slow speeds but if on the interstate your done. My 100 series is Ifs but better due to torsion bars but still rougher then the 80. My 80 is the smoothest ride out of all of them by FAR. It also is solid front axle, free float rear axle and coils all around making it the best for articulation. Only thing the 80 needs is more power but the runner 3.4 have way less power and them being light the rear lockers would make more difference if it was heavy. The 80 is heavy so when you know how to drive it the Center diff lock will pull you out of most things, but from factory some came triple locked, front, rear and center. Plus both my lc are full time 4wd. And way more interior room. I've never had to use the lockers on the 80 but the same trails I've had to use them multiple times in the runners. If this guy knew how to drive and use the gears he would preform way better lol. He did pay wayyyyy to much for that 80 though. I picked up mine mint condition for 1k acouple years ago.

@pro4xtrdpro376 I did the center diff lock 7 pin mod also which helped, Also did the transfer case over and underdrive gears to 4:56 and 3:1:1 which made a huge difference, Agree the 80 could def use more power, if the 1fze dies def gonna do a 2uz swap. The ride is hella smooth though even 35's and the 3" lift. Lockers aren't to bad aftermarket thats what I did, Harrop e-lockers both front and rear for around 2k.

@pro4xtrdpro376 It does produce great torque but not great hp for the weight of it. Most 4x4 older yotas produce great torque with the tractor engines lol Driving passes here in CO however is not fun. Regearing helped a ton but most of the power is taken mainly from the bus transmission and being full time 4x4. Off road does fine but 75mph up a pass on I70 did not lol. Before the regear anyway cause it was stoked geared at 4:10. Runners that are equipped with the elocker are 4:30 from factory, same with my 100 series.

Great video guys. Fun to watch. That 4runner is so good for the money. That cyl 6 is probably the headgasket. No bid deal. Just buy a gasket set and do it on your spare time during weekends.

Andre makes the worse purchases. With Tommy’s extra money he should lift his 4Runner and put new tires. Nathan should be disqualified. 😂

I'm surprised Nathan wasn't trying to justify his as a standard to compare all the rest to. "Can a vehicle with over 200k for under $10k match a low mile Land Cruiser." Or at least as the price is accounting for the difference in the value of money since the 1st $10k challenge.

Wish Nathan would have bought a first gen Sequoia and taken off road and tested the center diff lock. Its a very superior 4wd system found in the first gen Sequoias. As pointed Sequoias are so underrated and was excited when you had bought one. As my parents have one and havent seen many test the 4wd system tested out in a real offroad trail. Hopefully you guys have a chance to test a first gen Sequoia offroad like these other Toyotas one day.

Perhaps someday TFL will get their hands on the new Toyota Land Hopper. Or at the very least, review it. The 2024 4R is keeping its current engine and transmission. So, no extreme changes there.

Really? I’m genuinely surprised. He has been extremely cringy and annoying from the beginning. I see the success of the channel is also getting into Roman’s head a little. His mannerism has changed - from the way he talks to the rest of the guys to the way he walks.
