I'm Glad you're keeping this series going. Children of the Night is one of my fave '90's horror comedies. It was directed by Tony Randal who directed Hellbound: Hellraiser 2. The sillier moments from Hellraiser 2 are very his style dark yet silly style. And you can see that in Children of the Night too.

Yet another great video Kylie. In the Mouth of Madness is like a dream... albeit a strange and dark dream. And deserves a 2nd. viewing. What I like about John Carpenter is his passion for filmmaking. And, too, he said he'd make movies for free... but pointed out that making money is merely about survival. Scream is a brilliant film. Period.

Just finished reviewing all 50. Excellent list. I’ll have to later go through movies of the 90s to see if you missed a gem. I took some notes. I liked your comment on active imagination. I think some of that is lacking these days when Directors show us everything and don’t leave us to fill in what’s not shown. Put in the right creepy sound and we scare ourselves. Army of Darkness, so good. Jurassic Park, who doesn’t like a movie with Dinosaurs in it. A fiend told me to see the Sixth Sense before anyone told me what it was about. Yes, not to spoil it for others, I was really surprised at the end. What did your Dad think? Well, I have more to add to my want list. Many I have seen before, yes even in the theater when it came out. Good job Kylie 👍🙂

Just finished and really loved the list, even though you did the Faculty dirty by not placing it in at least top 20. But we're all free to be wrong every once in a while ;) lol. Kidding, of course, but I'm honestly surprised that Don't Look Under the Bed wasn't on here after seeing Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown! The transformation at the end (you'll know if you've seen it and anything more to say spoils it all) was genuine nightmare fuel when it came out. Rewatching on Disney+ had me surprised it was even greenlit to be released to children with 0 warning lol.

Great list although I’d have to disagree on Urban Legend; I think Alicia Witt is a great final girl! She really grounds the film for me. I’d also have put The Frighteners on there, as well as Species and Species II, Body Parts directed by Eric Red, the Night of the Living Dead remake, as well as another little known film with Matthew Lillard called Dead Man’s Curve, which is probably more a black comedy but has some horror elements.

You woke up and chose violence with this video lol.. it's a great list! 90s was the best at "gateway/kids/family horror".. The Addams Family wasn't the first film I ever saw in a theater, but it was my first experience where I had a blast, it was literally a life changing experience at 7.. I loved Gomez and fell in love with Wednesday.. I wanted to be a male Wednesday, not aesthetically but personality wise.. Christina Ricci was the sole reason I wanted to become an actor when I was younger until I realized I had stage fright and it would never be in the cards lmao.. Addams Family Values is a GOAT film.. but then you also have Casper and Hocus Pocus which are October staples.. also Ernest Scared Stupid, you might not know about Ernest (maybe you do), but it's a 90s family horror banger.. so is Gremlins 2, but it's a bit more mature.. lots of classic family friendly spooky films.. Besides Scream, Child's Play 3 is my favorite 90s horror film and is the best in the franchise IMO.. your thoughts on the film are spot on! I think it's Chucky at his absolute best.. he's at his scariest but also his funniest, Brad Dourif killed it.. it's also the best looking Chucky IMO.. and the story, characters, and themes are great.. LOVE that film.. it was also the first R rated film I ever saw.. I really like The Night of the Living Dead 1990 remake.. the OG is obviously a classic and groundbreaking, but I'd personally rather watch the remake 9 times out of 10.. Disturbing Behavior is similar to Cruel Intentions in the sense that they're films I watched a lot in high school but then forget that they even exist as I get older.. I also don't remember anything about it besides Katie Holmes.. I hate IKWYDLS so much haha.. I'm actually shocked by how I never once liked it.. didn't like it when it came out and don't like it now.. but it's still a classic regardless of what I think.. LOVE The Faculty, saw that one in theaters.. Josh Hartnett was the name that was on the tip of your tongue.. he was also in Halloween H2O and The V!rg!n $u!c!de$.. I'm just going to stop here before I can't stop lol.. but overall I like 90s horror because I came of age during the decade, but I can also objectively understand why it's considered a "weak" or "stale" decade for horror.. Scream definitely saved the day!

The Game is a full on thriller, it’s a fantastic movie but it’s a thriller. The Jurassic Park movies imo are Adventure movies. I’ll let Cape Fear slide, it’s fantastic, but to me it’s not Horror though, it’s close but to me there isn’t enough Horror elements. No sorry I can’t let Terminator 2 slide, it’s a full on Sci-fi movie. For me Event Horizon is top 10 material. New Nightmare is also top 10 material for me. Candyman is also top 10 material for me. Misery is also top 10 material for me. For me the top 10 Horror movies of the 90’s are 10. New Nightmare 9. Candyman 8. Event Horizon 7. Scream 2 6. Misery 5. Silence Of The Lambs 4. Seven (yes it’s a Horror movie, I think there is a ton more Horror elements in Seven compared to others) 3. Scream (It’s my all time favourite movie but Imo there were two better Horror movies) 2. Jacob’s Ladder 1. Exorcist 3 (I think it’s better than the original, greatest Horror sequel ever) And Honourable Mentions to Alien 3 The Sixth Sense Cube Interview With A Vampire (yes even when it was released people realised how Gay it was at times, even Norm MacDonald joked about it on SNL when the movie was released)

@@fluorescentmilkshake For me Seven has a lot of Horror elements that makes it a Horror movie. Movies like Seven, American Psycho and Shutter Island have a ton of Horror elements that make it apart of the Horror genre. Where as a movie like the remake of Cape Fear has some elements of Horror but not enough like Seven, American Psycho and Shutter Island do. As for Alien 3, I think it’s really underrated and it’s nowhere near as bad as Fincher and others like to think. I think if the Alien franchise had stayed a trilogy it would be one of if not the best trilogy in movie history.

@@nu-metalfan2654 Hey hey now, wait a minute Hold Le Phone... when did you get the impression that I was an _Alien3_ trasher? It was a very powerful experience. No, I would not say it was bad. Also- I agree _American Psycho_ is a horror film. But that's also because - unlike _Se7en_ - it's not a character drama. We are fully immersed in the dark, horrific world of who Patrick Bateman is and what bred him. In _Se7en,_ Morgan Freeman is a constant Moral Barometer trying to keep and moderate peace and filter out primitive inclinations. I believe _Se7en_ would need a different tone to be a horror film. Maybe? Also ditch the narration at the end... In _Se7en,_ sure: we see a lot of awful things and we feel the nature of apathy and depraved indifference everywhere. But Morgan Freeman is always there and on our side. To pull us back away from the danger of soul decay. In _American Psycho,_ everyone is awful. And we still dive deep into the shallow evil world. Does it have horror elements? Absolutely. A lot of non horror films have horror elements though = even Disney films like _Hocus Pocus_ and almost all the animated films. There's even a Terrifying Talking Nightmare Toilet in the Bruce Willis movie about the talking babies (Part 2, I mean). Remember that movie? AND it's a SCARY Terrifying Talking Nightmare Toilet too...

Nice excellent choices there Kylie! The 90's I remember the most fondly. I'm a late 80's kid but the 90's was the era I remember most. Speaking of Disney, have you seen/do you remember So Weird? It use to be one of my favourite tv shows. It was like the X-Files for kids. Wondering if you have and if you would be interested in doing a deep dive/review on the series as a whole some day. My faves: *MOVIES* 1. In the mouth of madness 2. Candyman 3. Wes Craven's New Nightmare 4. Scream 5. I know what you did last summer 6. Jason Goes to Hell [As underrated as Halloween III: Season of the Witch imo] 7. The Craft 8. Practical Magic 9. Stephen King's IT 10. Tremmors 11. The Sixth Sense 12. Jacob's Ladder 13. Body Snatchers 14. Mimic (underrated) 15. The Faculty [just like how Scream was a homage of slasher films, The Faculty was a homage/tribute to body horror] 16. Halloween H20 17. Species [another underrated one] 18. Child's Play 2 19. Wishmaster 20. The Good Son 21. Idle Hands 22. Pet Sematary 2 [I mostly know Clancy Brown from Highlander] 23. The Nightmare Before Christmas 24: Jurassic Park *TV SHOWS* 1. So Weird 2. The X-Files 3. Buffy The Vampire Slayer [seasons 1 - 3] 4. Angel [seasons 1 -3] right now those are the ones I can think of. I need to revisit Event Horizon and I've never seen Body Bags.

Really good list. There are a few films it appears you haven't seen yet. The first is Tremors. Based on your tastes I predict this film would have made your top 20 if not your top 10. A fun horror comedy with really good practical effects. Another is one that just does not get talked about enough and that's Demon Knight. From what I can tell it's the first major film ever to feature a black final girl and she kicks ass, Looking forward to your 200s list.

I kinda love though that your lists always has some kid's Horror!! Btw, of course that counts, we all need our entry level films, don't we??? My top 10: 1) Scream 2) Jurassic Park 3) Tremors 4) I know what you did last summer 5) The Ghost and the Darkness 6) The Sixth Sense 7) In the Mouth of Madness 8) New Nightmare 9) Bram Stoker's Dracula 10) Addams Family Values (because yes, definitely superior to the first one)

damn so many bangers this month!!! who knew the antichrist was so prolific 🔥🔥🔥 bomb list, what a great decade. some of the lower ranked flicks might jump ranking with a rewatch!! top 5 limited to 1 per director: 1. nowhere (1997) - i've mentioned this a lot lol, great strange dark comedy from gregg araki 2. lost highway (1997) - one of david lynch's darkest films, apparently inspired by the oj trials. 3. brain dead/dead alive (1992) - early peter jackson flick, perhaps the most creative use of slapstick gore in cinematic history 4. scream (1996) - duh 5. serial mom (1994) - even better when you've seen the entirety of waters' filmography. captures the public fascination with true crime that still resonates to this day. and its goofy as heck. love idle hands, silence of the lambs, so many great horror flicks from this decade. this was a quick top 5.
