Avoiding Kidney Failure and Knowing How It Starts! - Dr. Boz

Kidney failure is different than kidney infection. The infection causes pain. Kidney failure has no symptoms. You don't feel a thing. Rarely do kidneys fail because of infection. They fail one cell at a time from chronic diseases of inflammation.
Instead, kidneys slowly fail from high blood pressure, high blood sugars, and chronic toxins filtering through your kidneys. Two decades of borderline blood pressure killed my dad's kidneys. Don't let that happen.
Failing kidneys only show up in your labs.
Check your URINE MICRO=ALBUMIN to CREATININE RATIO. The protein MICRO-ALBUMIN should never be present in your urine. Do not accept "a minor" problem It predicts danger ahead.
Take Vitamin K2+D3: amzn.to/31lIlqL
Understanding kidney health can help prevent infection and failure.

Excellent, Dr. Boz. I had uncontrolled Diabetes for years, which is a leading cause of kidney failure. The standard diabetic treatment did not work. The metformin made my kidneys worse. I have been Keto for over two years and my diabetes is reversed, blood pressure is normal and I have lost over 50 lbs. My kidney numbers have stabilized. In other words, it has not gotten worse.

When I was diagnosed with kidney failure. , I only had 35% left. This was three years ago. I went on the keto. Started eating right? I actually came up 10% on my kidney function. Interesting thing. I used to get at least two colds a year and every once in a while the flu. When my doctor did my blood tests found that my D was real Low I started taking. Same dosage you recommend K2 D3 and I have not had a cold or flu in 3 years..

Very interesting video about kidney disease. My wife had an autoimmune disorder years ago (2007) called microscopic polyangiitis which severely damaged her kidneys, her GFR was under 30, but it came back up to over 50. The family doctor recently put her on statins for her cholesterol and it seemed to make her sick and may have caused her to have kidney problems again. The kidney doctor told her to stop the statins because her potassium is now too high. The family doctor suggested she take baking soda tablets to help improve kidney function? She is 68 and I am worried about her long term kidney health. We are a lot more careful with her diet now. I discovered that avocados are one of the worst foods you can eat for kidney problems due to the potassium. It is interesting how the kidney doctor and family physician have different ideas on treatments.

I really do not understand all the negativity towards keto. It's healthier than SAD and yet some warn of imminent death. Huh?! It's protein, veggies and fat, people. It's what we SHOULD eat. Eating chips and a soda is healthier? Because I know people who eat that for a meal.

@@Edu_Kate The negativity is that KETO wipes away $$$ billions of profits for the Pharms, the 'Diet' industry, etc. Always about $$$, not your health. Poor health of the masses benefits government. Or in other words, Julian Michaels has soda fizz pop to sell. From the top to the bottom, if 90% of the meds you would see at even an over the counter drug store were deemed useless due to KETO there is no way an industry of profiteers are going to let low carb, high fat, mod protein be the new guidelines. Please never stop teaching people the truth about, not only the kidneys, but the whole body. You are great! Not only do I have your book and suppps and follow the keto diet, my husband has started this keto diet too. He has osteomyelitis of the tibia (old war wound). Fungus is a real problem with him. I agree with so much of this! I do have 2 questions & I hope you can answer them. How do failing kidneys handle the moderate protein of a keto diet? Is there an upper limit that's allowed? Also I've recently heard that K2 can, by removing calcium in the arteries, destabilize coronary plaque turning it from "hard plaque" to "soft plaque" which is supposedly more of a danger. I've scoured the internet & can't get an answer for this plaque question. Bless you and your family.

I have been watching your videos and today I see this kidney video and the way you explain things about your dad I'm like a twin to him. Things have started to go wrong in the last 5 years. 3 blowouts in my intestines, cellulitis in my leg and some other issues, I would sure like to talk to you I'm only 80 miles away from you and my son lives and works in Sioux Falls for the Anderson group off of Louise and territory Avenue. I have your book and started to read it and have been trying the keto diet gradually.

Doctor, before I started keto (22 months keto, now) I had been forming kidney stones- uric acid stones. I have turned so much around with my body since keto, but only one issue remains and that is uric acid. For the past 15 months, I have been experiencing kidney colic in my left kidney to the tune of passing multiple 2mm-4mm uric acid stones in my urine at least weekly. I am currently passing 1mm-2mm grains every single day, and sometimes multiple times each day. I am almost accustomed to the constant pain- which is not normal, but it's my reality. I went to a urologist who, without looking at any current labs, said my uric acid levels were high three years ago (duh) and that I need to keep my pH below 7 as he walked out of the room. What? How do i do that when the body's own homeostasis maintains around 7.3? How would I even go about that? He didn't even say how I should check or what I should check. Saliva? Urine? I cancelled my follow up with him because I have no confidence in what he is saying based on that. He prescribed potassium citrate- which is great. I already take potassium citrate 3-4 times a day along with lemon water. Nothing is helping me. I really am scared my kidney is going to die and take me with it. My kidney history is a 7.5mm stone in my right kidney that I passed in 2017. An 8.5mm stone that this same urologist performed laser lithotripsy on in 2018. ALL my kidney colic has been in the left kidney beginning in June of 2020 up until this very moment. I am desperate.

Why would you do keto, work out daily, stay hydrated, sleep well, reduce stress and eat sparingly when you can binge watch TV while stuffing processed food in your invaluable body? Answer: To live like me at 69 135 lbs super-fit happy high on life biker. But who would want that? Keto, ie high protein (a large molecule when excessive damages kidneys) puts a strain on systems unused to that level of chemical processing. As a 1970s bodybuilder, we experienced major kidney problems from excess protein powder milkshakes. 'Watch the high protein intake for potential kidney damage', has always been my advice as a personal trainer for 50 years.

It certainly would be interesting to hear if anyone has used the diet as part of a treatment modality. I can't really imagine why keto would not at least help some. One problem in that regard is that the cause in some cases could be a DNA flaw or decoding error. In that case, the ketogenic diet may improve how the person feels and maybe even functions but would not do anything to correct the root cause.

I doubt I'll get an answer. If I do it'll probably be "ask your doctor'.....whom I have asked both my GP and Nephrologist and they don't give an answer. My questions are : if I have stage 3B kidney decline how much, if any protein can I eat? And is intermittent fasting hard on my kidneys? I have resistant high blood pressure, took meds for decades and they didn't help but my doctors just want me back on them , despite that as the only answer they've given me. The meds, all kinds, ACE, ARB, Calcium Blockers on and on..., gave me side effects that ruined my life so I finally got off them. Had strokes while on the meds. Been off of them a year and half. Feel so much better despite my high BP, but now I need to deal with kidneys. BTW, I never had high BP until 1997...went into menopause, and in 1998 my BP was high and has been ever since. I've NEVER had a sweet tooth, couldn't afford to eat out or junk food, always watched my diet and when I needed to lose weight, easily went on Atkins in the past. Just lost 56 lbs easily and am 11 lbs from 'healthy weight' on keto....as I never liked breakfast and liked eating dinner early. I'm a 5'5" woman - always slim until 1998, also.
