@Ermac Jones yet I'm objectively correct. You just spouted your asinine opinion. Most scream films have horrible writing and terribly shallow contrived plots- the acting is embarrassing at moments and sometimes the directors are clearly bad at their job.

Evil Dead was the very first horror movie I saw back in the 80's and I was 8. I watched it with my mother. She was a horror fan at the time and passed that on to me. I was terrified and I loved it. So, it began... That's why watching you discussing horror topics with your father is delightful. Such a wonderful feeling to share a passion with your parents. Excellent video Kylie! You did the Evil Dead fandom proud with this deep dive. To expand on your point of “The ripple effects of this franchise know no bounds”, as a lifelong gamer It is very fitting that you explored the history of the Evil Dead video games, because the Evil Dead franchise was also very influential to the video game industry as a whole. Evil Dead 2 popularized the double barrel shotgun & chainsaw and is cited as one of the key inspirations for the 1993 video game “Doom”, a game about a space marine sent to Mars to fight a demonic invasion of the planet, which just so happens to feature both a sawed off double barrel shotgun and a chainsaw as usable weapons. Sound familiar? Doom in itself is one of the greatest & most influential games of all time that spawned its own franchise that is still going strong to this day, and is widely considered to be the “father” of the first person shooter genre of video games. Several characters from other similar games like Duke Nukem 3D have lifted quotes from Army of Darkness & used it in their games, one example of which being Duke’s use of the quote “Hail to the king, baby!” In fact so many of Ash’s quotes were being lifted directly that Bruce Campbell was, rather understandably, upset by the fact he wasn’t consulted beforehand or being paid for their usage of the quotes.

I only just recently found your channel through your Tim Burton deep dive video since it was in my recommended and while I normally don't watch review and essay type videos, I appreciate the amount of research and work you put into these, especially when talking about the BTS stuff. I usually get bored out of my mind watching commentary/essay videos cause they're just not the type of videos I like watching. But I love how yours are professional and detailed. But also entertaining with your quick wittedness and sometimes random antics. Also I'm not the biggest horror fan but I do love goth aesthetic. And I love and have mad respect to anyone who rocks a gothic look and fit. And you pull it off amazingly BTW. @@HauntedHippie Of course, at least I do. I do love some chaotic randomness sometimes. I probably would've watched something else if there wasn't any since I just find reviews and commentary videos boring a lot of the time. Plus the reviews I have watched for some shows and movies I've watched, I don't like how cynical some of them are. Or you'll have some who will label people something negative and sometimes offensive just for enjoying a movie or show that they may have not liked. You see that all the time on Twitter (which I rarely am ever on). And I'm just not into the ranting and raving. But I appreciate from some of your videos I've skimmed through (specifically your unpopular horror opinions), you don't do that and I greatly appreciate how respectful you are. It's so hard to find wholesome and respectful creators but I'm glad you're one of the ones I found

Yes! This deep dive is groovy asf! One of the most comprehensive evil dead videos I’ve ever seen and will ever be! My favorite moments were 22:26 and 32:46 where you chew the 5cream writers a new asshole for ripping off Bruce and shooting the bird at a snobby Roger Ebert for panning Army of Darkness! So satisfying and hilarious! And this was educational on indie filmmaking as well. Fun fact: even when the first movies production was on hold, due to no money, not all of the cast and crew would return because of scheduling conflicts or whatever so they filmmakers would use “fake shemps” (basically other people standing in for the absent actors) like there’s a scene in the first movie that shows Scotty’s feet walking to a deadite Cheryl and it’s actually Ted Raimi as the legs! And, of course, fake shemp is a term from the three stooges where another actor would put on a wig and have his back turned to the camera pretending to be shemp lol the three stooges influence runs deep! And speaking of deep, this deep dive was a blast to see! I would let you swallow my soul and be my maggot mommy!

Wow, you went above and beyond with this Deep Dive Kylie! The thing that surprised me the most was the Evil Dead game for the ZX Spectrum. This whole time I thought the first Evil Dead game was Evil Dead: Hail to the King on Dreamcast and PlayStation. The more you know. You know if it wasn't for Evil Dead the MCU might not even exist.Sam Raimi's Spider-Man which was produced by Kevin Feige and I just read at Slashfilm that that was when Feige got the idea to cross-pollinate (his words) different superheroes together in the same movies. And like you said if it wasn't for Stephen King the Evil Dead series might not have happened. Humanity is such a crazy tapestry! I did know about the play though. Been thinking about watching it on youtube. And please do the season videos for Ash VS Evil Dead, I think you'll love it! And if they bring back Ash in something like what Bruce Campbell was hinting at I hope it contines where Ash VS Evil Dead left off, because it was so freaking cool and we never got a fourth season. I need a continuation of that!

As a note Joseph LoDuca scored all three of the original movies. Danny Elfman only did the March of the Dead theme for Army of Darkness. Joseph LoDuca went on to work with Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert in the Hercules and Xena TV show. Lucy Lawless (Xena) married Rob and Bruce and Ted Raimi had tons of appearances in those shows.

Regarding the section on Evil Dead Rise, I would really like to see the history of the priests, and maybe a grown up Kassie and her new cousin being like the Evil Dead version of Sam and Tara from the new Scream series- Kassie has dealt with the Deadites in Evil Dead Rise and Beth, Kassie and a child could be the family slayer against the new Deadites- it would be fun to see it take place in a school.

Would you add to your companion pieces Creepshow: Public Television of The Dead (2021), My Name Is Bruce (2007) and Drag Me To Hell (2009) (Which could get a sequel, said by Raimi not long ago.)? You should check them out, i recommend them for ED fans, they are heavy linked to the franchise, one directed by Greg Nicotero, one by Bruce and the other one by Sam!! All three have Ted Raimi in them as usual !!! Bruce have said a season 4 of the series could be made with him voicing Ash in it as an animated series, as what made him retire from the role was more the physical slapstick stuff as he is older now and injuries were getting worse as the series went on. Loved the video and your reviews, the effort is really appreciated !❤ 🇵🇪

@@HauntedHippie Looks like a good time to make that Drag Me To Hell rewatch ! MNIB is a B-movie comedy horror movie much in vein with what we would see in Ash vs Evil Dead, some of the tone and comedy would be left in the series, plus i love to see it as the New Nightmare of the ED franchise, so i really like it, it’s a fun watch for the fans, sad it never got a sequel and Sam didn’t get his cameo tho. And for the Creepshow: TV of the Dead, i recommend it too, it’s a Creepshow series episode that is basically Bob Ross vs The Evil Dead, really fun too! Eagering for new videos and thanks for the reply!! 🙌🏼✌🏼🎃

When I heard Sam Raimi was doing Multiverse of Madness I was PRAYING for an Ash cameo since he technically exists in the Marvel Universe. Of course we got Papa Pizza who played homage to Ash with the hand scene. Even though I was a little disappointed, it was still nice to see Bruce doing his slapstick bit. My head canon is that PP is a variant of Ash, and he’s still out there somewhere lol

I only love the original film, big fan of it. Haven’t seen Rise yet. A few years ago, I watched a Sam Raimi film, from the 90’s, called A Simple Plan. The opening scene, which follows a fox running around, had all these specific camera shots, that you see used in Evil Dead, and straight away you know you’re watching a Sam Raimi film. I recommend that one, if you’re interested in his other works, it does kind of copy Fargo with the whole snow setting. The other thing I love, is the whole Sam Raimi and Wes Craven trolling each other back and forth. That started off with the ripped Hills Have Eyes poster, in the cellar scene. I think Sam Raimi, has a decent list of films he’s directed, I haven’t seen Darkman yet, which is popular amongst his fans. But one I liked as a kid, was a western he made, called The Quick and the Dead. I recently rewatched, and still found it entertaining. I hope he continues with more Horror projects, wether he directs or helps produce.

What! Morristown?! I drove right thru that place and had no idea! I ate in that strip mall! I got VERY turned around driving from Atlanta to Nashville, and thats about where I figured it out and changed course! (“Why Are the mileage markers showing distance to Charlotte and no longer showing Nashville…?”….. I went to college, lol) It looked like a million other towns off highways in the US. Looking at a map its surrounded by woods though. And here I was thinking it was cool I drove thru a town right outside there called Talbott. ….That story was so interesting, Im optioning the film rights. Love that you included Darkman. That movie is so wonderfully bizarre. Liam Neeson is Darkman, playing opposite Frances McDormand. Yes please! If Chins Could Kill rules, but definitely get the audiobook. Bruce Campbell narrates it himself. Totally feels like hes just chillin’ telling you stories. Dudes got as much charm as chin. Theres a sequel too! Ebert’s review is bizarre. He spells out everything great about it then hes like “overall, it sucked. Two stars.” Like, what? Nothing beats his Human Centipede review, but thats another story…...ok……..maybe his review of North comes close…. The remake coming out in 2013 -ten years ago - is a fact that will never stop making me feel old. (Finally, to reiterate what Ive said before - watch Ash vs Evil Dead with Matt! Its like the exact overlap of what you both liked about the films).

Since you had to dive a little bit into the existence of alternate timelines in the Evil Dead universe in the games, you should DEFINITELY get into the comics. Hell, you could probably dedicate a single deep dive video to them.

I need to give the original trilogy another shot. I watched the first movie and didn't care for the tone so I never went in for 2 and 3. Also, I know you're all about the fictional world and movie making, but have you thought about going down the road of horror documentary? I feel like you really have a natural investigative ability and you really get into all the back stuff because you are a filmmaker. Just a thought. A lot of your deep dives are done better than true documentaries that people have paid for to see.
