Yes, you CAN paint LAMINATE FURNITURE! Mid Century Style Dresser Makeover
You absolutely CAN paint laminate furniture! There are a TON of these tired old 60s and 70s laminate dressers out there, but they often get overlooked as potential makeover pieces. If it's got a solid wood frame, is sturdy, and the drawers are ok, the rest can be made beautiful with some good prep work and a plan. :-)

Seriously Angie, I’ve been doing this for 40 years.....! You have those enviable old school skills, but you work in such a beautifully intuitive way. No surprise to me that you have an arts background! You’ve only just begun this KZread adventure, but you are well on your way to being an inspirational mentor to thousands.... For me, you have become the person to watch, and I’m so happy for your success! Congratulations! :)

I have to agree - I am sooo not a furniture refinisher, but my daughter is graduating from college and headed to Colorado for law school. We decided that we would buy really cheap Ethan Allen furniture on FB Marketplace and refinish it. TFG is the best you tuber we have watched so far... NOW we are purely watching for entertainment because her furniture transformations are true Cinderella stories.

"Old girl" here. I'm a wood grain fan myself. However, I'm also a fan of Angie's work, and whatever she decides to use to finish out her work is fine by me. I trust her judgment exclusively. I've seen her apply paint in such a manner I'd never think of doing, because I'm not creative and knowledgeable like her, and her pieces always turn out extraordinary. As an "old girl," if I had a daughter, I'd wish for her to be as talented and nice as this young lady. So, "old guy" go with the paint and don't feel like you're going against any prior feelings you may have about refinishing.

Little late to this party, but just wanted to comment...love the style and presentation of your video! I actually came to your video by way of looking for tips on painting MDF and paper laminate RV cabinets. I feel much more comfortable now with just going with the artistic flow and knowing that the paper laminate will survive the prep, prime, and paint process. While there are many videos of painting the old school wood cabinets in RV's, I haven't been able to find anything on the MDF/paper laminate type of cabinets, so this is sooo helpful. Take care!

TSP is a must if your covering laminate , many years ago now I made over my mother's kitchen, at the time it was dark brown laminate and white council house kitchen units, so after they bought the house, funds tight I made over the units, built a kitchen bar, just made it all look more complete and light, I must admit I was chuft , mum & dad were over the moon, and it lasted too, polyurethane sealer at the time was the best , it really wore well, I think it was 9yrs later when mum moved to be with us , and it was still going strong . Like you say its in the prep and sealing . Love your work .

1st time on here. Very interested in your process. Couple of tricks for your gluing. 1. Put down your glue to your crack. Once on, take your shop vac & put the hose on the backside of the break & suck the glue into it. 2. You already have your popsicle sticks. Go ahead and spread it like you did but take another stick and push the glue into the gap, clamp & weigh it down & let it cure. Did not know to put the clear coat down 1st. That was what I was wanting to know. Great ideas!

Thank you for the suggestion. I actually have about a dozen methods and different tools I employ for getting glue into tight spaces. This is just the one I chose for this particular situation. I however do not use a vacuum as glue can get inside it and ruin it.
I've decided that it's the artist in you that makes all the difference. I watch other channels and just cringe at what they do to a piece of furniture. I say "WWAD" (what would Angie do)? Something more creative, modern and definitely have the wow factor. Keep it up!
