Let's kick this thing off! I take some time to process some of the key reader questions that started the MAINFRAME in the first place.

Glad to see this being released to a wider audience
These episodes were {and continue to be} some of the most influential sources of guidance, inspiration, and GM-thinking for my D&D hobby. Glad they're getting shared here for even more GMs to find!

I came here based on your recommendation and now I found you here haha it's so good!
Great advice about the murderboaters. Very tempting to just flip the table over but better to turn this gross moment into learning opportunity.
I had this happen to me, where the players basically drove the main plot and came up with the actual goal for the campaign after finishing a module. I had something totally different in mind, but we played the rest of that campaign from lvl 7 to 14 and had a blast. Throwing out my stuff was fine since player investment was really on point and I had a shit ton of fun playing to their interests. I can only encourage anyone in this situation to go with the players ideas.
Blood of the innocent could always call forth monsters... mass murder for a rowboat, the blood summons a demon crab, serpent, or shark something on theme to come take their boat away. Maybe the whole village becomes ghosts or Lovecraftian horrors that hunt them everywhere they go lol xD
What a great surprise! Love the “get-to-itness” of the show. This has got to be one of the densest GM advice casts ever - so much great advice in such a short time!
Awesome. Loved this. Also, great background music.
I would be so cool to have a new "session" of rpg mainframe. Deep diving in rpg game design and thinking are soooo great to listen to.
This is what I 100% want from you sir. Let's sit by and drink from the pool of knowledge.
Glad your doing this again. This is the content that brought me to you years ago. Been a subscriber since you were under 5K subs.
Yeah, cool !Really glad that the RPG Mainframe is back.
Glad to see yoy going back to your roots. This is the kinda thing that brought me here innthe firdt place all tbose years ago before ICRPG was ever released. Stength. Honour. And Beer 🍺
"You're gonna kill everyone in the village for a row boat...." Pulls out GM notebook, *'Gods decree that every floating vessel that the party members embarks on will sink violently, until they atone.'
I really liked the discussion about Low Intelligence characters. Not that it's an issue at the table, but the concept reminds me of fictional characters like Colonel O'Neill (SG-1) and Wrecker (Star Wars: Bad Batch). Low intelligence isn't necessarily stupid, they're simply not the scholarly type.
In all aspects of life. Communication is crucial.
first video of you i’ve seen; it randomly was on my recommended lol. I’m 2x the GM I was before I listened to this. thanks dude! subbed
Wohoo RPG Mainframe is back - love it!
Hi Hankerin. Love your Drunkens&Dragons content. Pushing da Like-button included
you have helped so much can't thank you enough
Man oh man does this flood me with fond memories. Glad to see you sharing this out there!
love this format, Henk!! thanks a lot for all of this condensed knowledge!
YESSSSSSSSSSS IT'S BACK
Ooo. Currently running a caster Villain! And thanks for doing Talks!!!
Awesome! I mostly listen to YT anyway, so not wondering if I’m missing something visual is even better!
On the rowboat genocide: This behavior may reflect how people are trained to interact with videogames. Kill everyone in the town in Skyrim, next town guard yell "hey scoundrel" ha ha that's funny Sending an uberarchon to lay the smack down actually reinforces the videogame mindset. What we can do in tabletop games that videogames have a much harder time doing is interrogate that behavior. Send a child, now orphaned to approach the group and ask "why would you do such a terrible thing? I loved my busha". They may kill the kid. But keep sending these emissaries of moral reminders. They may just kill them, and then yeah they want to play an evil campaign. You may have a group of sociopaths on your hands. But make them talk to every innocent they kill. At that point, rather than send the big avenger, send the big evil recruiter. Run them through an evil campaign, but remember a master without moral compunctions may grant great wealth initially, but may also be capricious and cruel.
Everything you make is absolute gold, Midas touch content creator
awesome!
Mainframe!! Woot woot
Yes. YES. Yes!!!!!
The second mail bag: I generally enjoy it when my players come with a goal, but I would be interested to see what the other players think of this one player trying to be king (might need a tribunal). I would not be interested in playing in a game where another player is being seeded to become king just because it pushes all the other players in the background; especially with the other problem of him being rude to the npc's. That is why domain play in ad&d let all classes become a landed noble of some kind to let all players be a lord so no one is left out. I would also know what was agreed to when they started this game. The gm might be playing a module because they do not have time to create a system of peerage and succession for a Dwarven king that the module has one sentence on. I am not sure it is a reasonable ask if you sign up for an Island of Dread campaign and a player decides he would rather play a farm simulator so the gm needs to make farming mechanics so they are not bored. Generally, the gm might have been excited about running x and it is a party foul not to play x after you agreed to it. Kind of a party foul if you get your crew together to play Blood Bowl, make everyone assemble an army, paint a team, and learn the rules to have you pull out Candyland. Flexibility is a must when playing with other people, but that requires both sides to meet in the middle. Loved the show.

all viable 'possibly bad' cases, but I only play with good friends, so we don't act mean to each other or fall into these pitfalls... no one is ever 'left out' in any way :)

@@Runehammer1 I understand your stance and it is a good faith suggestion that works for most circumstances. I just get kind of twitchy when it is one divergent player and no one asks how the rest of the group is doing. Tribunal for the win in this mail bag. Keep up the good work.
What!? Cool, but what is this wizardry?
Really confused about why poisonous character creation is allowed at the start? Seems like some players want to create villians, and that's a DM job?????
