"Hail and well met, good grillmonger! A twosilver for your finest Big Mac!" "Ah, by King. We have no Mac, neither big nor small; but we do not begrudge thee thine heathen customs. Here thy twosilver affords the King's own Whopper."
Hail friends! Let us "Stay a while and listen..." 🛡️
In the States, we also say "Hey man!", or "Dude!".
Always an insta-click when I see one of these get posted.

Same here, the info is always absolute gold
Huh, the backgrounds really do it for me.... for whatever reason. This nice inn instantly made me want to watch it ahhaah
Great pod Hank. The little details give a ton of flavour and really helps anchor the game.
Not everyone in the world has a British accent, the characters only happen to run into the same family who has cousins all over the world.
I sat down to do this with my campaign world as I was listening and it instantly clarified my own thoughts about the cultures in the world. Immediate improvement with 5 minutes of work. Thanks!
These are great bullets. I am just finishing reading Shogun (J. Clavell) again and so many things of what you are saying stands out as the book describes the samurai culture. Keep it up! =)

Oh man Shogun is legendary
Γεία σου και σένα Runehammer! Being greek this warm my heart 😁😁! Always happy to listen to these treasure troves for dms.
The "music" reminds me of the old Carlin "Wonderful WINO" bit where he's doing a parody of top 40 radio of the time. Another thing about the trigger custom: In the US, we have various forms of the handshake, like the fist bump, the bro hug, the chest bump, and a whole lot of others. Even the basic handshake can vary in nuance depending on the situation. And the one(s) you know or use place you in your own corner of the culture of the country.
I've been doing values for awhile, and always love the texture it gives to the people of a place. I like to use the tables in Worlds Without Number to give me 2 things the culture values, and one thing they're suspicious of or undervalue. The other bullets will be excellent additions to my notes.
Inspired by the concept of the pebble; a savvy player who wants to become a merchant within that culture might scratch a symbol on the pebble they offer to the other person. Eventually, those pebbles will be recognized by buyers and sellers and if the player is honest/fair that connotation will become synonymous with that character and their reputation.
excited to watch this!
I also use the bullets points! It help structure my ideas. Thks for this really nice video!

No one can digest the bones. You could arguably get more complicated burials to avoid curses LOL 😂
First time ever finding this channel. This one video has me hooked!

@@Runehammer1 I'm struggling to get my own first one shot campaign going. Thank you for this video and your encouraging tune, it's reminded me that I have work to do on it and the four-point method gives me a great space to start again!
Interesting video!
Even small differences can have consequences. The idea of the shibboleth. The narcissism of small differences. To an outsider they mean little but can be the difference between getting out alive. I grew up in sectarian Strathclyde with its echo of Byzantine chariot race violence shifted to football. Even calling the game football rather than soccer is a flag. A good cinematic example of a gestural shibboleth is the cellar scene in Inglorious Bastards.
I have been moving away from "races" and focusing more on culture in rpg. I think more cam be done with humans that have interesting cultural differences than a bunch of fantastic races that basically act the same.
