I saw my AWESOME doctor today for the first time in about a year bc she changed practices. She could have damned me to hell by putting me on meds with a 6.8 A1C but she let me do keto and fasting! Down to 5.3 so far and lost 138 lbs so far. Today she said to break the blood pressure pill in half! 🎉 I am just ecstatic!! When you find a local gem of a doctor like I have - follow them anywhere!!!!

I love Keto and intermittent fasting, it has changed my life for the better. I also am thinking of doing carnivore. The problem is that you have to cut out the "bad" foods. People aren't willing to do that. People know that cookies, candy, etc are bad for you but continue to do it. The major problem is the addiction. Until the FDA get the crap out of food, Unfortunately it will never end. That's so sad.

Yep because corporations control everything in the USA….unlike Europe where E.U. actually laws prohibit a lot of things that are bad for the citizens, but promote what is good for the citizens. For instance, GMO wheat is not allowed. In Switzerland there are laws that require cows graze on grass a certain number of hours daily so that the famous REAL Swiss cheese made there is top quality, unlike the so-called fake Swiss made in America (which of course it is not). Remember when Mitt Romney famously announced corporations are people too? It’s why glyphosate is sprayed on everything and undoubtedly making millions of us sick. Glyphosate is made by Bayer pharmaceutical if I’m not mistaken. Take bullet trains thru any part of Europe and you will see milk cows grazing on green grass and of course that’s why butter is so much tastier there. And breads and croissants and pasta etc. are made from cleaner wheat, that is not sprayed with toxic poisons. But suggest that we make laws like this here and the farmers and corporations go insane, and have such powerful lobbies (that donate to their political candidates) that there is no concern for what their toxic chemicals will do to the animals, crops, and the ultimate users…the people of this country.

As a patient, I'm starting to focus on an "all cause mortality" risk management strategy. I get maybe an hour or two face to face with a doctor/year. So I read, and I learn to discipline myself to a lifestyle of low inflammation and stress management. Its an ongoing refinement, a matter of weaning myself off bad habits and refining good ones. Nowhere near where I want to be, but so glad of what I've learned, and where I am now. Keep up the good work ladies.

On September 26, 2017 I was on my way to my medical practice office. I pulled over my car, called everyone and shut down my practice on that day because I could NOT fight the system one more day. Evidence based medicine is non-existant and it was being forced down my throat and I knew it was not properly treating people as an individual. I was told to follow the edicts or else. I prided myself in actually curing medical issues without my prescription pad. I was told I didn't write enough prescriptions, that food has nothing to do with health issues. Yet Hippocrites said, You are what you eat and that's been abandoned. And we took an oath to, FIRST DO NO HARM. Lip service, that has to STOP.

I think people think their primary care doctor is supposed to be coordinating their care like Dr. Means was describing, but they just can't. I think there should be a job like "healthcare coordinator" who is assigned to like 2 dozen people max for whom they can track labs, specialists, conditions, etc. Maybe working alongside the PCP. Just a thought. I try to do that job on a small scale for my immediate family members, but not everyone has the ability/time to do it. Great ideas, and fabulous interview!!

The pcp does coordinate care if you use them properly. The problem is so many pcp are happy to not think and send u to the specialists. A good family doctor is rare these days. Insurance and med malpractice threats are another reason why the pcp is often afraid to do anything and will ship you off to specialists

I enjoyed this conversation immensely. I learned in school in 1968 that the Standard American Diet would be bad for us in the future. I saw how people were getting heavier and sicker, beginning in the 1980's. I was careful about what I ate but still fell victim. I changed my diet (to keto but all natural/organic foods from local farms - very little store-bought foods) in January 2022. I had just become pre-diabetic, had high bp, high cholesterol, anxiety/PTSD. Changed from a doctor (physician assistant) who was only trained to prescribe drugs to a properly trained/educated doctor. BP is now normal, anxiety/PTSD much better, Glucose under control and dropping. Now working on mitochondria/nutrient improvements.

Great video. I also like Your visions for the future health system. It shows however only the patient's and the well meaning doctor's point of view. Put Yourself in the position of all those "poor" people who live off the sick, all those millions of people who just do not care (except for their bank accounts) live and get rich effortlessly by keeping us sick. They will all need new jobs and professions, where they can just as effortlessly and possibly with just the same lack of empathy for human life and wellbeeing can make their money... I fear as long, as they fight to hang on to their jobs, at least for now, proper education about a healthy life stile alone is not yet enough. But I am glad that You and other keto and carnivore doctors are fighting, standing up for us and already helping us to a healthier life. You have certainly helped me a great deal.
