Parking lots were full at 10:00 and record number of people were on the hill. The board held on good in the chunder and hard pack and was very maneuverable. I'm 5'9 155ish with a size 10.5 boot. Was looking at either the 153 or the 150. Not a huge difference in waist width or nose/tail width (.2cm) between the two but for someone who likes hitting bigger jumps and drops into powder, will I notice a difference in float or landing gear/stability at all? Or is the only difference going to be the maneuverability in tight spots?

Great review. I've been riding this board hard all season. The Orca REALLY excels in the deep powder. I actually like it more than my Burton fish at this point in the deep stuff, and that's saying something. And it's also incredible (as you say in your video) in the crud and fast groomers. Totally agree there. It's a hell of a quiver board. I also ride a Burton Custom X and Burton Skeleton key regularly. This became my go-to board this year and it's been great. Totally recommend it if you are an expert rider. Not a good board for greenies.

Hey Avran, I'm currently riding a 2016 K2 Ultra Dream 161 as my daily (50ish days a season, living in Saas-Fee, Swiss alps) - it's pretty much the perfect board for me, apart from the waist width that's a tad too slim. I'm a US10 and I get some pretty heavy toe and heel drag when I'm laying a trench... Unfortunately they don't make it anymore and I can't find a used one anywhere otherwise I'd switch to a 159W. Would you say the orca is relatively comparable? I know the camber profiles are different but from what you're describing it sounds like they ride relatively similar... If not, what's currently on the market that matches up? I'm a huge fan of flat boards with early rise, flat kick, or whatever other mumbo jumbo marketing a brand can come up with. Look forward to hearing from you, thanks!

I'm sure its quite a different board but which would be a better pow quiver board in your opinion, this or the Mind Expander? Seems ME more surfy due to the rocker. It's just the fact that they both can be sized down and be nimble (like the Yes Optimistic also). Guess I gotta test them out before deciding! It seems like to me I'd be after the 153 Orca / 154 Mind Expander (6'2 150lbs / Size 11 boots)

Eventually I'll get to reviewing it. Kind of waiting on snow right now. I think for what you're looking for and describing to me either a 147 or a 150 will work for. 50 will be better at carving and give more float in pow, but the 47 will be more nimble in the trees. So just ask yourself where it's going to get the most use and go from there.

    4 жыл бұрын

Well with a name like Erika I'd hope you're a girl, otherwise you probably got teased a lot as a boy as a kid. It's not super stiff, the board is playful enough torsionally and that camber profile adds to that. The issue I'd have is your 7 boot might be a bit small on that 44 with the 25.5 waist which means it's probably closer to 26 at the insert packs. You may be a bit sluggish edge to edge when you get on firmer snow.

I’m 5’11 175lb. Riding all over the mountain. What size would you suggest now that they have rolled out more size options. The 147 or 150? Thanks
