Since the world ended in 2003, it would be great for people to watch movies about hope and world rebuilding, stuff about heroes and heroines. Star Wars, the original trilogy comes to mind, the Indiana Jones series as well. I also feel films like Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan would be incredibly important for this world. Also, art and humanities is something essential to us being human, so there isn’t really any wrong film to watch. Comedies, tragedies, dramas, documentaries, etc. all serve to entertain, and give a bit of escape in this dire universe. Hell, they do this for us now.

Part of me wonders how joel feels knowing that he took such extreme measures and took a deal that led to Tess getting bit thinking “Tommy’s in trouble I gotta get to him as soon as possible!” Now seeing that Tommy is fine. That they didn’t need a battery, they didn’t need to bring Ellie anywhere, that if Tommy had only radio’d and let him know he was ok that Tess would still be ok.

That is were the anger and rescentment came from in his looks towards Maria, and Tommy having a good life. He was also jealous. Graig and Neil talk about it in the podcast. For me I felt Joel in this moment, being the first born, and seeing how my little brother has had it easier during our time with a sick mom. I was angry for a long time and been having so much shit happen to me since then. But now I look at my little brother and he is married and a dad. I am happy that one of us got some sort of normal functional life. Sounds very sad, but I will get there to where I want to be.

Also, I don’t know it the Cody tower is still operational; Maria said they’re careful about using the radio, but a few characters confirm Cody is overrun w/ infected… so it might just be a case of dramatic irony, where Joel assumes Tommy chose to stop contacting Joel, when really the tower was out; it also might have amounted to the same thing to both characters though, where Tommy is too preoccupied and overwhelmed w/ the idea of introducing Jackson to Joel, and Joel is desperate for a chance to save a family member because he couldn’t save Sarah

@@number1fool I think this was solved in ep 2. When they realize Ellie is immune, both of them (specially Tess) state that she matters way more than both of their lives. Heck: Tess´s last wish is for Joel to get Ellie to a lab, where they can create a cure, because (and I quote) "She fckng matters, Joel..." If Pedro Pascal is not nominated for best actor at every awards show this year THEN NO ONE DESERVES TO BE NOMINATED!!!! This was perhaps my most anticipated episode of the season and somehow it’s BETTER THAN THE GAME! Jackson looks beautiful and Gabriel Luna is as perfectly cast as Tommy as Pedro is for Joel. But what really got me were scenes of Joel clutching his heart from panic attacks and looking up to see a young woman who almost looks like Sarah, and when he was telling Tommy the truth that he believed that he was going to fail Ellie and get her killed. When Joel was getting teary eyed I cried at that scene, but when we got to my absolute favorite dramatic scene in the game when Joel and Ellie are talking about loss I lost it. That was my most anticipated scene of the entire series and not only did it live up to the hype, it exceeded it. And just like the game it broke me.😭😭😭😭

The number of times I screamed ‘leave the knife in!’ haha. Another solid episode. Incredible showings from everyone, but especially Pedro Pascal. The kind of anxious fear that has settled in Joel comes out so naturally in Pascal’s performance. There’s not only a boundary between Joel and everyone else, but between Joel and his own fears/feelings. He’s cut himself off from being vulnerable with anyone else, but also with himself. He really hasn’t let himself feel anything until they get to Wyoming. You could argue Tess got through that boundary a little, but Ellie has just blown it wide open. And it’s all set against the beautiful backdrop of snowy mountains. :)

This episode was amazing and being that it's episode 6 of 9, this serves as the end of the second act, where Joel and Ellie finally reach some sort of understanding at the end that they do care about each other only for things to go sideways again. The scene where Ellie pushes Joel is almost identical to the game (they even got the wallpaper the same), and it's one of the most critical scenes to get right since it's where Joel realizes that Ellie's emotional burden is on par with his own and there is an unspoken understanding after that of, "We both know now that I care for you like a daughter and you care for me like a father but we're too damaged to say so openly so we won't speak of it again", and in many ways if that scene didn't work, then the whole story doesn't work. It was one of the scenes I was MOST anxious to see how they handled it in the show, since Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson did SUCH a great job w/ it in the game - the bar was high. But I have to say that Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey hit it out of the park, there are so many emotions that they are both feeling in that scene and we as the audience feel every one of them, it's brilliant and so well done. Cheers

I loved how the Tommy & Joel and Joel & Ellie conversations mirrored each other - to Tommy, Joel is all 'I'm not good enough for her, I'm going to get her killed, I'm failing her' (I loved that they left it unspecified whether J was talking about just Sarah or Ellie as well, I think both based on the surrounding lines), and to Ellie he doesn't get to specify why he needs it to be Tommy to take her, he lifts his wall up the minute Ellie confronts him about it. Just perfect storytelling.

I have a feeling that in the next episode we will be in Joel's head, seeing flashbacks as like memories of Sarah, maybe he did some singing and playing a guitar too, before the world collapsed. That would be really interesting and neat to see since he has most likely gone into an unconscious state.

As a fan of the games, Greg and Andrew's elated and immediate recognition of easter eggs and other straight out of the game material is very rewarding. John and Tara, your speculations, jokes, and emotional reactions are very entertaining. I particularly enjoy your articulate analysis of each episode. Consider the bell rung.

it wasn't a railroad tie, when the raider came at Joel, he swung a bat at joel, but it hit the tree and broke the bat, you can hear it crack. he must have still been holding onto handle when he & joel were fightin and stabbed him with it. the song was the 80s depeche mode song Never Let me Down Again that was played at end episode one. this was a remix sung by the daughter of director Craig Mazin

This episode was like a rollercoaster ride emotionally. I was enjoying the whole show, but the thing I loved the most was the couple in the cabin. I wish there was a lot more of them. The wife's comedic timing was cracking me up. I really enjoy the John and Tara duo chemistry cause it's so fun and bubbly. Hope that Tara can become a regular like Andrew. I don't know why, but I feel that I would love watching you two react to Horror and Comedy movies/TV shows. The facial reactions to Horror would be felt and the funny stuff you two come up with during a Comedy would have me rolling in laughter. Enjoyed the reaction, so until next time 👍👍✌ out.

I think Joel is truly afraid of watching Ellie get hurt or killed. By the time he realizes he’s feeling his age, his fear becomes unbearable because he’s already beginning to love Ellie as a daughter, and it scares him to have those feelings, and terrified of losing her, failing her, and being reminded of the pain of losing Sarah (he said so much in their argument). Pedro Pascual really hit the mark with his performance in this episode, and Gabriel Luna’s and Bella Ramsey’s acting with him was nothing short of brilliant. This show has completely transcended the game, even if they’ve been taking 95% of the dialog from the source material, no offense to the fantastic actors who first gave the characters life.

I was completely hooked on the series from the start. Perfect mix of actions and emotions, the acting is impeccable. Pedro Pascal so screaming truth, just like Bella Ramsey. I like the game in finesse, a look, a posture and we understood the intention. I particularly liked the scene with the native couple. I had also wondered how natives who had remained close to nature would have experienced the events. In the end, it doesn't change much in their lives because they have always been in balance with nature and independent, I love that aspect. I also regret that we have not seen more exchanges between this couple and Joel and Ellie. Very surprised by Jackson City, almost too ideal even if it's good to see and to realize even more the gap between Ellie and the other children. Regarding Joel's panic attacks, they are logical since he becomes more and more attached to Ellie, which rekindles the fear of loss. He spent years shielding himself or using "crutches" (medication, alcohol) to sleep. Since he no longer has a way to “appease” his anxieties, they resurface. Can't wait to see the sequel and a little apprehensive too since it seems that the end is dark. I'm waiting for that.
