God the 70s was such a great era, really produced some of the best cinema and music.
“ everyone is annoying , I just come , do my work and leave “ SIS THATS A WHOLE MOOD !!! I honestly love both films , they are on my top 15 fave horror movies off all time . I personally prefer the remake since it affected me more and it scared me more compare to the original . But the original for me is the mother of horror . I can’t wait to see a comparison Friday the 13th cause that will include my fave 😏😏

Evil Dead 1981 is also good.
The original wins. The remake is pretty good I don't mind it unlike Chainsaw The Beginning where you had a dumb ending where the girl couldn't notice a big guy with a chainsaw hiding in the backseat. Plus I'm glad they didn't recreate the dinner scene, you can't top the original.

I love "TCM - the beginning". The director was aware BTW that the last scene didn't really work. They had planned to have her stabbed by Leatherface but then thought they can't end a TCM movie with stabbing someone. So the big question is - how did he even start the chainsaw hunched over in the backseat?
Great video. The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is in my top 5 all time horror films. I absolutely love it. I am admittedly one who does not look fondly upon remakes, especially of movies that are "classic". The remake for TCM is one that I actually enjoy quite a bit. Its not as good as the OG in my opinion but it is a very good different telling. Its one of the best remakes. A hell of a lot better that Rob Zombie's Halloween remake. One of my favorite things about the original is Edwin Neal as the hitchhiker. That dude killed it.
I'm a huge horror fan and I somehow just came across your channel last week when I was looking for the TCM remake reviews. I haven't been able to stop watching your vids since, I absolutely adore them! Love the Chewbacca robe btw👍

Great video! I've been thinking about rewatching the remake for a while. The original film is one of my favorites of all time! I appreciate how in depth you were.
One thing that got pointed out to me about TCM is the fact it was the first slasher flick that was set during the day not nighttime and tbh it definitely adds something ominous
The original is a real masterpiece. Most it's horror takes place during daylight. Another interesting fact is that the skulls inside the house were actually real.
Honestly, your analysis of different remakes are what i look forward in my week

I went into the original earlier this year knowing it was just a classic slasher, I had no idea how unique, creative, and just fantastic it was. I was blown away by how grossed out and scared I was, and not in the ways I expected. I figured a saw like gore fest, which is okay sometimes, but was pleasently surprised to find how claustrophobic and tense this movie made me feel. Instantly became a favorite and really got me back into horror. Really great video, these are super informative and interesting, but the best parts are when your personality and style show! These also expose me a lot to movies I've yet to check out other versions of, looking forward to more uploads as always :)
Love your intro catwalk, Kylie; you're such a ham 💗 The original '74 TCM wins in my book; the 2003 remake has its moments (love R. Lee Ermey's character - flashbacks to Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket"), but the new Leatherface was too much "evil slasher" and not enough "crazy" like the O.G. version. There was no need to justify his skinning hobby by giving him a medical condition; we have plenty of unfortunate leprosy victims back home in India, but I don't see them running around with chainsaws whenever I visit family. Though the "Kemper face mask" scene, I thought, was chilling to the core
This is so good, I'm gonna subscribe! Original for me. All the best all the way from the UK - Dennis 😊
It’s hard to beat the original, clearly, but as far as remakes go, this is one of the better ones. Great video as usual. I really do enjoy the fun style of your videos, very entertaining!

Having been into old abandoned farm houses and seen what's been left behind, the OG 74 TCM is pretty scarily accurate which makes it scarier
Yessss, girl! I recently watched the original for the first time ever, (I know, I'm late) & I prefer the remake only because of nostalgia, Jessica Biel, and the fact that I seen that one first as a child and it terrified the hell out of me. The original is obviously the OG and you gotta respect that, so I completely get that it might've won... lol. Other videos you could make could be the stepfather from 1987 vs. the remake from 2009 and when a stranger calls from 1979 to the remake in 2006. I actually really love the remake of when a stranger calls. I'd love to know what you think, Kylie! :)

It's probably a tie for me, I personally look at both films as a companion piece. whenever I have the urge to re-watch the original I usually watch 2003 remake afterwards. The style and atmosphere of both films are amazing. Erin and Sally are both good final girls, both films have fantastic leatherfaces, and creepy soundtracks. I watched the original alone in my parents basement at night when I was like 13 and I think that’s the most scared I’ve ever been in my life. I just saw the remake and I loved it! Obviously they weren’t going to be able to create the same vibe from the original so I really like what they did with it
The original came out 7 years before I was born. I saw it when I was 7 and didn't watch it again until I was 19. I saw the remake on DVD about 2 years after it came out. I love both, but I lean slightly towards the remake (which, honestly, surprised the shit out of me.) because I just didn't see it coming. Both films are awesome and I can watch either one. Now, about that shitastic Freddy remake... On a side note, I ran into your channel last week and, I gotta say, you're rocking this. Intelligent, funny, easy on the eyes yet you're a total nerd! Keep rocking, Hippie! 👍
Loving these comparison videos. Both of these film are iconic and influenced other films. The remake started the remaking film craze and the original inspired so many horror films, like Hellraiser being one of them. I love both of these films for different reasons. Both are textbook examples of Making an original film from an original idea, and how to remake an already proven classic. Very nice job on this video.👌 And I didn't know Jessica Beal was so stuck up. Like your making a horror movie, have some fun, open up a little. I can see her point if the set and crew are very shitty.

My favorite movie of all time vs one of my favorite remakes of all time! Love it. Maybe a Black Christmas (74) vs Black Christmas (06) vs Black Christmas (19) for the holidays. 🤷
I actually knew Andrew Bryniarski most as Christopher Walken's son in Batman Returns
I go back and forth between which one I like more.. the fact that it's even a debate goes to show how much I like the remake.. I think 1974 at its best is better than 2003 at its best.. 1974 has a lot of dry spots for me, but they more than make up for it with other aspects in the film.. 1974 is clearly creepier, grittier and more disturbing.. I recently rewatched 2003 (I've seen it many times since it came out) and I completely agree that it hasn't aged gracefully.. It's still fun, but I'd also drop my rating down a notch.. I give 2003 a lot of credit though because most slasher/horror remakes are completely inferior to the original and 2003 did a good job of staying true to the original while remaining modern and trying to be unique.. You can argue that the success of 2003 started the horror remake trend of the new millennium and most of the attempts that followed didn't do as good of a job as 2003 did IMO.. I also saw 2003 before I saw 1974 for what it's worth..
OG Texas Chainsaw Massacre is better. The kills looked so awesome, while some of them were lame. Case in point, there's no way you can top the classics. And I would LOVE to see you do a Carrie remake comparison.
The OG all day everyday 🙌🏾
@16:06 "hey, all these characters are about to be slaughtered too" ❤️❤️❤️
Fun fact - He wasn't talking about making gelatin. He was talking about making head cheese. That's why he called it head cheese. Much more disgusting.
@Haunted Hippie In many ways, the American slasher movie genre. Is a pumped up take on the Italian Giallo film genre. But I was wondering? Do you know if Tobe Hooper ever sighted the movie ''Spider Baby'' 1966, as one of the inspiration for ''The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'' (1974)?
Bless you for them sneezes girl 😎 keep up the horror content 💜
Great comparison! I think the remake is a technically better film and certainly easier to watch, but nothing can match the raw power and insanity of the original. It's a difficult comparison to make but the original really was lightning in a bottle.
Well Done. I agreed completely Also were in the remake times now. 90s horror remakes. Candyman and Scream recent. An I know what you did Last Summer show. Also 2 Hellraiser projects and a Jeepers Creepers in 2022 (not 90s but close enough)
Where you get that robe? Lol I want one. But anyway great video, I love the original TCM, it’s a classic. Of the two, it do love the original more, but I still think the remake is pretty dam good. Probably the best of any horror remake in my opinion
Great show 👍 liked your pick
How does one contact you for PR? 🤔
If it works, after the new Scream comes out, you could do a Scream (1996) vs. Scream (2022).

That edit of Franklin 🤣🤣
They included a dinner scene in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: the beginning
"Hi, Kylie. I have an awesome question for you."
The thing that’s funny the opening is like complete opposite to what the title is
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre to me is a film that is really unique and every time I watch it the more interesting it gets. It is beyond disturbing the last time I watched it was Halloween two years ago and after it was over even though I saw it many times and knew what to expect I was rendered speechless and absolutely shocked. It has that vibe. The remake I only saw once and I might have to give it another look because initially I didn’t enjoy it. Mainly because of how Hollywood it seemed that is the reason why I find the original so much better. Because it feels like no movie I’ve ever seen before and it has a feel like it’s actually happening in front of your eyes and you’re actually watching people being butchered instead of a bunch of supermodel looking women and GQ looking men running away from a dude chasing them with a chainsaw. That’s why the original sticks with me to this day because it feels real.
Yes, Straightjacket was written by Psycho's Robert Bloch, I've been meaning to watch that one!

Well I must say that your in-depth analysis of the 2003 remake has made me reconsider my views regarding it. I loved it when I saw it in theaters, but was left kinda disappointed upon rewatch when I purchased it. I've never watched it since, discarding it a simple slasher; given what has been posited here, it may be worthy of another watch. Hey, maybe I'll love it again. Of course, the original is superior, because it's a psychological, nightmarish masterpiece!

I’m from Houston Texas so growing up watching the OG had us feeling like we unleashed leatherface to the world lol it’s up there with the best horror movies of all time for sure.
I’m a Superfan of the original but I do think the remake is great.
your dream reminds me of the 'worst bathroom in Scotland' in "Trainspotting".
Dayum that Chubaka robe Wow!
I have disgusting public bathroom dreams too! You’re totally right about the aesthetic-never any other people in mine though
I only watched the re-make once. Thought the girl was stunning. I appreciated that the movie was trying hard. But it was just another disposable re-make to me. Maybe I was wrong I'll have to revisit it.
I know the remake Leatherface as Christopher Walken's son on Batman Returns as well as he teased Gunner Hanson after he died because Gunner made a precocious joke about them both as Leatherface.
Bless you
I was very disappointed with the TCM remake. I think I kinda hate it. Now the original movie is one of my favorite horror movies, but that’s not why I didn’t enjoy the remake. I like the idea of a remake that is more of a standard slasher film. I don’t particularly care that much about originality, so if a slasher movie is well made, I won’t care if it is derivative of groundbreaking films. I just found the remake to be scary or entertaining at all. Hell, I would say that TCM 2 is scarier than the remake with the radio visit by the Sawyer’s scene. I just found that the remake is just straight up boring, which is one of the worst things a movie can be. It is very polished movie, but there’s no substance there, so there’s not much you can do.
I Honestlyyyy LOVE Both Films Equally. I Loved How Dark, Gritty & Disturbing Both Films Looked, Felt & Self-Executed Throughout. I Loved Both Leatherfaces & The Side Characters From Each Film. But As Far As An Official Winner Of The Superior Film, That's Definitely The 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre Film. While The Original Was Ahead Of Time, The Remake However Is The One I Grew Up Religiously With. I Found Every Character A Lot Of Fun To Watch Especially Sheriff Hoyt's Character. Leatherface Was Brutal As Shit & Wasn't Just Down Right Mentally Disturbed Like The Original, He Was A Freaking Brute Thirsty For Blood & Maaann Could He Run His Ass Off😂 I Loved Pepper & Morgan's Characters The Most. Both The Actress Who Played Pepper & Jessica Biel As Erin Are Two Very Underrated Scream Queens & I Completely Agree That Both Erin & Sally Are Two Very Underrated Final Girls In The Horror Genre. So Bottom Line, Definitely The 2003 Version Is My Favorite. (Jessica Biel Of Course Being My Bonus Point) A Lot Of Hate & Shade To Michael Bay 💯% Always.

The og I love more. One of top 10 favorite horror films and one of the only ones to really scare me. Such a classic. The remake though I love as well. As far as remakes go it's my favorite.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974i) s one of the best debut horror movies in history and I do love the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre it's a awesome movie.
Hot take: I think the Remake is better but the original is also very good.
I belive bloodfeast from 1963 is considered the 1st slasher/splatter
I personally like the 2003 movie more but of course the original movie is way more iconic and has done more for the genre.

Its more "friendly" to show people who may have never seen any of them before. I do the same thing with the first Evil Dead, if I meet someone who hasn't seen them and has an interest I just don't bother with Evil Dead and just go with Evil Dead 2. TCM is a good movie IF you already liked it. It hasn't aged super well and its rough look might be hard to show someone for a first time viewing.
They are about tied, except tossing in R.lee ermey gives remake the edge.
I prefer the 2003 remake, The acting is way better, Both of them is terrifying, But the original will always be a classic

I think the original does way better in terms of atmosphere, you can really feel the adrenaline in the air. I'd say the setting feels sureal but the way it feels when the rubber meats the road is very real and visceral. The 2003 one feels a lot more polished which takes away from that real feel but if you want gore 2003 is your movie out of the two.

@@shiningstone6771 Yeah, and my opinion is that TCM remake is garbage. The original is one of my favorites, but that's not why I dislike it. I don't mind a straight slasher film version of TCM (unlike a lot of Halloween fans are about their remake changing things, but that's an entirely different discussion) but this remake is just a poor slasher movie. I was not scared or invested in any of these characters, the teens are annoying, and the family has like Sheriff Hoyt. I don't really understand why this film is held in high regard, and it feels pretty insulting to one of the best movies of all time for people to say the remake is better.
I also agree that making Leatherface having a skin condition was a cheap plot to do. A lot of commentary from the OG movie mentions that he wears masks because he himself is a very empty character and lacks personality. So my personal headcanon is that Leatherface himself looks like an average person, but suffers from extreme dissociation to the point he looks at himself and sees nothing, hence why he wears the masks.
OHHHH MAN (WOMAN) ... YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE PREQUEL TO THIS? Texas chainsaw the beginning? From 2006?! Younsee how wheelchair dude loses his legs... And I'm not gonna explain if it was leatherfaces anger or not..
