Learning with Alvar Aalto - Maison Louis Carré
This a new type of video we wanted to bring to Upstairs! We, as architects, learn so much by studying other projects, and how other architects think. That we thought of bringing this analysis over a short video.
We're still going to be creating Architectural Representation and Visualization videos. So don't worry!
Please let us know what you think about it. We were thinking about creating this as a monthly series and have a dedicated playlist for it.
The first episode is the Maison Louis Carré by the architect Alvar Aalto, a house from 1959. An amazing architecture piece!

We're not planning to stop posting visualization stuff, this is still going to be main channel focus. But from time to time why not learn from important Architects, right? Don't forget to leave suggestions for future videos! 😉
Keep going on for this new type of content, this is very inspiring. Architect need to learn more from their predecessor and not afraid to copy. Also, can't wait for the upcoming course, it must be interesting.

I had chosen this house for my architectural graphics course last year. I hand rendered it with pencil , pen and color. It was a fun experience. This video brings back memories. Thanks.

Absolutely agree with discovering less-known architecture 👏🏼 Keep up Oliver and everyone at upstairs 💜
I love all your content, but I am particularly excited about this new series! The way you present these projects with voiceover explanation and technical drawings interspersed with actual photos of the project works well and makes it easy for us to visualize the project :) Some suggestions for future videos: anything by Eladio Dieste, and the Tolo House by Álvaro Siza :)
Thanks Oliver for share this value content with us!

Great informative video! Would like to see more of these and also: how architecture needs to adapt due to covid-19! Working from home, while still trying to be healthy, active and social. Unfortunately we can’t all afford a Maison Louis Carré House.
Slightly curved ceiling hahaha... Great walktrough with important aspects, nice pictures. Keep going!

Kenzo Tange e Tadao Ando .. A lista é infindável !
Great start with Aalto. Suggestions: MVRDV, Zumthor, Marcilio Mendes Ferreira
Great.
Thanks from Hong Kong
Amazing video! Would love to have the next video on Heydar Aliyev Center, one of the iconic project by Zaha Hadid.

ceiling may guide the user in change space to another which deals the concept and aesthetic
You can intercalate the videos using architects of differents continents, for example, one of Europe in this video and one of Latin America in the next. Your videos are amazing, love from Panama

Great idea, Uriel! I want to bring architects from all different backgrounds. Thanks for the feedback!
This is cool as man! An idea that could be of interest is potentially some videos analysing design eras and how they influenced famous architectural works of the time of that precedent? Eg. Deconstructivism, minimalism, art deco etc. Keep up the good stuff bro :)
There are many houses in Finland designed by him. 💙Alvar Aalto🤍🇫🇮

Upstairs I had a guess that was the reason hahaha But amazing work, as always. Appreciate the content! ❤️
Rose Pauson House. I recreated 3D printsvle models of it. However I did not release it to the public because I have been trying to sell the models
Most of the time one encounters only exteriors for aalto architecture. However, the more I see the interiors the more I see the similarities with Barragan. The entry and bookshelf strikes the feeling for the casa-estudio in Tacubaya. Evidently the panel work on the ceiling is unique, however the "feeling" is similar. Or it's just an architect's fantasy, who knows.
💪💪💪
Oliver- You r wicked- but Thanx Yo!!
Why aren't you talking about the second floor plan!!!!
