I never mind longer videos from amazing KZreadrs like yourself, Cody Leach, Posseded By Horror and so on. Your content is always a nice mix of research of the movies and your great sense of humor. I still hope you do a future collab with some of these other amazing KZreadrs i mentioned, because that would just be awesome. :)

As a 2001 baby my favorites are Jennifer’s Body, Ginger Snaps, May, Seed of Chucky, Orphan and The Ring. Absolutely LOVED Coraline as a kid, it was my introduction to ‘horror’, and it’s just as enjoyable as an adult. The stop motion is beautiful and the story never gets old. I definitely haven’t seen enough 2000s horror though!

I love that you'redoing all these top 50 lists!! We have a lot of favorites in common, like House of Wax, Saw II, the Final Destination franchise, Jennifer's Body, Seed of Chucky, Coraline, etc. I added those I didn't know about in my watchlist! I used to rewatch Hide and Seek often in elementary school, but it's been so long, I'm due for a rewatch.

I love that you put Scooby Doo and Signs high on that list. My son is a couple years older than you, so I had the privilege of watching discovery emerge from youth. One of the best parts of being a parent.

Glad you gave the TCM remake an honorable mention; it was the first sequel (remake really) that was close enough to the original's spirit. Plus gotta love the late great R. Lee Ermey

Yeah Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Final Destination 3 was so dang impressive. The film breakdown her path in the photos taken of the people which leads to how they could possibly die was very unique. She basically is like problem solving, understanding where is a possible outcome. Kept me invested!

I’ve never felt so seen! When you mentioned criticizing and finding ways the people you’re showing a movie to won’t like it… yes. 100% yes that’s me every time😭 At certain points I’m like, “oh no maybe I hyped this up too much. This might not be as good as I remember” And then when they say they also loved it, I feel so relieved lol

Another wonderful video, Kylie! I can’t wait to hear about your 2010s favs. I realized that a lot of the movies that horrified me during this decade are considered thrillers, but whatever. I’ve also really gotten into some foreign films from that I highly recommend: The Vengeance Trilogy by Park Chan-wook, A Tale of Two Sisters (The Uninvited was the remake of this), Shutter (2004), Battle Royale, Let the Right One In, Thirst, Dumplings, and Irreversible. Some others I remember enjoying that you didn’t mention (mostly would be considered thrillers): In the Cut, Red Eye, Panic Room, The Village, Zodiac, The Glass House, Hard Candy, The Stepford Wives, May, and The House of the Devil. Also Twitches was a favorite gateway movie for me as a kid!

It was cool seeing Martyrs on your list. It's a rough watch but it sticks with you. Jason X is one of my fave Friday the 13th films. Jason Lives just beat it though. The Japanese version of Pulse is an early 2000's masterpiece. One of the most apocalyptic horror movies ever. I also liked Silent Hill. It has problems but it captures the feel of the games so well. And I liked all three Ginger Snaps movies at the time. The first one definitely holds up. And David Cronenberg's Spider is such a weird experimental character study. It has psychological horror elements too.

The fact that you have a shout out to Hide and Seek makes me soooo happy. I asked my mom to buy this movie for me when I was 8 years old, and I thought it was 5 stars as a child. Upon multiple rewatches, I still think it’s a genuine 4 star movie. Dakota is so good at showing fear. And Deniro is literally never bad at anything, but his 3rd act performance is so terrifying. Gives me Nicholson in “The Shining” vibes.

Amazing list Kylie. Even though I'm more familiar with the majority of the movies you mentioned, I haven't heard some of these. You mentioning the Scooby Doo live action movie as well as wearing a cool Scooby shirt reminds me that I need to rewatch that movie again. Used to watch that movie quite a lot when I was younger with my sister. Same goes for Coraline and Corpse Bride. Although my sister loved those movies more than I did at the time and I only came to appreciate how good they really were when I got younger. Speaking on the Final Destination movies, listening to the music, I just remembered that Shirely Walker did the score for the first three movies. I thought it sounded familiar since some of them kind of remind me of some of the music she did for Batman and Superman the Animated Series. But thanks for another list video Kylie! Looking forward to the list you make for the 2010s!

Great list Kylie.. 2000s horror is weird for me.. lots of films but I wouldn't even know where to begin my top 10.. I'll just mention some random films that fall somewhere under the horror umbrella.. sorry in advance if this ends up being a long one lol.. Requiem for a Dream is a horror film, not traditionally, but 90% of horror films wish it could be as effective.. Burstyn with one of the most haunting performances ever.. Leto, Jennifer Connelly and Marlon Wayans all kill it.. iconic score.. masterclass filmmaking.. I think the top comment on Letterboxd is "This is a horror film" lol.. not sure if you've seen it, it's a must see but it's fucked up, hard to watch and will stay with you for the next few days.. I always say I'll never watch it again but I always do because it's just too good, but you have to be in the mood for it.. Monster is a serial killer biopic, so it ultimately fits somewhere in the genre.. it's dark with a few horrifying scenes although it's not a "traditional" horror film.. Charlize and Ricci put on an acting clinic.. I'm still dumbfounded that Patty Jenkins wrote and directed an instant classic in her debut and then didn't direct anything for almost 15 years until the Wonder Woman films.. that's so wild to me.. Joy Ride is an underrated one.. stars Paul Walker and Steve Zahn.. haven't seen it in forever but remember liking it.. it seems to be a respected film.. I have it on DVD somewhere, definitely due for a re-watch.. The Gathering is a 2001 British horror film starring Ricci.. I don't think it's that good and she might have mailed it in, but it still has that early 2000s charm and there are some people that genuinely like it.. The Hole is another 2001 British film, Thora Birch stars, but this one is teen/thriller/whodunit with some horror elements.. didn't love it but it once again has that early 2000s charm and there are people that like it.. I'm a big fan of The Strangers.. great slow burn, great tension, great suspense.. my favorite Liv Tyler film.. it's honestly one of my favorite traditional horror films of the decade.. Tarantino and Rodriguez Grindhouse collab are really good.. Planet Terror is a wild zombie flick.. Death Proof is unconventional stalker/slasher film.. both are definitely worth checking out.. I think that you'd especially like Death Proof.. AfterLife is a good one starring Ricci, Liam Neeson and Justin Long.. unique and original premise that probably should've been better but I still really like it.. I've always seen some say it's "too male gazey for a female director" but I don't know, I'm not here for that.. Ricci did her thing, Neeson is creepy and Justin Long does Justin Long things.. Elisabeth Shue is also in Hide and Seek.. I remember seeing it once when it came out and that's it.. don't remember much about it besides the cast.. American Psycho is great and has great replay value.. Christian Bale is incredible in it.. Okay I'ma stop lol.. I was kind of surprised you didn't mention Red Eye though, unless I completely missed it.. or maybe it just didn't make your list.. I think it's a solid thriller, nothing too crazy but it's enjoyable stuff..

I have a soft spot for The Ring from 2002. Saw it in theaters as a teenager, which was so fun. Also around that time, I was really getting into punk rock. There's a scene where Noah opens his cabinet and a bunch of punk rock stickers are on display (looks like Epitaph Records sent a stack of stickers to the filmmakers, lol) and that was so validating/cemented my love for punk and The Ring. Also developed a big crush on Naomi Watts here, which led me to Mulholland Drive. And I'm with you Martyrs. I saw it on video in 2009. It messed me up to the point that it took 12 years before I could rewatch it again. probably be another 12 until I can view it again. Anyway, awesome list!

I've never heard the decade as a whole referred to as the "early 2000s".. it's just the 2000s.. or nauties, noughties or aughts, but I think those are mostly a British thing.. it's obviously not that serious, but I found it interesting.. maybe I'm missing something or not hip lol.. oh well..

As a kid who as born in the 2000's, I have a lot of favorite horror movies that came out in that very decade, such as "Shaun of the Dead", "The Others", "Scream 3", "Final Destination" 1-3, "The Strangers", "House of Wax", "Saw", "Drag Me to Hell", "28 Days Later", "Cabin Fever", "Hostel", "Hannibal", "The Hills Have Eyes", "The Ring", "Orphan" and "The Exorcism of Emily Rose". And for world cinema, "Battle Royale", "Versus", "The Orphanage" and "A Tale of Two Sisters" are among the best foreign horror films of the 2000's (except "Battle Royale" is more horror-adjacent than straight-up horror).👏🏻💯

Apologies in advance forthe rambly comment, I’m super baked while I’m writing this. Anyway, my favorite 2000’s horror movies are easily Saw and Saw 2. The first film came out when I was four years old, and it was pretty much my first exposure to horror along with Jaws. That poster of Billy The Puppet gave me nightmares, but it also kind of intrigued me. And John Kramer is a fantastic character. Even though these movies are infamous for their gore, there’s a very interesting philosophy in this franchise and point of view. How far are we willing to go to stay alive if the situation was so desperate? “Those who don’t appreciate life don’t deserve life”. I don’t necessarily agree with John’s philosophy, but I understand where he’s coming from and why he thinks that way. He’s not evil, he’s not insane, he’s just dedicated to his work. As for Freddy vs Jason, I’m mixed on it . I think this is the scariest Robert Englund has ever been as Freddy, that opening narration alone is fucking chilling. The actor who plays Jason does a good job, and I liked Kia, Mark and that stoner dude, but the rest of the movie kind of sucked. I absolutely hated Lori and that other guy, I was begging for Freddy or Jason kill them both and have Kia and Mark survive. It’s not that bad of a movie overall, though.

Late comment, stupid busy week but this is my 2nd favorite era being a 90’s baby. This is going to be a long one: First of all, thank youuuu for giving some love to 1408, that’s in my top 10 for sure! Some of them are: - Jeepers Creepers: I know, trash director but I remember only being 10 when this came out and watching if it late at night with my mom and needless to say I couldn’t sleep that night 😵‍💫😵‍💫. The ending! Omg, trauma/ core memory 😂. -Saw 2, Saw 1 & Saw 3 (my ranking of those) proud to say I SAW all three in theaters, love them so so much - 13 Goats-- I mean ghosts, because of course!! Matthew Lillard my man 🥵 - 1408, you already know lol - final destination 3, 2, 1 FINALLY more people giving number 3 the much due love it DESERVES.. that tanning bed scene 🔥 💀 - the descent - missed out in this one growing up HOW?! And WHY?! If I had watched it at the time I would have FREAKED out. - Scream 3: doesn’t deserve any hate or dislike it gets, this is honestly the most entertaining/ fun of the series IMO. And I’m super annoying to watch it with cause I’m quoting it the entire watch 😂 - Ginger Snaps and Drag Me to Hell: these I actually just watched this year for Spooktober and they instantly became favorites. - I love the TCM remake .. it’s definitely for it’s time cause it scared me so bad at the time I blocked it out of my memory 😂. I also loved the Amityville Horror remake, saw that one in theaters and that bathroom mirror jump scare 💀 yikes haha idk why on a rewatch it’s not that scary but again it was for its time. 😅 Okay that was more than 10 but 🤷🏼‍♀️ An honorable mention for me would be Ghost Ship. The movie as a whole is pretty bad but that opening scene 😭 again I was only 10 or 11 watching late at night with my mom (wtf mom?!?! But also thank her I owe her for my love of horror 😂) Top 3 most traumatic scenes for me growing up lol. OH and also be validated in your love for Seed of Chucky, I absolutely loved it as a teen and don’t mind it now. It’s goofy and wild and JENNIFER THEE TILLY ♥️ . I was obsessed with her and still kinda am haha. Also, I totally missed out on Black Xmas growing up. Will be rectifying that for my Christmas watch this year. I’m excited.

lmao when the video starts with a weird al-esque jonas brothers parody you know its gonna be a banger the scooby shirt 🔥🔥🔥 halloween as #31 haha nice love donnie darko. there's some alternate cuts with more bits from the book as well. defo worth a rewatch. great soundtrack. paranormal activity was such a thing at the time. i remember the first one got me good when i first saw as a lil lad it but idk if it holds up on a rewatch once you know what happens. house of wax is just nostalgic as hell for me. one of my first horror flicks probably. seed of chucky!! hell yeah ughh shaun of the dead is such a slapper. esp once you get into filmmaking, it just makes you appreciate how tight it is. such a banger. eyy hell yeah i love mary elizabeth winstead, she is totally underrated and great in horror imo. totally agree!! great in death proof, sky high(!), the most recent remake of the thing, and obviously scott pilgrim!!! love the love for matthew lillard hahah our boiii eyyy of course the ring is #1. classic. love naomi watts. would be rad to maybe revisit that original vs remake since its been a while! or maybe a watch along... maybe like a 30k special or something! love the purpley vibe of the lighting in this one! some underrated gems in this decade, i've got a few to add to my watchlist!

My top 5 would be Orphan, The Ring, The Descent, Shawn of the Dead, and Ju-on. Ju-on is the Japanese version of The Grudge, and is WAY better than the American remake, although that would probably make my Top 50. Orphan really is underrated, I think Isabelle Fuhrman gives one of the best child performances ever. A lot more movies on this list that I haven't seen than 80s and 90s. Will definitely have to find Hide and Seek and Triangle, never heard of either. Been meaning to watch Martyrs for ages. And somehow I haven't seen Signs. Great list!

You should definitely give Ginger Snaps another try. Ginger Snaps two is also really good and just as weird. I know this isn't a horror show, but I'd recommend giving Orphan Black a shot. Ginger Snaps' director, John Fawcett, co-created it with Graeme Manson. It's by far my favorite TV show. The politics are really good and the lead actress, Tatiana Maslany, basically pulls off a magic trick. Her performances are jaw dropping.

@@froggyfresh08 it's kinda mixed to negatively regarded amongst fans of the franchise which is a bummer. I'd say mostly because 85% of it actually isn't found footage and the tone definitely covers more ground within the genre, it doesn't have that absolute "oh my god can I BREATHE for a second please" vibe of the first two which for me was a welcome change of pace but most people seemed to feel "meh I can take it or leave it" about it. It's also kinda cheeky and grindhouse-y for a franchise like [REC] so that's another reason I can see why fans were a bit put off. Also yes yes yes to more "wedding/event" horror in general I'm with you!

Kylie, Kylie, Kylie, for people who follow your channel you cannot fool us anymore. We tune in and you’re wearing a Scooby Doo t-shirt talking about the 2000s. Ya right we know what’s coming in your top ten. Ring # 1. 👍 My daughter Natasha is scared to death of that movie. I told you recently that I popped out my DVDs from my Blu-Ray disks and sent them to my daughter. I put them in a multi case and The Ring was # 1 in the pack. She texts me with a photo of that disk in the case with a caption “What’s This” 🤨🤨🤨 😜 When she lived with me we went to the local Amusement park for frightmares. One of the buildings we go into, we go into this room and sitting on a stool is a girl with black hair over her face, dressed in white. From my daughter’s 👄 lips come “it’s the Ringgggggg” 😵‍💫 So much fun. Thanks for sharing your top 50 of the 2000s. I knew this was coming so I watched all the decade top lists that you did.
