The perfect Switch joycon doesn't exi... [BinBok Retro GameCube]
Ойын-сауық
Nintendo Switch joycons are great but they don't come close to delivering the feel and functionality of the GameCube controller. The BinBok Retro Controller does away with the hassle of adapters and delivers a true GameCube Joycon experience with 6-axis gyro, wireless connection, rumble support, turbo function and 2 pro controller style back buttons. My perfect Switch joycon might just have arrived...
*Thanks to BinBok for providing the product for video purposes. All opinions my own as always.*

Surprised that Nintendo hasn't made a JoyCon 'Pro' controller with Hall Sensor.

So, let me get this straight: You're surprised that Nintendo HASN'T made a Joycon Pro controller with Hall Effect sensors, when Nintendo has yet to make ANY Switch controller (Joycon or otherwise) with Hall Effect sensors?! Make it make sense😅

That would mean less recurring sales of joycons caused by drift! They know what they’re doing.
Really cranking out the videos!
They've just released a HALL sensor revision with a matching colour centre rail too, unsure if the button height was improved.
Im super surprised someone else did a gamecube style joycon! I got the Nyxi wizard which is basically the same as this. I honesty use mine on steam (beat Nioh 2 with it) and just completely its a fun experience but hard to change back to xbox buttons now lol

Noooot the same. Nyxi's is prone to a lot of issues. I've had zero issues with Doyoky's. Plus the buttons are different. The handles. Nyxi did better with some stuff, though.

No hall effect
this is just the evolution of the gamecube keyboard controller
Wow! That’s a trippy looking switch
It’s surprising Nintendo never made these.
Sounds almost perfect! I'm a dinosaur who likes the GameCube controller but thinks its effectiveness for Smash (post Melee) is more than a little overrated even if it fortunately made the little controller have the mileage it deserves, PC based platform fighters natively have button prompts and support for GC controllers. I'd still prefer if it had the option to have the GameCube's Hybrid triggers since a few Switch games do support it and the eventual GameCube re-releases (which were built with it in mind) will be less playable, but for the bulk of the library, it seems to be what I need. The analog factor before the digital trigger can get in the way on some GameCube games but Melee actually uses the analog press for specific mechanics AND people are able to modify their GC controller to become more comfortable (as you mentioned with notches).

Dinosaurs for life! Yes! Hall effect trigger do that. So far I've used two controllers with it (@Sunwaytek940 's H510 and Z2), and man... it's exactly what you want as far as imitating the GameCube triggers. The feel isn't identical, but it's close, and it 100% can imitate the function as long as games are programmed for it. Perfect shielding in Smash was a breeze with 'em.
I'd have to use that just because it makes the switch look so derpy.
Using the large C stick cap!? Madness!
A real shame they have L/R and LZ/RZ in the positions of a normal controller and not in the positions of a GameCube controller... I don't know why every GameCube controller replica makes that mistake. It messes with out of the box muscle memory.
@CarrotsNotCake

Remapping in system settings fixes that.
@inurare
Жыл бұрын
@@CarrotsNotCake Possibly true, but i also said "out of the box muscle memory"... though I am not actually sure if it supports remapping for this product specifically, because the Switch doesn't (or didn't if it has since been updated) support remapping for most 3rd party controllers. Regardless if it working or not... it is still not the out of the box experience and my brain will mix up how the controller came as default and how i remapped it, giving me the worst of both (it's a me problem for sure, but it DOES happen). A really great point mentioning remapping however; for anyone who wants the shoulders reversed and wouldn't have any issues with it unlike myself. I just don't get why nearly every controller emulating this style moving the face buttons, wouldn't move the shoulder buttons as well.
Have you seen the new Playstation Access controller? I'm wondering if it'll be good for fighting games.
OMG, this is the controller i was always advocating that it would be the best controller if modernised. If this controller is as robust and unkillable as the original gamecube controller this is a win right there in book and i want one!
How does it compare with the Nyxi Wizard? Are the triggers analogue. I would like to use it with my blueretro game cube replacement board.

ah yes the "I can finally play Smash Bros. in handheld mode" controller
I may be wrong but GC controller triggers are analogue so the travel is irrelevant. I only vaguely remember this (if I am right) is because that is the only reason I never got any of the 2rd party GC controllers for the switch.
@shruggernaut

Yup, just set everything up, and you don't have to actuate much at all for the triggers to activate. Shield pops up with barely a push of R.
@BradyR95
9 ай бұрын
Correct, but the Switch does not support analogue triggers, so the extra distance is unnecessary. Obviously not a big deal, but for a game like Smash Bros with quick twitch button pressing, it’s easier to press many times quickly
Would be a great way to play Metroid Prime: Remastered with the classic control scheme again.

I recently bought this controller from Doyoky and immediately noticed the D-Pad is not registering diagonal inputs in Street Fighter, thus can’t do fireball or any moves that require diagonal inputs using the D-Pad in the game.. but i see that it’s working for you. Is there something wrong with my controller? What can i do about this situation?
One concern I have with this controller is that it doesn't have any extensions on the back for bracing the Switch tablet. Hori has been really good about that with the Split Pad Pro and Split Pad Compact. Without something on the back for bracing (like a Hori-style nub), you risk flexing that can in turn result in damage to the rails that the controllers slide onto.

We shall see. If it breaks my switch rails it’ll be a good excuse to finally buy an OLED switch
@MikuCobraCole

Can you tell me where are those "protective extensions" on the regular joy-cons? Didn't break mine yet cause of that lol...
@InJeffable
Жыл бұрын
@@MikuCobraCole Not needed. Look at it this way: Say that your Switch is resting on a table and you reach for one side of it with one hand to pick it up. If it has regular Joy-Cons attached, those things are so small that you're not going to be picking up the system by just the Joy-Con unless you're really trying to do so. Your grip is going to go past the Joy-Con to the Switch tablet. But if you instead have something as large as this GameCube-style controller on there, you're going to be picking it up just by the controller, possibly putting harmful strain on the connecting rail in the process. That's where the usefulness of a small extension for bracing comes in.

idk about this, but this might be an inspiration from Shank Mods. he created a Gamecube Joycons from scratch, and has great result
@CarrotsNotCake

It's 100% inspired by Shank.
This had the worst dpad that I’ve used in a long time. Returned it because of that. It’s incredibly difficult to properly do any diagonal movement with it, it only really likes cardinal inputs.
Wait, Binbok made a GameCube controller?!? I had no idea, I thought NYXI was the only one! O O; I honestly had to sit through and watch this, the parallels between the NYXI and Binbok are very interesting- the d-pad doesn't feel that precise on the NYXI, but the control sticks and buttons feel extremely responsive, so I've honestly been loving it a lot. They even have a carrying case sized for it! It'd be really interesting to see you compare the NYXI and Binbok GameCube controllers someday, your input on this feels very accurate, somehow as if we're sitting in the same room, and you're showing us all this stuff first hand. 8D

@@Lanurus I'd say they're a little clicky, but also mushy, a lot like an off-brand GCN controller. A good one, anyway- my only gripe with it is the d-pad, and the shortcut buttons. The d-pad is slick plastic, and holding left/right sometimes ends up being registered as a diagonal input. And the shortcut buttons are inset in the controller itself, so it takes a little work to actually press them. I honestly adore the controller, but, these little gripes do make me sad. XD

You're so rough with your Switch it makes me want to hide, but anyway. Wow, these Gamecube style joy cons look great! I know NXYI made one as well, but this Binbok one looks more accurate to the actual Gamecube controller and it fixes all the stuff I didn't like about the original GCN controller like the tiny D-pad and insanely long travel of the L and R buttons. Would be cool to hear an update after using this for a while because I would like to purchase it, but since I don't usually trust 3rd party products for Nintendo consoles, I want to hold off until I know they're actually reliable and worth it.
