In this video I give you a review of the 2020 Lib Tech Orca powder snowboard. I've had the chance to ride the Lib Tech Orca over that last few weeks in deep Japan Powder. This has bee the best snowboarding test that I could put the 2020 Orca through. This is my second Lib Tech Orca in two years of snowboarding. The last one was a 153 which was great for powder and quick turns, but this year I bought a 159 Orca which I find to be more stable at high speeds and help to land drops into powder. Overall the Lib Tech Orca has been my favorite powder snowboard of the last few years. It would be great to hear from you in the comments about the powder snowboard your are riding. For more snowboarding reviews make sure to like and subscribe. Thanks for watching!

I have the bataleon ct in a 158 I believe. The board is a beast in powder. It floats better than any board that I have ridden and it performs really well at high speeds on any type of terrain. The 3bt nose is insanely floaty. I would recommend this board to anyone.

I bought a lib tech mayhem rocket last year and it was the greatest board purchase of my life. Charges groomers and handles pow with its big wide nose. Ive always had wide boards and still was struggling with toe drag on my high speed carving. This board makes me a better rider for sure! Widest waist width I could find!

I got the 2020 Orca this year because my 2018 TRS HP likes to nose down in the deeper snow even with the C2X profile underfoot because it's a true twin. I've got both boards in 159 size and the Orca solved all of the things I was hoping it would. It feels a lot like my TRS but slightly slower coming around on carves due to the wider waist and longer nose but it floats on top of deep snow with ease. I love both of my boards but the 2020 Orca did exactly what I hoped and is still great for ripping groomers or handling icier days.

Kevin I was torn between the Orca and the BRD and chose to go with the BRD 159 for my do it all board and am curious for you to give that a try a do a comparison. I spend all my time in the trees searching for powder here in Montana and look at groomers as the transport between zones. C3 versus C2 was my deciding factor in my choice. A more powder specific profile with taper and a standard setback of 2.5" really does change the way you can attack steep and deep.

@@Montanaliving I agree! I recently picked up a 2020 headspace and I was surprised how responsive it was in general, especially in carving etc for a park board which they aren't usually good at. Tons of pop, butters nice but not too soft, though it does chatter when you are going fast in choppy conditions. But as others have said, you don't get this board for speed because its made for jibbing and park etc.

I feel this is very subjective. I have last season and this season Orca (not ridden this seasons yet) and ridden in deep powder last season on the older one and thought it was good. This season i took my Salomon Max Buri Pro (next season will be called the Dancehaul) in a 151 (although its actually a 152) and found it floated better in the powder. The softer flex on the nose just made it more enjoyable to ride in the deeper stuff and its works well on piste as well. Also has used it for freestyle as well hitting bigger jumps.

I have a 153 Orca and a 154 Bataleon Party Wave. I’m 5’ 8”, 167 lbs. The Party Wave floats better in powder. The Orca is better if you might hit some ice or some groomers while you’re out. It’s also more stable at high speeds and more precise, like taking a straight line down a steep slope in powder that isn’t as deep and soft. The Party Wave is a blast in powder, but it’s dicey on ice and doesn’t hold an edge as well on piste in my opinion. You really have to get used to turning it because it doesn’t grab until you roll it over. It’s better in wet snow and slushy conditions than the Orca. The Orca is a board that is hard to not want to ride. Too many advantages. I ride it 75% of the time and 25% Party Wave. I live in Switzerland where the snow is usually not wet or slushy.

I sold my Orca. Sadly, it was too small for me. Before buying I contacted Libtech customer support with the question whether the board (159) will be good for me. I'm 6'3, 227 lbs, boot size: 11.5 I get a response: "You can go with a 159 ideally, and the shorter 156 if you wanted to." The main reason I sold the Orca it was a too narrow stance (for me). For the last 5 years I was riding YES BASIC and used to wide stance. On Orca I spread the bindings as much as possible, placed on the last holes and after riding it still doesn't felt right. When I measured my old YES Basic board I find out that it has a 3cm wider stance that the Orca. 3cm sounds not much but it has a big difference for me. At first, looked like an awesome board (and it is) for my riding style, but sadly not made for me, I had to sell it. Now I've got the YES STANDARD 2020, feels awesome to me.
