Kathleen's bearded Lieutenant, Perry, is played by Jeffrey Pierce, who did the voice and mo-cap for Tommy, in the games.

Joel woke up on the wrong side of his body... he slept on his good ear, hence he could not hear the broken glass. Also, he was exhausted from not sleeping the night before.

The thing I am loving about the show, other then all the game stuff being recreated, is the attention to detail. At the end there Joel at some point rolled over in his sleep and his bad ear was the one in the air suggesting that's how Henry and Sam were able to get past the glass on the floor without waking him up.

Also the reason he is so deeply asleep is because she was worried an infected would show up in the woods so he stood guard instead of going to sleep.

From what was revealed in the episode: - Kathleen's group were the residents of the QZ who overthrew FEDRA and took it over for themselves. - Kathleen's brother was beaten to death while in FEDRA custody, which implies that Kathleen might have been the one to instigate the rebellion, which explains why they are following her - Kathleen tells the doctor that she knows Henry gave FEDRA information about her brother, so she holds him responsible for his death - Kathleen's use of the word "collaborators" implies that they are now hunting down anyone who they feel gave information to or sided with FEDRA before and during the rebellion. Hence why Kathleen was asking the doctor if he knew the locations of people on her list

Alternate Title: Guns and Puns. #1 33 flights of stairs is about 20 more then I would have made, so kudos to Joel lol #2 For as dark and scary as this world is, Ellie still has so much light in her. I love the moments where you can see her cracking through Joel's hardened exterior. That moment at the end with him laughing at her dumb joke was just so sweet. I can't wait to meet the mysterious Henry and Sam! (Not to mention the scary thing in the basement!)

Thought it was good that they dragged out the death of Bryan. In the game I think it’s clean and quick and while Joel had no choice, it showcased his ruthlessness and even though Bryan attacked him, he’s only trying to survive and Joel admits he has done the same thing. Kathleen seems to be foreshadowing LOU2 with her desire for revenge and I wonder if they go ahead with that there’ll be a call back.

I think it is more Ellie killing / hurting someone, not necessarily with a gun. And if you would have played the DLC then you might had an idea, but still would not know. The show already dropped hints towards the DLC too but the relevant part that could come into play here is something we never saw, but maybe was loosely implied. By the way, I don't know if you actually got that, but Ellie did actually paralyze Bryan by shooting him in the lower back, so his begging was very much genuine.

I found it very interesting that Ellie's question in the car about Tommy was really answered in the staircase in the house. In the car, there was only the one-sided view of Tommy's life from Joel's perspective of the protective brother. In the staircase the picture was then completed. Tommy has attacked, robbed and killed too many more or less innocent people with Tess and Joel. That's why he left Joel and Tess for the Fireflys. He then left the Fireflys for similar reasons. Violence without results. Basically, he wanted to be a hero 3 times and each time he was disappointed. Joel thinks Tommy needs him to survive. He thinks he needs to take care of Tommy, but Joel needs Tommy more than Tommy needs him. For Joel, it looks like Tommy doesn't know where he stands. But Tommy knows what he wants and if nobody gives him that and everyone around him are nefarious murderer, then he leaves these people and looks for new ones in the hope of bringing positive change. As I understand it, Henry here is a snitch and responsible for Kathleen's brother death by betrayal. I guess he betrayed them because Fedra threatened Sam. I think Kathleen's brother was the leader of the resistance movement and she was probably the mom of the troops. That's the only reason I can imagine why the group follows her at all, so insecure and focused on revenge she seems. The bottom line is that she has absolutely understandable reasons. Just as good reasons as anyone else on the show and Joel wouldn't do anything else. In fact he did the same. Shows again that no group is good or bad. Joel executed a teenager here. This was not a man. He was paralyzed, screaming for his mother begging for his life. There was no need to execute him. Joel knew his comrades were coming, he was no danger. KO, so he doesn't see where the two are going. What could he have revealed? It was a man and a child and that's it. Would have been even better, because now they believe they were mercenaries on Henry's behalf. A husband and a child might have interested Kathleen as much as the crater in the basement. Not at all. Joel's poor hearing has been shown throughout the episode. He always sleeps on the right side and Ellie often had to repeat when she called Joel. He didn't hear Henry and Sam because he hadn't slept the night before and because he had laid down on his good ear in his sleep. The only criticism so far is really the lack of brutality shown by Joel, because that is very important. Firstly, Joel was brutal and ruthless and secondly it's important for the second season. I think it is a mistake not to show this in all its brutality. The show still has to improve and I hope it will be later. It just has to. Btw... I still believe that Ellie pocketed the two grenades that fell at her feet when Tess had her heroic death. And the Bloater under the crater will eat them.

@@TomTomson81 I don't get why people are so upset about the death of Bryan. He got what he deserved. He participated in an ambush against total strangers. In the ambush they attacked and even opening fire with guns against people they had no way of knowing could defend themselves. Their plan was to murder them and take their shit. Bryan himself charged Joel with a gun and would have shot him if Joel hadn't knocked it away just in time (you see Bryan's gun discharge right by Joel's head). Then he tacked Joel and attempted to crush his windpipe. He was a murderer beginning to end. What makes anyone think Bryan is a child? The actor is closer to 30 than he is to 16. Is it because he calls for his mom? Go watch Saving Private Ryan, grown men call for the mothers when they die.

@@testfire3000 Bella is 19 and plays a 14-year-old. The actor of Bryan plays a teenager or as Joel called him kid. I don't think anyone is upset that Bryan is dead. That is not the point. That was never the point. It's just that Joel did exactly the same thing and is perceived by many as the hero of the story, despite better knowledge. But it is also a fact that this murder was completely unnecessary. For the reasons mentioned.

Julia & Trent, I love your reactions. I'll have to go back to the first episode though to get them all. I liked this episode. Love Ellie's puns and I'm sure that was Pedro laughing as himself and not just in character. He's got a wacky sense of humor. You may already know that Melanie Lynskey is on a series called Yellow Jackets. Haven't seen it yet though. She was on Jimmy Fallon last week and they talked a bit about TLOU. She's married to Jason Ritter (John Ritter's son) who plays a clicker/infected in the next episode. She also does a great impression of Drew Barrymore. Check it out on youtube.

I have seen this in movies and shows. The “good guy,” unless specifically a military character, or John Wick will use bolt action rifles or handguns, while antagonists or villains can use AR 15 style rifles. Imagine thing is my guess. But bugs me as well. They showed Bill have ARs on his wall but he only used a shotgun and a bolt rifle. AR would have made the most sense for Joel to take from Bill and Frank’s, or in addition to other weapons and should have been his primary. Capacity, low recoil, accuracy (varies) superior. He had one from the fedra officer but only used it once and hid it away.
