    I have never trained in martial arts and holy crap I feel like an idiot after watching some of these Fight School and Ring Craft videos. I never even thought about the whole transfer of motion part of punching, nor the elbow generating extra mass... martial arts/MMA/boxing/etc are all so technical! It's awesome to see it step by step.

    See, to me it seems like common sense, but, I understand that I have an extreme bias here; I’ve been doing martial arts since I was five. So, I can’t fathom not getting it, but, I can, if that makes any sense.

    Rusty Shackleferd It really is. It’s the art of fighting. All forms of hand to hand combat are art. I wish more people could see that they all have something to offer. To many “boxers”. Too many “BJJ” guys. Not enough “martial artists”. My dad could beat up your dad. That’s really what the argument boils down to. Unfortunately, I see this mentality from far too many of my fellow “martial artists”.

    Honestly I'm surprised this coach didn't mention to pivot your left foot, because in this day and age there's so much film of pro boxers and mma fighters where you can see what they really are doing and on those left hooks and I don't see pros "pivoting" yet coaches tell fighters to do so, if you look closely at condits left foot when he knocks out the opponent his left foot isn't pivoting because it slows down the speed of your bodies rotation and logically the punches in the combination. What are your thoughts?

  • @kimoliver051

    @kimoliver051

    fabiolito28 I agree, I get told to always pivot the lead foot but I rarely see fighters do it in real life. I'd like to think that maybe it depends on the situation but that's just me.

  • @LeandroAlmeida108

    fabiolito28 in muay thay the back of the leg is the most painful part if is kicked (also takes away a little of your balance), so the only reason is the leg kick while a cross.In muay thai thats not that rare, but in MMA striking i think you can do that without taking much risk

  • @boxingformma4543

    @boxingformma4543

    fabiolito28 It's so strange. Pivoting is totally useless when hitting the lead hook. It's too slow and it takes away power and stability. And if you miss the punch, you turn around and loose your balance. Freddie Roach does the same thing even though any of his fighters don't pivot when going full speed.

  • @gamwpanagia

    @gamwpanagia

    fabiolito28 Fuck pivoting,power comes from your hip-core body rotation anyway.

    gamwpanagia it's like power lifting.. not only using ur arms but using ur shoulders, back, thighs and legs... Theres something call "chain reaction" or something were the energy is transferred from your legs through your body into your punch. Every boxer knows this.

    Such a basic combination but it was executed at a super high level. It's a 1,2,3, however watch how Condit throws his 1,2. He steps in and to the inside of Hardy as he throws his jab with absolutely no hip rotation as we'd expect. He measures his distance here and baits in a shot from Hardy. As soon as Hardy throws, Condit is able to slip inside AS he throws his 2. This is due to his footwork prior to throwing the shots. As he throws his 2, he rotates his hips into the shot. Regardless of whether or not the 2 does damage, he is now on the inside on an angle and can throw his entire body into his 3 to finish the combination, rotating his hips back into original position. Solid! Keep It Simple, Stupid!

And MMA fighters that do come from boxing backgrounds..... usually come from very amateur-level backgrounds.... i.e. they may have had a few amateur fights, maybe participated in a one or two tournaments, etc.... it's not as if you get elite boxers coming to MMA, that's very rare
