The Stool 60 Loimu is the second of Artek's special editions celebrating the design's 90th anniversary in 2023. While the Kontrasti anniversary stool highlighted the stool's L-leg structure, the Loimu stool celebrates its material, Finnish birch wood.
The special edition stool is made from a rare birch variant characterised by a flame-like grain pattern. What's more, the pattern is only fully revealed once the wood is treated - the raw, untreated "flame birch" only shows a whisper of the grain pattern. To make the reveal as dramatic as possible, the stools are dispatched in their untreated state with an accompanying oiling set: you can complete the oiling process and witness this phenomenon yourself.
Flame birch is exceptionally rare, and therefore this special anniversary stool 60 is only available as a limited edition.
