The Most Popular Stool of All Time | Behind The HYPE: Stool 60

Stool 60 is one of the most important designs in history. Collaborations with Supreme and fine artists like Barbara Kruger have boosted the selling price of the stool to over $1,000. Without this design, Scandinavian Modernism wouldn’t exist in its current form. HYPEBEAST explores the groundbreaking cultural importance of the Stool 60.

    @@ape2533 On se tehny vaikka mitä. Eero Saarinen on suunnitellut lukuisia pääkonttoreita ja kuuluisia maamerkkejä yhdysvalloissa. St. Louis arch on esimerkiksi Eero Saarisen suunnittelema. puhumattakaan sitten hänen asemastaan huonekalusuunnittelussa.

    So this guy invented the stool? No. Oh, well they must be more comfortable? No. So he used some crazy material? Wood. So it's a thing that already existed, that was slightly changed, and is grossly over priced? Yes. Ah, now I get why it's a "Hypebeast" thing.

  • @misouna

    @misouna

    If you watched the video and that is your opinion, I don't think you understood it. The product is called "Stool 60", and he invented the L-shape which is used in this chair and many others. When the chair was first coming out, it was not over priced, it was affordable. Nowadays you can consider it being "over priced", but since they are making them in Finland where labor is really expensive it's understandable. They hold their value and they don't break. It's the same thing with every other design-furniture: you're paying for the design and the craftsmanship. If you're paying 200 euros for a stool that is going to last you your whole life, it's not a bad deal
