I honestly don’t know why anyone would skip ahead just to see the controllers in action. The real entertainment comes from your trial and error, the tough things you went through and the meticulous detail you added to get these controllers just right, and the amazing feeling you get when you see them completed. Like all their gameboys since the Gameboy Pocket have been the same dimensions. GB Pocket = GB Color = GB Advance = GB Advance SP (opened) = Nintendo DS (Closed) = Nintendo DS Lite (Closed) = Nintendo 3DS (Closed) and arguably the 3DS XL/New 3DS when closed, although they're slightly bigger.

@@PaulDaHeadBanger yeah no even those aren't safe from control stick issues. Nintendo really cheaped out with the controllers. It's sad that a system meant to be portable has controllers way less sturdy than their OLDER CONSOLES

I stongly believe that jumping into the deep end of hobbyist projects is the best learning experience you can get. You'll make mistakes along the way, but ultimately learn way more than doing numerous simple projects. Motivation is the key driving factor here.

I love this, there's alot of attempts out there to make something like this. Honestly I think this is by far the coolest.

It's so fascinating seeing all these custom mod projects, which goes to show the importance of research & development departments. Awesome job! Joining the modding community seems like fun but as you mentioned at the end it costs quite a bit of time and money. So the most I can probably do is just watch. Though I guess I can start really small and check out those custom Joycon button replacements.

Imagine someone pulls up to your local tournament with this.

Something I recently learned (that many might have stumbled on) is that applying some isopropyl alcohol with a cotton swab underneath the rubber sheath of the joycon and then rolling it around will fix that right up. I'm no engineer, but I'd watched a video explaining that it's something to do with residue that builds up as opposed to an actual hardware malfunction. Worked just fine for mine.

Some people are so incredibly talented and driven. I don’t know if talent comes with drive, or if drive comes with talent, but you have both. You also have my respect. This inspired me to try more. I know nothing about modding or electronics or painting or any of this, but I watched the whole thing. Incredible.

this is AWESOME! I would love to have something like this someday. I love that you also modded the joy-con software to look purple in the switch UI, I was explicitly looking for that detail :)

@@codybishop7526 They're not lazy, they're conservative. We're talking about a gaming company that's been around since 1889. That's 120+ years of business. When Sony and Microsoft were still a pipe dream and their CEO's were graduating highschool, they've already cornered the market on card games and Pogs. There's a reason why Nintendo still exists.

@@scottwpilgrim lol they almost went bankrupt and they only got lucky momentum from their portables and switch. they make mistakes too and can be lazy and misinformed. it would be smart for them to build a gamecube controller for switch cause literally everyone would want it, and their os has always been shit they only started tightening it up after the switch came out as well as their Nintendo online. its not that deep, nobody's saying nintendo's bad we're saying it's run by humans and prone to human error and judgement like anything else.
